Kiersten Modglin is one of my favorite quickly read thriller authors. She really knows how to put on roller-coaster with crazy twists and satisfying revenge plays.
I loved how this book was short and packed a lot in a short read. Sadie is in the final stages of her pregnancy and decides to take a trip with her fiance Calvin. When they get to the quaint cabin in the snow Sadie loves it at first. The elderly owns are excited to rent to a young couple expecting their first baby. Sadie quickly discovers the couple who own the cabin are a bit off. Strange things begin to happen and this couple seems to be around ever corner always watching.
Prior to their arrival to the cabin Calvin receives some unexpected news which leaves Sadie feeling confused and unsure what to do next. Now at the cabin she tries to put this news out of her head and enjoy these last few remaining days with Calvin. Strange things keep happening and now Sadie is scared and wants to head back home. Prior to their departure Calvin and Sadie receive a guest that leaves Sadie reeling. Who can she trust at this point? Her gut tells her something I really wrong.
I give this book a 3.5 star read. I was engaged and enjoyed the twists and crazy plot.

Danggg, Kiersten Modglin did it again! Twistedddd!
Quick easy read, amazing narrators!

I received a free copy of this audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media. I’ve been reading a lot of thrillers lately, so this book had a lot to live up to. It was great - so many twists and turns I pretty much needed a map to keep track! The plot was like an onion and Modglin kept peeling back layer after layer to give us the full (shocking!) story. Just when I thought I had it figured out a new twist would appear, tossing my assumptions out the window.
The characters were intertwined and had the strangest connections. I loved being continually surprised. The story jumped from perspective to perspective, back in time and to the present. The different perspectives were a nice way to be able to tie everything together neatly.
The characters, despite their detailed back stories, seemed kind of surface level and weren’t really developed as much as they could have been. But overall I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to those who enjoy thrillers.

Yes! This was sooo good! The shocking secrets that are exposed left me floored! It was full of secrets and webs of lies and I was there for it all!

Sadie and Calvin are headed for their last trip prior to the arrival of their baby girl. Calvin has picked the perfect cabin, away from everything and everyone. A nice quiet little retreat to enjoy each other's company. Everything is perfect, it's snowy outside, perfect landscape for a stay-away-from-home-cation. Until there's a knock at the door and they're greeted by the cabin's owners. Something about these owners just feels off to Sadie and she can't shake the feeling something is terribly wrong.
This is a quick, short, easy listen book. There are a couple of unexpected twists. Abigail Reno and Jay Myers did a fantastic job portraying Sadie and Calvin. Told in a dual POV, it was nice to have the differentiation in the characters. Definitely recommend this one on audiobook!
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange of my honest review!

This was just the book to get me back into reading/listening to audiobooks.
The whole time I was saying "this motherf*cker" out loud every ten minutes.
Omg it was madness.
Give it a listen! You'll be hooked.

This was such a quick, intense read!! I just love a good K.Mod read to get me through another day lol I did not expect the twist, which makes it even better! The audiobook was absolutely awesome with two narrators for the main characters. Highly recommend!!
*Thank you partner @dreamscape_media for the #gifted audiobook in exchange for an honest review.*

This thriller unfolds around a babymoon that takes a dark turn, with the fiancé and several other characters harboring deep secrets. The book was engaging and made for a quick read—I managed to listen to the entire audiobook in just one day. The nuances of the characters were particularly well-delivered, and I found the character development and storytelling to be fantastic. I've consistently enjoyed Kiersten Modglin's books, and this latest addition was no exception.

Short quick read. While it seems the book will go one direction, Modglin surprises and turns another.

Sadie and Calvin decide to go on a babymoon to a remote cabin in the snowy mountains, weeks before their first baby is due. However, before their vacation even begins, the couple receives shocking news. They decide to go ahead with the trip anyway, but their arrival brings strange behavior from the rental owners. Sadie can’t help but think she is being watched. Just how safe are they up on the mountain all alone?
Kiersten Modglin once again does not disappoint. She truly has a talent for writing suspenseful thrillers. This is one of my favorites of hers so far. The twists and turns kept me listening and turning up the speed to hear what would happen next. The narration was really good, too. Abby Reno and Jay Myers did an excellent job narrating! 4.5/5 stars! I highly recommend it to anyone that loves thrillers.

I am a huge fan of Kiersten Modglin’s books and this one was no different. Although a quick listen, it was filled with twists and turns with lots of surprises at the end. We get two main POVs in both the “before” and “after.” I really liked the narrators, who definitely brought life to the characters.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen and review.

This book gave me whiplash. It was not what I was expecting. It was a quick fast read that kept me guessing and intrigued throughout. Its not your usual thriller but was still a good read. I kept wanting answers and to know what was going on and needed to know more throughout the book until the answers came and then there would be more questions! What a fun read.

This was suppose to be the trip that saved them. However, it was the trip that broke them. Right before Calvin and Sadie are about to leave, Calvin admits to something that breaks his soon-to-be family. Sadie chooses to push the thought aside in order to enjoy their trip. Are they still able to, with this news looming over their head?

I was surprised this audiobook was so short! I looked and the book itself is only just over 150 pages. This was my first book by Kiersten Modglin and I didn't expect the twist.

“The Last Trip” by Kiersten Modglin is a thrilling, twisty ride that I couldn’t put down. The narrators were fantastic, bringing so much life and intensity to the story. Just like all of Modglin’s books, it was filled with suspense and unexpected twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself completely hooked from start to finish, unable to stop until it was over. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, this one is definitely a must-read!

This book was not what I was expecting based off the descrption. The beginning of it is seemingly normal but once you get to the end it's just kind of... blech. What the description doesn't mention is the fact that it's a reltionship between a professor and his student and that he essentially groomed his wife and his fiance. All around it was creepy in a not good way.

Okay, so, "The Last Trip" by Kiersten Modglin? Yeah, I flew through it. I'm a big Modglin fan (read all of the arrangements books) , and this one didn't let me down. I actually thought I had it all figured out early on, which is funny, because she totally got me. I was wrong, and I loved it. It's a quick, fun read (or in my case listen) , and she's really good at those twists. Four stars because, well, I had a tiny hunch early on, but honestly, it was still a blast. Basically, if you like a good, fast-paced thriller that'll keep you guessing, this is it. Thanks NetGalley and dreamscape for the audio version of this book. All opinions are my own.

Pure escapism. That’s what The Last Trip by Kiersten Modglin is. This is a short, tight, fast paced thriller. Sadie and Calvin are expecting their first child, and before the big day arrives they’ve planned a babymoon get away. But before things even get started they get hit with some shocking news. Unbeknownst to both Calvin and Sadie it would see that Sadie’s impending birth isn’t Calvin’s first child. And that is just the first of many wild twists. As I said this is a short book (less than 5 hours) so the turns come fast. I listened to the audiobook over two sessions (likely would have been only one had I not had an appointment I couldn’t miss, lol) Those familiar with Modglin’s work know she often throws in twists you never expect, and this is definitely the case here. Abigail Reno and Jay Myers both do an excellent job with the narration and made this one a pleasure to listen to. I’d like to thank Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review an advanced copy of the audio version of The Last Trip.

I did NOT predict a single thing that happened in this book!! I enjoyed it, enjoyed the ride, and left hating men even more haha.

What a mixed bag of a book.
This is a short book at around 200 pages but there is so much to unpack from it.
I will try not to give too much away though.
The Chapters alternate between 'him' and 'her' and 'before' and 'now' which can get somewhat confusing at times.
We are introduced to a college professor and his fiancée in the story as they begin dating in the past and in the now there is a pregnancy. The professor is a very controlling and calculating man always wanting to plan everything but as we know 'life usually has other plans'
The book starts off in a good pace from the start setting of the 2 story timelines and soon certain questions are asked. What is annoying throughout most of the book is that you have these questions, certain things happen where the characters could tell you what they are thinking after all we are in their thoughts this being a first person book and all. However for the sake of suspense and mystery we are kept in the dark and it gets somewhat frustrating being dragged out for so long until the end just so that we can gets 5 twists/reveals towards the end. I'd much rather the puzzle pieces where revealed in a much more organic way as this made the main female character seem very annoying at times. I feel she seemed too vulnerable and then too empowered it just made no sense.
Towards the end I did like the layers of the story however again would have preferred a more organic layered reveal.
A shout out to the male narrator who executed his narration perfectly and was very reminiscent of 'YOU'.
Many thanks to Dreamscape who provided me with an audio copy of this book via NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.
