I absolutely love Kiersten Modglin thrillers. She also has the uncanny ability to make me question my marriage with her books. And this one is no exception on both parts. There is intrigue, mystery, suspense. And she keeps me guessing. I love trying to figure out the ending, and never do. The twists are just so good. I highly recommend you go in blind. Another fantastic read by Kiersten. And the dual narrative audiobook was A+.

This book was really engaging and I really liked the plot twist. It was outrageous, but believable and I was shocked at the genius of it. It seemed super short, but character and plot development was sufficient to make it a good book. I liked the ending. The best of Modglin’s books I have read in a while! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

I’m a big Kiersten Modglin fan. The Last Trip is another short book/quick listen, but unfortunately this one felt a little too disjointed for me. For example, I thought the “last trip” they took was going to be more significant or take up more of the story, but then all of a sudden that was over and done. To me, it felt like a few different storylines forced into one plot. It’s definitely twisty and unexpected, I just didn’t find this one as enjoyable as her other books. I still recommend reading/listening if you enjoy Kiersten’s writing, like dual POVs and timelines, and want a quick book.
The narrators both did a fabulous job! This was actually my second book in a row narrated by Abigail Reno (completely unplanned). The production was well done.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC. This review will be shared on NetGalley and Goodreads.

The Last Trip is a fast-paced thriller that will keep readers guessing until the very last page.
Calvin and Sadie are squeezing that babymoon in at the last minute. With only three weeks before her due date, they escape to a remote snowy cabin for a little rest and relaxation before their world is to be upended. Unfortunately, the cabin owners prove a nuisance the entire time they are visiting, and Sadie senses she’s being watched. Add in another shocking bit of news from her fiancé and this “last trip” is anything but relaxing.
This novel is a bit of a twist on the typical “isolated retreat” setting, with the added layer of a couple on the brink of a major life change. The fact that secrets start to surface definitely adds to the psychological suspense. Though the pacing kept me reading, the character motives lacked depth and some of the plot points felt a little too far-fetched. Sadie’s story is the quintessential beach read that entertains without requiring too much focus.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and author Kiersten Modglin for the advanced copy of the audiobook. The Last Trip is out on March 4th. All opinions are my own.

4.5/5
Excellent fast paced, short thriller. I like that Kiersten Modglin never wastes any time in her books.

The Last Trip by Kiersten Modglin
Calvin and Sadie decide to take a trip to a remote cabin shortly before the birth of their firstborn. Things are tense as just the day before, Calvin confessed he just learned he has a daughter. The cabin owners keep coming around and acting strange, adding more tension to their trip. As Sadie is getting more paranoid they decide to cut their short trip but upon arriving home, things are worse than before.

I loved this book, it was quick paced and completely unpredictable.

4.5 rounded up.
I’m a Kiersten Modglin fan so I raced to snap up the ARC when I saw she had a new book out. It didn’t disappoint!
Premise - a twisted love triangle between a creepy professor, his bisexual wife, and his hot young student results in murder when the babymoon of nightmares ends in revelation after unwelcome revelation.
Modglin is a master of plot and voice. The twists were expertly placed, the characters vivid and charming (even the bad guys had a psychopathic seductiveness), and I had to find out how this twisted plan turned out. I couldn’t trust anyone, it was so fun!
I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Abigail Reno and Jay Myers. Their reads were delightful and they each captured the spirit of their characters so well!
Thanks, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was completely immersed in this short audio, drawn in from start to finish. The story captivated me, and I felt every twist and turn with my whole body, never knowing what to expect next. The unexpected twists kept me on the edge of my seat, making it a thrilling experience. While I didn’t fully anticipate the conclusion, it still left a lasting impression. The creativity and depth of the narrative were impressive, and I appreciated how the story kept me engaged the entire time. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’m left wanting more!

The Last Trip
Was an excellent read with a very evil main character. Modglin is a master. Narrator was great.

I always appreciate how Kiersten Modglin doesn't pad her thrillers. They're usually pretty lean and I just get to enjoy the shenaningans, twists and melodrama without ever getting bored. This was a solid domestic thriller. There were enough hints to everything sprinkled throughout that even though I had no idea where it was going, it made sense when it got there. Also there was some satisfying comeuppance, even if the ending was a little wonky. The narrators did great jobs with their respective sections.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher!

When Sadie learns that her fiancée, Calvin, has a daughter he didn't know about, Sadie is blindsided and understandably upset. Still, she's determined not to let this bit of information ruin their last trip before their baby is born. Setting off for a quiet retreat in a remote vacation cabin, the couple tries to make the best of a tense situation. Unfortunately, the peculiar cabin owners are a pretty constant presence, and an expected guest further complicates the issue.
Kiersten Modglin is one of the authors whose books always jump to the top of my queue because her audiobooks are one-day listens every time, without fail. The narration is consistently as suspenseful as the writing, and I blow right through them. This book was no exception. I was hooked from the beginning; the twists were interesting, and the end was good. The only thing I didn't love was that the big twist was pretty far-fetched and I personally struggle with that, but I think overall the story is really good. I could definitely see fans of Arrangement series enjoying this one in one sitting.

If you know me, you know Kiersten Modglin is one of my favorite authors! Her books are so quick and easy to read, and she really is the queen of twists! The narrators of her audiobooks are always excellent as well.
So of course - I devoured this book, I really liked both POV’s of the story, and I was completely shocked by the twist!

What in the twisty twist did I just read? My brain feels like it looks like one of those tumbleweeds with wires crossed back and forth and back and forth. This was a fun and quick listen. Calvin is gross but I’m not really sure how I feel about the other characters either. I don’t know that the twists really add up but give it a listen and decide for yourself. Thank you NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

The Last Trip

Narrated by Abigail Reno; Jay Myers
Another fantastic book from Kiersten Modglin! The thing I love about her stories is that they are always so unique. This one is another prime example of that. Calvin and Sadie are about to have a baby and they decide to get away for one last trip before they become a family of three. Upon arriving at the secluded little cabin that they're staying at, they meet the homeowners, who are creepily present. Things progress from their, with things getting weirder and weirder. You might think you know what's going to happen, but I guarantee you, you have NO idea. I can't tell you anymore without giving the twists and turns away, but it goes without saying that this is one wild ride and you won't be able to put it down until the very last page. The narration was great as well and really brought all of the characters to life. I just love KMod.
Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Midglin for the chance to binge this ARC and review it!

Another great book from one of my favorite authors. She’s my “auto buy author” because her books never disappoint. This is a story about Sadie and her fiancé Cal who are expecting a baby and decide to take a baby moon. Nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted. The narrator does a great job of pulling you into the story!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the book #TheLastTrip by #KierstenModglin. This book is so crazy with lies and a very big secret and I loved it. Calvin and Sadie are about to be parents and taking one last trip before the baby comes. Sadie has a bad feeling like she is being watched and the owners of where they are staying are acting very strange. After leaving early for home, something still feels off to Sadie and she decides to find out what’s going on. What she finds is something so horrible and shocking.

Calvin and Sadie have three weeks before their baby is due. Deciding to go on one last trip together while it's just the two of them, the trip starts out terribly with Calvin getting some shocking news. Things go downhill from there....
It's best if you go into this book blind. I felt like it was plodding along nicely and the storyline seemed pretty straight forward so when the first big twist came, I was gobsmacked. Then the author hits us again and again and I found myself shaking my head in awe by the end. What an unpredictably fabulous twisted tale! At just over 200 pages and only 4.5 hours long on audio, this book is one you'll breeze through. It's short and easy to read and very hard to stop once you start it.
This is my favourite book of K Mod's I think! All the stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
This was an entertaining thriller... The twist in end was kinda laughable. FAR FETCHED.... not realistic.... really bad. BUT I still enjoyed the book.
I would not be surprised to find out this author is a HUGE fan of Frieda McFadden- tried to write like her.
