Double Crossed is a taut and gripping thriller that wastes no time pulling you into its dangerous world. Detective Ronan McCullough, still recovering from injuries and trauma from his last case, is forced back into action when the murder of a federal agent leads to a tangled web of encrypted money laundering, secret deals, and betrayals that hit far closer to home than he could have imagined.

What makes this book shine is Parker’s ability to balance relentless pacing with strong character work. Ronan is not a superhero cop—he’s scarred, exhausted, and fighting through his own doubts, particularly as he wrestles with the personal decision of proposing to his longtime boyfriend in a profession where acceptance isn’t guaranteed. That vulnerability makes him all the more compelling as he faces ruthless enemies and deadly consequences.

The plot itself is a maze of twists and turns, with every revelation leading to deeper layers of deception. Just when you think you’ve pieced it together, Parker throws in another surprise that keeps you questioning everyone’s motives. The use of encryption codes and digital crime adds a fresh, modern edge to the traditional police procedural framework, making the stakes feel timely and urgent.

With sharp writing, authentic tension, and a protagonist you can truly root for, Double Crossed delivers everything you want in a gritty detective mystery. It’s a smart, fast-paced read that blends action, emotion, and suspense in equal measure. Fans of high-stakes thrillers and character-driven mysteries should absolutely pick this one up.

The thing that makes this book stand out is the authors way of writing the main character. We don't miss any feelings from the detective and it makes for a nice close read because it feels like you really can get close and personal.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Ok so if a blur has the word "encryption" in it, colour me interested!

I seriously would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery thrillers.

Double Crossed is fast-paced, full of action and mystery. The plot involves weapons illegal trading and cryptocurrency dealings and the main character, Detective Ronan, although still recovering from injuries suffered during a previous case gets sucked into the action when everything seems to be unraveling nearer to his home and family than he would've liked to. He also has an inner turmoil as he wants to propose to his long term boyfriend but is afraid of the consequences as a gay marriage may not be seen as a positive in the police force. Entertaining!
I thank the author, his publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

Double Crossed is an absolute rollercoaster of a read! Ronan McCullough’s journey as he tries to recover from his last case while diving into this deadly new one had me hooked from the start. The high stakes and constant twists kept me on the edge of my seat—just when I thought I knew what was happening, the story would take a dark turn. The mystery around the encrypted money laundering scheme was brilliant, and I loved how Ronan had to dig through a web of lies, secrets, and betrayal.

What really stood out was how well-developed Ronan’s character is. You feel his exhaustion, frustration, and determination. The pacing was spot on, and the stakes only got higher with each chapter. The way the encryption codes tied everything together was genius. I couldn’t put this one down—definitely a must-read for anyone who loves a fast-paced, gritty thriller!

Double Crossed is a fast-paced thriller that grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. Ronan McCullough, still recovering from his last case, is pulled into a deadly chase when a federal agent turns up dead, tied to an encrypted money laundering operation. The deeper Ronan digs, the more deception he uncovers—even from those he trusts most. I loved how the tension kept building, and just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist sent me reeling.

Okay, Double Crossed did NOT come to play! It grabbed me by the collar, threw me into a whirlwind of lies, murders, and secret codes, and left me gasping for air. Ronan McCullough is just trying to put himself back together, but the universe (and some seriously shady villains) have other plans. Every chapter had me side-eyeing characters, questioning motives, and muttering, "Oh no, no, no..." under my breath. If you like thrillers that make your pulse race, your trust issues worse, and your brain work overtime—this one’s for you. 🎭🔎💥

This was a tough start for me, I found it slower and it was hard to get through the first bit. It did however pick up and once the story itself got going it was faced paced and I wanted to read more and see where the story went and how it would finish. For me I just needed to get through the first chapters to get into it. I would recommend to push through if this is the same for you as you won't be disappointed once the story gets going
