This story started so strong. Natalia and Klaus meet at a hotel and have a steamy night together. After a miscommunication and blunder by Klaus, they dont see each other again for three months and that could summarize what happens for most of the book. They get together, they have a miscommunication or Klaus messes up then they dont see each other for months. I really wanted to like it but I was getting whiplash from the back and fourth. For a couple in their 30s and 40s, they felt incredibly immature. I was also extremely disappointed by the ending.

after being disappointed by the first book in the series, I decided to give one more chance to the author and to this universe but I found this novel lacking, I didn't particularly care about any of the main characters and I very much disliked one plot point that happens later in the story as well as the third act break up.

After the disappointment of the first book and learning a bit more of what happens in this one, I won't be bothering with it.

This book had bones for a really great story between two characters with complex backstories. Overall, I did enjoy reading this and it was interesting to see how these two would navigate their relationship while handling the burdens of their trauma. Plus, the spice was really well done.

That being said, there are two issues with this book that I think hold it back from being a real standout for romance readers. First being the constant time lapses between chapters. There was SO MUCH context and character development that occurred between these chapters that would've made this so much stronger. Not to mention, the interfemale relationships deserved a more prominent spotlight in this book. I would have loved to see more interactions between Natalia and the three prominent female characters in her life (Phaedra, Aunt Min and Sheila, of course). The real meat of the story was left out in favor of the internal war of whether or not she should be with Klaus.

Secondly, there were a few moments where the language was suddenly so clinical it took me out of the moment. Don't get me wrong, I love a good set of vocabulary that makes me lock in a little closer to the meaning of the words, but the overly formal dialogue was just a bit detached for me. This is a romance, it should be passionate rather than stuffy and formal.

I still give it three stars for being an entertaining read. I'd love to pick up other books in the series to see some more Josie Juniper characters!

The story was fun to read about Natalia and Klaus’ romance and going into the F1 universe once more. I enjoyed the age-gap and their chemistry - just not as invested in their relationship - although I enjoyed the build up with their relationship.

I picked this up because I am a new fan of F1 and love the setting! I did enjoy this book but had some issues/questions to it: 1) their immediate fling which is the basis for the title - I know it’s a romance but I wish there was some stranger danger alarms in their heads. 2) the description of Klaus resembling Toto, who is a handsome man but not the man I want to picture in some of these scenes (and poor Susie aka Sofia), 3) Natalia’s age - she sometimes felt younger than a mid-30s woman. I am also in this age range and I sometimes felt she needed to grow up and i can see how it’s inferred by her upbringing but her and Phae felt young with little responsibility. I did see growth and I am glad the family got back together and started to heal. Things tied up well but I wasn’t on the edge of my seat or always rooting for the main love story. They’re likable but something was a bit off for me.

Cars. Spice. Angst. Billionaire Romance-ish?
The sexual tension between the two main characters, Klaus and Natalia was thick! Whew!
The main characters have extremely complex histories with strained relationships that significantly impact and direct their interactions throughout the story.
While we got a great deal of character development, I felt that there was a lot of build up (based on character backgrounds) and then we didn't go anywhere with the build up in the plot. The connectedness of the plot was a bit lacking for me and I feel like I am still waiting for something to happen.
The spice in the book was top tier, but I wanted more plot, more excitement. I think another aspect I had some trouble with was the time jumps. Usually this doesn't bother me, but something about the way this was written into the plot with the dual POV was frustrating.
I do think with more plot development, this could have easily been a 3-4 star book for me.
I want a Cosmin and Phaedra book!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

With the newest season of F1 on Netflix currently I had to bump this one up on my tbr. I really wanted to love it - steamy, team principal and a journalist, he's a widower, it had the makings of a great romance. However, each chapter jumps in time whether it's a week, two weeks, a month, two months making it very hard to keep track of what is going on. The entire book takes place in about a 2 year time period. I felt that it was choppy with key plot points missing when there was so much potential.

I was interested to read this after seeing these characters in the first Frontrunners book. I have been loving Formula 1 romances lately. It was nice seeing how Natalia and Klaus’s relationship developed throughout the story. Overall, I just wish that I could’ve connected to the characters a little bit more.

Overall, I enjoyed this story as I do many F1 romances. I did honestly have a hard time liking our FMC, Natalia. She was kind of unlikable and I couldn't get fully invested in her and Klaus' romance. It felt like more of just a physical, surface-level attraction than true emotional feelings for each other. I did enjoy the age-gap and "forbidden" aspect and the spice overall, as well as the F1 aspects.

We are back in the world of car racing. Natalia has a new job as a lead journalist for auto racing magazine. She must interview legend in the business and one of them happens to be Klaus. But the complication is that there was an unforgettable night shared by Natalia and Klaus years ago. It really is a fascinating world to discover in car racing. It was also interesting to see how Natalia had to deal with her own childhood issues in order to move forward through the future. I love seeing how much clouds was interested in Natalia, and that he was pursuing her in a way more than her pursuing him. Fantastic.

You do not have to understand cars or racing to adore every moment of this romance. Coming In Hot by Josie Juniper is a racing billionaire romance full of trials, surprises, and plenty of spice.

Juniper was wonderful about building up tension between the main characters, Natalia and Klaus, through circumstances and each characters’ flaws. I appreciated how much depth the characters had, including the story of Natalia’s parents.

The relationships woven throughout and why the challenges that happened within them and the timeline, were realistic and well written.

I appreciated the writing style and wonder what Klaus would sound like in audio book format. There was both plot and spice and everything nice in-between!

My favorite part about Coming In Hot was that it was a billionaire romance that felt realistic from the spice to Klaus not being so nice. You could tell that the author had a journalism background which made Natalia’s journalism that much more lively. Who knew a one night stand would end up with raising a baby on farmland? Each character moving through their own trauma and growing from it was chef’s kiss! Overall, Coming In Hot could be taken as a romance with deeper themes woven throughout the text. But if you are here, just for the spice, she delivers!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this complimentary copy in exchange for my honest views/opinions.

loved this one! the first in the series is still my favorite but I really enjoyed Coming in Hot and Klause and Natalia were the perfect couple. they definitely had their ups and downs and the on and off again format made me a little mad, but they loved each other throughout all of it so I had no doubt they would end up together!

can’t wait for the next book! 💞

Set around the F1 racing schedule, Natalia and Klaus have an unforgettable night, only to discover Natalia is a new journalist covering F1 while Klaus is a Team Principal (TP). As months go on, their push and pull becomes something more.

This novel follows F1, which isn't something I'm very familiar with. There are tons of locations, which were great to see, though I would have liked more time with the sport itself.

Related to character growth, Natalia grows as she navigates her childhood trauma related to her parents. This had damaged so much of her romantic relationships, including with Klaus, that it was good to see growth. I struggled with other character development moments for each of the main characters though. For example, maybe the resolution with her best friend happened in the first book, but it felt disjointed.

The plot features time jumps that didn't always flow for me. The plot had great tension until about half way. For me, the third act wasn't where I thought we were going with the story. That said, I did enjoy the ending!

Featuring:
🏎 F1
🏎 One night stand that turns into something more
🏎 Age Gap
🏎 Finding love after tragedy

the age gap and power dynamic gave me the ick tbh. i just kept imagining the male main character as Christian Horner and i couldn’t deal with that.

I hate writing bad reviews but not as much as me being dishonest in a review and because of that I will always be honest when it comes to reviews. This was the first book I had to DNF because I’m my opinion, there was nothing memorable. Starting with the characters, in my opinion they came off childish but mainly because there was no character building nor development. Way too many time jumps and not enough writing plots and that kind of ties into the lack of building your characters. Readers were told a lot about the characters instead of being shown which means you’re unable up be emotionally connected to these characters. Natalia comes off childish with a lack of self control and professionalism. There’s a lack of substance in the plot, the romance, the characters. The needed to be more emotion, heavy structuring and convoluted writing. I liked the concept of the book, I just wish it was executed well.

On a positive note, this was my first F1 romance and I am really interested in reading other books in the genre! I was a little jarred at the spice so early on- I like spice but I like a build up to it, especially if it’s going to be more descriptive. Nonetheless, I continued through. Slowly, Natalia became hard to like and ch. 8 was the nail in the coffin for me. Really self-centered behavior and it’s hard to continue on with a MC you don’t like :(

after reading the first book, i requested this immediately yet there’s something i’m not quite connecting with- i gave it a few attempts by after a couple days, i think im ready to try something new and will be dnf’ing this (for now?). to those who love her work or sports romance, i would still recommend!! 💞

the PERFECT read to kick-off the first race week of the f1 season. as a f1 girly i was LIVING reading this book
talia is a newly hired f1 journalist for a racing magazine and happens to have a one night stand with an older gentleman one night at a bar... this gentleman just so happens to be the team principal of the f1 team emerald. this was such a cute story of giving love another shot after death of a spouse and the entanglement within the paddock.

loved the accuracy of the f1 world and the storyline had me blushing and having a blast while reading.

"Oh God. What the hell have I done? Apparently I’ve had a one-off with one of the most important non-driver figures in the sport that’s about to become my life. Goodbye, professional credibility.".

Coming In Hot is a romance novel with a FMC in her thirties making choices like a woman in her thirties. There is a believable push and pull between our FMC and MMC.

The pacing was jarring at first, but I came to love that the fast paced chapters skipped the minutia of day to day worrying.

As the 2nd book in the series, it offers enough background information on characters to be read as a stand alone, but is vague enough on the details to make me go back and read the first book.
