Reading this book felt like YOU and White Lotus had a deliciously murderous little love child. I am a general fan of vigilantism- but I am a cheerleader with pom poms and confetti for a femme fatale, revenge seeking, woman who happens to be a serial killer.
The story follows Lily who is on the brink of 30 and owns a wildly successful catering company in Chicago. Every summer she takes four weeks off from her high pressure life to slum it in a gorgeous and picturesque Caribbean paradise as a lifeguard for the Riovan- a superficial wellness resort that expertly disguises making people feel like shit beneath a flawlessly packaged and meticulously marketed façade of self-improvement. With so many horrible people around, it is easy for Lily to target someone new every summer and execute them before her four weeks are up. With a tortured past and a traumatized present, it is easy to see the justification behind Lily’s little murder spree. When sexy ass journalist Daniel shows up and starts asking a lot of pointed questions, Lily has to ensure that her crimes stay concealed. What better way to ensure your safety than to fall in love with the very man pinning you as his #1 suspect?
Let me just say, I was rooting for Lily from start to finish. You could tell that there was something super devastating about her past that was going to come to light eventually. It was in the ways she spoke about the loss of Jess that seemed just too huge of an incident that it couldn't have just been something as common as a break up… but I was GAGGED at what actually happened. No wonder Lily went on her annual little four week murder trip to blow off some steam, I would too. The thing about this book was that it was effortlessly predictable in the sense that Daniel ended up not being who he said he was. That much was OBVIOUS, but what really got me and where the REAL twist comes in and smacks you in the face- is when you learn what REALLY happened to Jess. No spoilers because that is genuinely the puzzle piece you forgot you were missing- but the last 10% of this book is pure genius. The final beach revelation, the podcast, the finale episode, the ending??!?!?!?!? It really just pulled all these loose threads together and wove the devastating story of Lily’s life.
I also really enjoyed that these characters stuck to their morals- however skewed- the entire book. It was realistic, and it felt authentic to who each character was. Lily was going to kill and Daniel was going to be on the other side of that moral compass and that is who they were and they loved each other more for it. I loved that we got to see things from Lily’s point of view and while some might point her out to be a somewhat unreliable narrator, I think it gave Joe Goldberg the way we got to hear her inner monologue and her reasoning behind the previous murders and what drove her to that point. I think this book should be an immediate read for anyone who loves a good chaotic female serial killer and a delicious romance embroiled in lies and deceit. LOVED IT. 5/5 stars.

I really enjoyed this. I did expect it to have more of a thriller or mystery plot, but did read more romance to me. It delves into some discussion in diet culture, self-image, depression, and hits on end of life decisions amongst those who are not legally married and whose wishes may not be honored due to delusional family.

I liked the message about how the diet industry gives us unreaslistic expectations however it kinda blurred together between her new love and old, and everything in between. I am not sure how i feel about it

A female serial killer?! Yes, please.
I went into this book wanting to love it so so much and it was just okay. As someone who wants to be a serial killer, I don't feel like she was very smart about how she went about it. Also, lots of heavy heavy stuff in this book about the diet/fitness industry, which may be a trigger for some.
Thanks, Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

Thank you netgally, Sourcebooks Landmark and Siena Sharpe for letting me read this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This book was very different then I expected. I thought it was going to be a thriller but it ended up reading more like a romance. I loved the idea of a female serial killer but I missed the tention in the book. What also confused me a little bit was how Daniel was the only one who connected the dots that every July for four years there was a death and it always happens when Lily is there.
The first time Lily and Daniel got I didn’t like it as much. I missed the tention between them, not much was happening yet. But I did like how they handled the ending, them as a couple grew on me during the rest of the book.
I would have liked the book to go more into depth about the diet culture (which was the reason Lily stared killing people). Right now it just scratches the surface of the issue when I think it could have gotten way deeper.
All in all, I would recommend the book if you’re looking for a romance with a few thoughts of killing people.

Really enjoyed this book. Was fast paced and a great mix of romance and mystery. I could not wait to see where the book was going and devoured it in two sittings.

A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe
This book would be the perfect summer beach read. It was completely unexpected overall and not something I would normally read, but was a fun book to experience.
The book is a murder/mystery/thriller/romance. Not a genre blend that I knew existed but here we are.
A Killer Getaway follows along as Lily Lennox ventures to her summer of working as a lifeguard at the Riovan Wellness Resort. She has returned to this job, leaving her successful life behind, every summer for five years. All wouldn’t be amiss if it wasn’t for the mysterious way people seem to die on the island every year when Lily is around.
She’s just helping the universe right it’s cosmic injustices, right?
Well the new guest Daniel Black, starts sniffing around and asking questions. What could go wrong?
The story was twisty with an enemies to lovers vibe all while Daniel is trying to piece together the truth. Cat and mouse tension with a side of beach resort fun.
As a reader, you want to root for the FMC narrator. Who doesn’t love a morally gray character?
Fun read. Check it out if you’re in the mood for a thriller.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher Sourcebooks Landmark for the ARC to read and give an honest review.

I received A Killer Getaway for free in exchange for my honest review. Um excuse me? This book was amazing! I didn’t know what to expect from an author I had never heard of before, but let me tell you I will be auto purchasing from her in the future! It’s so interesting to follow the story from the perspective of the killer, and shockingly liking the killer. I also loved the character of Daniel. What an absolutely great book! I was sorry to see it finished! I would definitely read a sequel!

I couldn’t put this book down! I love a good mystery and this book was no exception! I would definitely recommend!

Lily and Jessica seemed happy together until they spent a vaction at the Riovan resort located in the Carribbean. While Lily is flawlessly beautiful, Jess is self concoinous about her weight and body image. The Riovan is famous for weight loss and Jess is commited to make it work. until she spirals when they return home. Lily Lennox has been a life guard for the past five years at the wellness resort Riovan. Every year someone dies at the Riovan either a staff member or a guest, and every year Lily is very careful to select the one who will be killed. Lily carefully studies the bio's of the guests to see how she can kill them to make it look like an accident. Daniel Black is a journalist doing a story about Riovan when he meets Lily. The are attracted to each other from the start, but when Daniel starts to ask questions about the guest that died last year Lily is becoming suspicous of him and Daniel is now moving up on her list of targets. This was a quick read that had both mystery/thriller and romance twisteed together until the very end. I would like to thank both NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for letting me read an advance copy of this novel.

Such a unique premise, engaging, and my favorite genre (mystery and romance). Thanks for letting me read it!

Look, this is a good book—I can totally see why most people would love it. But for me? It was like going out with that handsome, smart, perfectly nice guy. The date was fun, the conversation flowed... but when you say goodnight, you just don't feel that spark. You can't even pinpoint why—there is nothing alarmingly wrong with the guy, it just didn't click. That's exactly how I felt about this book.
The premise got me immediately: Liz, the (im my option, unreliable) narrator, may or may not have been responsible for the deaths of people in this fitness resort that she has been working every summer for the past 5 years. She sees herself as some kind of vigilante protector of people with toxic people in their lives, but as the story unfolds, it becomes painfully clear she's just a deeply damaged person chasing revenge. The writing is sharp - Liz's dry, detached voice perfectly captures her disturbed mindset, and I loved how the first-person POV made me question everything she said.
But here's the thing, as someone who nerds out about true crime, the actual crime parts left me frustrated. After five years of murders, Liz's methods feel sloppy, with loose ends that would've gotten a real-life killer caught by chapter three. I wasn't sure if this was intentional writing, or if this was just creative liberty to keep the story going, but this frustrated me a bit and I think it was the reason I couldn't get more attached to the book.
This is more a romance with hints of crime (instead of crime per se).
The other elements felt half-baked too. The romance? a bit confusing and didn't feel deep enough. The exploration of body image and toxicity? Glossed over when it could've been powerful. Even Liz's late-stage self-awareness - realizing she's was not in check with her reality - didn't hit as hard as it should've.
I didn't hate it. The writing kept me engaged, and Liz is a fascinating trainwreck of a protagonist. But by the end, I was left wanting more - more tension, more depth, just... more.
It's a solid 3,5 star read, and I'm sure people will really like it. It was just not my cup of tea.

A Killer Getaway focuses on FMC Lily Lennox. Every summer for the last 5 years Lily goes on hiatus from her successful business to take up a lifeguard position at the Riovan, a wellness retreat in the Caribbean, leaving her friends confused to her motives. Is it coincidence that every summer someone mysteriously dies at the Riovan?
This book was very fun and had a great concept. I loved the suspense and wondering if the killer would be caught and if I actually wanted them to be caught 😂 I did not see the ending coming and was pleasantly surprised by it!
However, I did find Lily to be very frustrating at times. For someone who was supposed to be so organized and methodical, she was very chaotic and impulsive. I also felt her relationship with Daniel was a little lacking. I think they needed more time to build up to the level of devotion we saw at the end of the story.

✨Lily Lennox leaves her very successful job every summer for four weeks to work as a lifeguard at the Riovan Wellness Resort on a sun-drenched Caribbean island. Noone at home understands why. However, they also don’t realize while she’s there, people end up dead.
✨Lily makes toxic people pay for what they’ve done, and even better, she’s great at getting away with it.
✨This summer, however, there’s a small kink in her plans. That kink happens to be a very handsome hotel guest, Daniel Black, who’s asking one too many questions. What’s the phrase they say, “keep your friends close, your enemies closer”? Lily plans on keeping Daniel too close, which spells trouble.
✨This book was so much fun!! I loved the backdrop of the Caribbean along with a side of vengeance-y murder. A great read to pack in your beach bag!

From the time I began to read this book I had the hardest time putting it down. Sure, it was a bit slow at the start but there was something about this character that made me desperate to know how things resolved. I’m also into any book that incorporates investigators snooping around so I was eager for this one. I liked the characters and the way we see her choose targets. I also liked how her past was woven in the story. Definitely liked the ending the most because it felt realistic and left me curious as to where things go from there.

3.5 stars rounded to 4.
This was a fast paced thriller that had an interesting cast of characters and was a really fun read. I was not expecting the twist in the book and found the ending satisfying. Having a female serial killer as the MC was a first for me but I found everything about her so fascinating. Overall, a great book.
In A Killer Getaway, we meet Lily, who is going to an island in the Caribbean to lifeguard for the month. This is her 5th year coming back for the job. It turns out, Lily murders someone each year she is there and has the same plans this year but someone is in her way. A journalist named Daniel is sniffing around and has Lily as a suspect. They have been hanging around each other a lot at the resort and start to catch feelings for each other. But Lily is a killer, and Daniel is getting closer to finding out the truth.

A fast paced book that draws you in immediately. A unique plot with characters that you become invested in - it’s a great beach read for people that love spice and thrills!

I came for the tropical escape, stayed for the body count, and now I’m suspicious of everyone with a fruity drink and perfect teeth. This book is pure cozy crime fun—clever, fast-paced, and filled with characters who all seem just guilty enough to keep you guessing. The amateur sleuth vibes were strong, the banter was on point, and honestly? I’d book another deadly vacation with this series in a heartbeat.
If you love a mystery with just the right balance of danger, drama, and daiquiris—A Killer Getaway is your next beach read (just maybe... sleep with one eye open). 😉

Firstly I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC. This is my first time doing this, and I hope to get more opportunities in the future!
Lilly struggles with the inner turmoil of her childhood trauma and losing the love of her life.
To remedy the pain she likes to getaway to a wellness resort in the Caribbean and seek her own form of justice. Lily strives to make the world a better place, and she can only see one way to do that. Only one way to save lives. To prevent what happened to her true love from ever happening to anyone else.
To see through the eyes of Lily Lennox. To feel her emotions, read her thoughts. You may find yourself in moral and ethical dilemmas because you can relate. You can see so clearly where she’s coming from, what drives her. You want the justice she was denied.
This was an incredibly well thought out and researched story. A quick read with beachy/summer themes, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it an “easy beach read”. As an incredibly empathic person, this book gave me some anxiety. Not just typical romance genre “will they/won’t they” anxiety, but the fear of getting caught doing something much worse than kissing behind the bleachers. And when I wasn’t empathizing with Lily in her quest for justice, I was a little bit mortified by her ease of committing the acts.
She showed psychopathic tendencies rooted in depression and trauma. But only a small percentage of the time, just those 4 weeks in the summer. For the other 48 weeks of the year, Lily leads a normal if not dull life. Two sides of the same coin. A conundrum of moral ambiguity.
As for the romance aspect of the book, I give it a rating of 2.5/5 on the spice scale. More for quality of the spice and less for the quantity. The romance between the FMC and the MMC was definitely a subplot. One open door sex scene chapter 13. Focuses more on feeling and emotions than the graphic body parts. Mild flashback description of sex scene in chapter 22.
The resolution of the romance and story overall was very satisfying. I feel like the author did a great job of creating intrigue throughout the story and gradually dropping little tid bits of information to keep the reader hooked. The pacing felt good, in spite of one overly descriptive electrical lesson lol. Some aspects of Sienna’s storytelling even reminded me Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. So extra points for that. (Can you tell I’m writing this section on a different day? 😅)
I’m honestly not sure if I would read it again. Maybe now that I know the story and how everything works out, it wouldn’t be as nerve wracking for me. Would the excellent writing and story telling be worth going thru some of that discomfort again?
TLDR:
This book almost felt like a psychological thriller with a touch of romance sprinkled in.
There was some clever wit and unspoken words.
There was lots of tension as you read from the Lily’s POV.
HEA.

As soon as I saw female serial killer, I was in. Female serial killer should 1000% be a trope, because I want to devour every book with one. Add a touch of banter, flirtation, etc and I’m sold. This book had those, but it was so much deeper. It was a fluffy romcom where the FMC just happens to be a serial killer. This book was also a mystery. A thriller. A commentary on the fitness and diet industry. It was a journey for the FMC to forgive and love herself again.
Yeah, there’s an attractive mystery dude that is lovingly described as a nerdy Wolverine (🫠). He is definitely more than he seems. Why is he even there? He doesn’t fit the crowd. Of course we’re cheering for them to get together, by any means possible. But, sometimes it may not be possible, right?
