A perfect blend of thriller, suspense and romance that kept me engaged for hours! This is a book that could easily be read in one sitting.

Lily Lenox is a very morally gray character, yet I found myself in her corner throughout the entire story. Over the past five years, Lily has been grieving the loss of someone she loves very much. As a way to cope with this grief, she has been returning, every summer, to the last place she considered herself truly happy, a wellness resort where she works as a lifeguard. The thing is, she doesn't love this place anymore; she sees the resort and many of the employees there, as toxic to everyone around them. She's not really there to relive happy memories, she's there to seek revenge. Every year since Lily has returned, there has been an unexpected death, usually by a freak accident that is explained away by the resort. This year, however, her plans are disrupted by the very handsome and very endearing, Daniel Black. Lily connects with him instantly, but when he starts asking questions, she realizes that their connection wasn't as genuine as she had hoped.

There are not many female serial killer main characters out there that I find myself rooting for, but Lily is the exception. Her actions cross the line, but her intentions come from a "good" place. She's trying to protect vulnerable people from toxic, negative, mentally and physically destructive behavior from others. So, while you're reading and hoping she will make a better choice this time- you're also not mad at her when she does the inevitable. It really is such a twisty read that gives you plenty of opportunity to question morality and ethics.

I finished this book, immediately ready for a continuation to see what Daniel & Lily's future has in store. Highly, highly recommend and I am looking forward to more by Sienna Sharpe!

This book was completely different from what I expected going in…and I honestly loved that! Sometimes the best thrillers are the ones that subvert your expectations, and Killer Getaway definitely did that. The story takes some bold turns, pushing you to think about morality in ways that really stick with you after you’re done reading.

The only reason I can’t give it the full five stars is because it took me a while to feel anything toward the FMC. In the beginning, I found myself a little detached from her, but once the story hit its stride, I was fully invested and fascinated by where it was going.

This is one of those books I truly believe is best if you go in blind, because the less you know, the more fun you’ll have following all the unexpected directions the plot takes. And if you enjoy stories that force you to sit with tough questions about right, wrong, and the messy in-between, this is absolutely a book you should pick up.

I also listened to the audiobook, which was really well done and made the experience even more immersive. The narration kept the tension high and pulled me straight into the story.

In short, Killer Getaway is a unique, thought-provoking thriller that will surprise you in the best ways. Fans of unpredictable, morally complex stories will definitely want this one on their radar.

I enjoyed this book but the beginning did drag on a bit. It did pick up after that and that’s when things really got going. It really hit home on the diet culture we live in. I’m glad it ended with complete closure. I would recommend this book. Overall it was a good quick read.

I am a sucker for serial killer stories and this one had such depth and complexity!! I was honestly blown away by how much I empathized and wanted to cheer on Lily Lennox, a thirty year old bisexual entrepreneur seeking revenge over what happened to her girlfriend by trying to rid the world of the toxic people who work at the Riovan, a Caribbean wellness retreat.

Filled with rage, grief and a sense of moral duty, Lily keeps returning to lifeguard at the resort for a month every summer where she targets the most toxic people there, hoping to course correct their victims lives. Unbeknownst to her though, this year there's a true crime podcaster set on uncovering who is the killer behind the series of mysterious deaths that keep recurring at the resort.

Tensions rise as Lily and Daniel play a game of high stakes cat and mouse, while also getting entangled in a passionate affair that has both their hearts on the line. Will Lily pay for her 'crimes' and can Daniel understand her motives? Only the end will tell and Justis Bolding does an excellent job voicing Lily's character in the audiobook edition!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review. This was my first book by the author and I will be eagerly waiting for more. Highly recommended for fans of authors like Brynne Weaver.

I love a good vigilante story! Anyone who has hated their body, struggled to lose weight, and subscribed to crash diets and workout fads can find sympathy with Lily. I can even understand her motives, albeit she goes to the extreme when killing people off in the name of justice. And while anyone can see her plans are never going to get her the peace and closure she craves, readers can empathize with her deep-seated quest to be judge and jury of a toxic culture that is literally ruining lives. Lily and Daniel's chemistry is strong, but I struggled to be comfortable with them together considering the mistrust they have for each other (and with good reason, ofc). While it might seem the plot would lack suspense given readers know the MC is the killer, Sharpe adds enough drama and excitement with Daniel's secrets and Lily's decision of who will be her victim this summer. With so many deserving crappy people at the resort, how is a girl to choose?! While I thought the ending was unlikely and rushed, this was a quick read despite its dark subject matter and themes and makes for an interesting beach read perfect for hot summer days.

Love her or hate her, Lily is 🔥! From the first sun-soaked page to the gasp-worthy finale, I was all in, desperate to see if Lily could outwit everyone…and get away with it.

This book is perfect for readers who crave morally complex heroines, sizzling tropical settings, and a game of cat-and-mouse where you can’t decide who to root for.

“All good things to those who take them.”

It’s a mischievously good summer with “A Killer Getaway” by Sienna Sharpe. I had a really fun time with this first person beach thriller. The Riovan Wellness Center, a Caribbean wellness resort, has a troublesome track record but it can still provide readers with love, crime, fitness, and a mysterious cast of island dwellers. Right and wrong takes center stage in the summer heat as the accident prone resort and Lily Lennox a traditionally available lifeguard meet their match in the curious journalist Daniel Black and the secrets long held under the crashing waves.

The exploration of the Lily Lennox’s worldview at this point in her life is such a strong point in this heart racing story! The mental shift from ‘All good things to those who wait’ (“It’s bullshit” – Lily) to ‘All good things to those who take them’ is made really clear to the reader. Lily being in an expensive resort each summer and wrestling internally with not being able to achieve or retrieve everything she has lost is so interesting. Riovan Wellness Center is intricately thought out and it was a fun puzzle determining if there is still something helpful here as some of the more troublesome elements come to light. The dialogue, particularly between Lily and Daniel, kept me engaged throughout. The breakdown of how previous summer's accidents occurred is really well done. From reading Sienna’s author note it seems like these were a focus and worked through in great detail. That really shows in the story and I think those will be one of the pieces I remember this novel for.

The twist that occurs between Lily and Jessica was worthy of all the buildup. I didn’t seen it coming and I don’t know that many will. It changes the early phone calls from Jessica’s mother in such a dramatic way. "Maybe love doesn't always mean we can rescue each other." You keep thinking there might be an offramp for Lily to find peace or stop but this isn’t that story. I really enjoyed the Lily sleepwalking storyline. In a place where she has previously been successful and feels confident the exploration of what happens when someone all about control loses it, in more ways than one, is exceptional.

As a beach thriller, Sienna nailed it. I read this book over the summer and it was exactly what I was looking for.

I grabbed this one looking for a fun summer thriller and it partially delivered. The summer island vibes were there, but I would have liked some more excitement for a vigilante thriller. Most of the murders took place in the summers past, so I was missing the thrill of the kill. I did enjoy how it all came together in the end though. I liked the writing style and I would read more by this author.

I feel like an accomplice and I kind of love it!

Following Lily through her time at the Riovan Wellness Resort was thrilling and chaotic! I was rooting for her the entire time! As we walk in her shoes and examine the toxicity she is around, you really want her to burn the whole thing down, consequences be damned. As I reading, I was uncertain if I'd like the ending, but literally the epilogue made it ALL worth it!! I did also have an issue with the pacing (it was just a bit slower than I expected) and the structure (just because I wanted to know the "plan" from the beginning and then see how this summer was different) but those are really nitpicky things that I didn't diminish the story. I loved this slow burn murder/mystery/romance book. I mean I could see this become a streaming limited series and I WOULD BE JUST AS OBSESSED! I loved it thoroughly! -ps. I read the ending accompanied with the audiobook and OMG CHEF'S KISS!

A Killer Getaway was one of the most unique romance books I've ever read. At first, it took me several tries to get into this book--there was just something about the main character that repelled me. I found it hard to root for her, and couldn't seem to like her throughout the story. It's very difficult to pull off the whole "rooting for evil" thing (at least in my opinion) and I'm not sure this book ever accomplished that. Or, based on the final message of this one, maybe it was never trying to accomplish that in the first place. I really enjoyed this one and found it to be a good blend of romance and thriller. I gave it a four-star rating because I enjoyed it and would recommend it to a friend, but would not read it again.

Lily Lennox was a dedicated businesswoman but for one month out of the year she travels to the the isle of Saint Lisieux and the health resort of Riovan, not as a guest but for a job as a lifeguard. Altruistic you think, not really as her arrival usually coincides with an accidental death, but someone has been watching and begun to put the pieces together.

Unfortunately, I couldn't connect with this book, mainly due to the character of Lily, whom I found unlikable. Despite her obvious inner turmoil and the gradual revelation of her motivations, I struggled to feel sympathetic towards her. She was convinced that in killing her victims she would make the world a better place, acting as judge, jury and executioner, but she was no Dexter. I did enjoy the concept of A Killer Getaway, particularly the intriguing idea of a killer who leads a respectable life for almost the entire year until her desire for revenge became overwhelming and she felt compelled to return to the place she held responsible for the catastrophic event that had changed her life forever and I liked how readers were aware of her guilt from the start, but the motivation behind her actions was only revealed much later, which added to the cat-and-mouse dynamic between her and the mysterious Daniel. It also led to a moral dilemma for Daniel once he knew the truth, whether or not to expose her.

Love a good reverse serial killer!
The FMC Lily comes off as just a normal woman. But every summer, she spends 4 weeks at a resort where she goes to be a "lifeguard". The reader quickly discovers that the "lifeguard" story is just what she tells people because she's going to find her next murder victim! Lily is a serial killer with intentional killings. Why intentional, you say? She is looking to rid the world of one more person who is toxic and has wronged others.
Daniel, our MMC, is a journalist who has shown up at the resort this year, and he is putting a damper on Lily's plan to achieve her goal of ridding the world of one more toxic person.
Lily and Daniel have chemistry and end up putting some strain on Lily's goals.
There are so many stories running throughout the plot, and the reader is constantly trying to figure out how they are going to come together. I have to say I kept thinking I had figured out what was going to happen, only to find out another twist or turn. I was very surprised how everything came together and how it all ended.
Mystery, thriller, romance, and murder are all rolled into the plot so intricately.
The plot was well structured despite all of the stories running through. The pace was fast and made it more exciting to read.
The characters were very well written and developed. Lily, in particular, was complex. Her story almost leaves you a little desensitized to the fact that she is a serial killer. The characters also kept the reader engaged throughout.
I highly recommend this book; it kept me engaged, and I was thoroughly entertained trying to figure out exactly where everything was going to tie in together and how this would end!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!
Happy Reading!

A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe is a fantastic mashup of thriller, women’s fiction, and romcom. This story has so many layers! The layers, though complex, are revealed over time—creating great surprises and twists—layered well, and all layers have great meaning to the characters.

I absolutely loved the main character, who was a morally ambiguous female character who did unlikable things, but was absolutely likable. She was so relatable, and it was fun to go on this journey with her as she made choices based on her emotions and circumstances. She was always the driver in her story, even when it seemed impossible. And her love interest was in such stark contrast to her, that their unfolding romance made the story have added conflict and suspense.

I definitely recommend this book to all those who like an edgy romance, thriller, or women’s fiction. It’s so worth the read!

I also listened to the audiobook version of this story, which was incredibly well done by a single narrator (for single POV). I listened at 1.5x speed, though I could have listened at 1.75x (my normal audiobook listening speed is 1.5-1.75x).

Thank you NetGalley, Sourcebooks Landmark, and RBMedia for the advanced reader copy and advanced listeners copy. I loved this book!

I wanted to love this one and tried multiple times to continue. I even switched to the audiobook hoping that would help. This one just wasn’t for me as it took too long to break into the story and I kept losing interest. I’m sure some will love, but it wasn’t my speed!

A Killer Getaway was such a fun summer read! It’s a romantic thriller with Dexter vibes and a few twists along the way.
The second I saw that the main character was a female serial killer I was sold. Don’t worry though, she only kills those who “deserve it”.
I really liked Lily and the reasoning behind what she does is heartbreaking. It in no ways justifies it but well, the staff at the Riovan - and the purpose of the place - are truly despicable. You can't help but root for her.

The romance subplot was cute. I liked the way the mystery surrounding Daniel and his reasons for being at the Riovan slowly unfolds throughout the book.
I loved the ending! It’s fitting and all things considered, ends on a pretty good note.

I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a beach read that will keep you guessing and is full of mystery and romance.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks and Netgalley for the ARC!

There is something that is always so intriguing about a woman who is a serial killer, and this is what keeps the story moving in this one- what exactly happened that Lily Lennox is enacting revenge for? Set at an expensive "wellness" focused resort, this is rife with fodder for questionable people. I did really like this, but I felt like the aspect of Lily's "origin story" was a little shaky.

I was really excited for this book. The premise was unique and a female serial killer on an island? Sign me up! The beginning of the book was great and really pulled me in. However, once I got to about 20% in, the pacing began to slow and the book really didn’t hold my interest. When I read the description of the book, I was expecting a romance suspense/thriller type book. I think this book would more accurately be described as general woman’s fiction. There’s a sprinkle of romance and a sprinkle of thriller/suspense but there’s also an overarching theme of grief and loss. Unfortunately, I am soft DNF’ing this at 39% for now as I just can’t find the desire to pick it back up, but maybe I’ll come back to it at a later point.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this ARC

Tropes 👉🏼 Serial K!ller, Island Setting, Beach Read, Tragic Past, Revenge, Falling for the one person you shouldn’t fall for

Lily lives a double life. For 11 months of the year she runs a thriving business. But for the other month she works minimum wage as a lifeguard on a tropical island. An island where someone d1es every year during her visit. Only this year, a reporter is sniffing around her story. An incredibly hot reporter. Who also happens to think Lily hung the moon and makes her want in a way she hasn’t since the loss of her girlfriend.

Daniel is my kind of mc. He’s so straight-laced, smart and determined to do the right thing. Lily on the other hand is not my brand of morally grey. She’s been traumatized over and over and seeks revenge in such a dark way to deal with her inability to fix the past.

Overall, the story was a fun summer read even if I couldn’t really connect with Lily.
