A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe is a sizzling blend of romance, suspense, and danger. Set against the backdrop of sun-soaked beaches, the story follows a tangled web of love, revenge, and murder—complete with a captivating female serial killer who steals every scene she’s in. The pacing is sharp, the tension deliciously high, and the chemistry between characters adds just the right amount of heat to balance the darker elements. Narrated by Justis Bolding, the audiobook brings each twist to life with nuance and intensity, making it impossible to hit pause. If you love your thrillers with a romantic edge and a touch of the unexpected, this getaway is one you won’t want to miss.

Lilly Lennox continues to return to a wellness resort that was the last place she was happy … to seek revenge. Twisty story that skips around to reveal the truth. Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for an advanced copy for a honest review.

This book was something else. It surprised me a lot.
I don't typically read books about murder. I'm not even sure how this one came to be in my reading queue, but here we are.
The story was original to me. I've never read about a female serial killer. Having JUST finished the story, I can't say I really liked it.
The lack of remorse really hit me. Maybe that's normal for serial killers, I have no idea. But reading her process and her thoughts was disturbing.
Daniel coming into the picture, and staying in his own way threw me off too. I don't know, this just wasn't the book for me.
Thanks to Netgalley, and the publisher, for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The cover, the title, and the female serial killer 🧑🍳💋people are loving the female serial killer trope? lately.

Lily leaves her business every summer to life guard at a fancy resort. No one really understands why, it doesn't really pay much what's the point?
Also every summer someone has died strange deaths.
This year things at the resort has changed. She doesn't get her usual room and she has a roommate. She also met a guy she can't seem to get away from. And he knew her last name without her telling him. Trying to avoid being asked to many questions is impossible so she keeps him as close as she can.
As she secretly studies everyone that's booked their retreat. Who are these people really?
I really liked the plot of this book it kept me on my toes.

Danger lurks at the wellness resort for all the toxic people in A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe.
"For the last five years Lily has been working as a lifeguard every summer at the Riovan Wellness Resort in the Caribbean. No one has matched the 'accidental' deaths to her time there. Lily is determined to make toxic people pay for their bad behavior. One guess this year, a very attractive guest, has been sking a lot of inconvenient questions. But Lily will not be stopped - no matter what it takes."
I thought this would be a 'revenge fiction' book, but it's more than that. Sharpe looks at some awful cultural norms and makes you look at them too. It's just her MC kills the ones that are deemed too bad to hurt any more people. Lily has her reasons and you find out a little at a time why she's doing it. There is electrifying chemistry between Lily and Daniel. There is some open-door sexy time but it's not graphic.
Lily works through the candidates until she finds the one that needs to go. There's an unexpected result and then an ending I didn't expect. Sharpe gets you to look at another issue through separate eyes.
This was revenge fiction with unexpected depth. I hope we see Lily and Daniel in future books.

At age 29, Lily is off to her month long summer job, on a resort island as a lifeguard. Friends wonder why she does this every year. Daniel is writing an article for FitLife magazine about the resort's wellness program. As they get to know each other, and fall for each other, it seems both are lying. Because every year when Lily is there, someone dies. And Daniel wants to find out the real story behind the murders.
I really enjoyed this book! It keeps you wondering what happened to certain characters and if Daniel and Lily will figure each other out and how it will effect their relationship.
Definitely a fun summer read!

I really wanted to like this book, but ultimately it was not for me. I did DNF about 40% of the way through. I just had a really hard time connecting with the FMC and getting into the story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars
Synopsis: Lily is a rising entrepreneur but goes back to a luxury resort for 4 weeks of work. This just happens to correlate with a string of unexplained deaths at that resort. This time someone else is watching her as well
What I liked: the premise was very interesting and the reasons for Lilly doing what she does could have been great commentary. However I feel like the execution lacked. Daniel and Lilly seem to jump from one situation to another and suddenly couldn’t live without each other. The mystery and how she she chose who was interesting. Overall it was ok

There were many parts of this book that I enjoyed. I loved the female serial killer, and the story of life guard by day, serial killer by night. But for me this just dragged. It seemed to jump back and forth between past and present and it was way to much for me for how this book was written.
Thank you so much for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Sourcebooks Landmark for this absolutely incredible e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
A female serial killer.
Really - that's all one needs to know, because this book is just SO GOOD. Like.... so good. I was rooting for Lily the entire time and I just truly support this amazing journey that she is on.

A KILLER GETAWAY is a great summer (or vacation!) read, perfect for an afternoon at the beach or the pool. In the book's acknowledgments, the author talks about how much fun she had writing it, and that really comes through. This isn't a genre I read a ton of, but that sense of fun pulled me in and kept me turning pages. It's impressive how Sienna Sharpe tackles tough topics while keeping a breezy, witty tone. As someone who truly hated The Biggest Loser, I appreciated the skewering of "wellness" methods thinly disguised as fat shaming (though I also appreciated the bit of backstory given to Serena -- shades of gray). The romance and thriller elements balance perfectly to keep readers guessing true motivations until the very end.

At no point during this book did I have any idea where it was going - and every time I thought I did, it veered off in a completely different (and even better) direction. It was fantastic. I loved it.
A FMC serial killer? Was not on my 2025 bingo card, but now I need so much more of it.
The way Lily and Daniel were written was just so compelling, and I’m thrilled this wasn’t your typical romance arc. The ending in particular? Perfect. Instead of forcing Daniel to compromise his morals, we actually see him hold firm and follow through - and it made their story even stronger.
The character development was top-tier, and the heartbreak and pain woven through the plot were so vivid I could feel them in my chest.
Thank you Sienna Sharpe and Sourcebooks for this eARC!

Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that is about to be released on August 12th called, a Killer Getaway. This is about Lily, who every summer for the past five years has traveled to the same wellness resort in the Caribbean to be a lifeguard. And every year while she was staying there someone has died. She tries to just do her job and to fly under the radar while she's there. She's secretly been serving her own form of justice during her time there and then getting out undetected, until this year. A journalist named Daniel is staying at the resort and he has his eye on her. He starts being flirty and asking questions that indicate he knows more about her than he's letting on. She is suspicious of him but also attracted to him, so the best way to get to know someone is by keeping them close. But she doesn't know how to take care of things this year since Daniel is watching her, he's now a new complication and a handsome distraction to her plans. Overall this was an enjoyable story, but it deals with a lot of heavy topics: mental health, body image, and self harm are all heavy topics. There wasn't a list of content warnings in my ARC copy, but I'm hoping there will be one in the final copy, so please make sure to take care of your mental health before reading! ♥️📚
Thank you to the author and to the publisher for this ARC of A Killer Getaway, in exchange for an honest review.

I’m so sorry, NetGalley. I absolutely hate giving bad ratings to ARCs because I’m so thankful when I receive them but I just could not get into this book for the absolute life of me.
I was first drawn to the cover and title. I was headed to Kauai and thought this might make the perfect beach read with a serial killer twist. The opening chapter on the plane felt pretty promising. Sienna Sharpe took her time detailing the man on the plane and his interactions with the FMC. I felt like I was in for a really immersive experience with animated, well developed characters but almost immediately after this started to just fall flat. By chapter 6 it felt like the author was putting her attention on things I’m not really interested in for a beach read. The direction started to go in a social justice direction that felt like it had nothing to do with the story and more so just the author interjecting personal convictions. It didn’t flow well or add any value to the storyline so it just felt kinda weird and pulled me out of the story. I continued to read though because I wanted to give the author and the book the benefit of the doubt but things didn’t really get better. The inner monologue felt repetitive and the pace felt drawn out. The writing never quite pulled me into the story and overall I just didn’t find it to be gripping. Unfortunately, I don’t think I am a very big fan of Sharpe’s writing style.
Thank you k, NetGalley for an e-ARC of A Killer Getaway in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this layered emotional mystery. I’m not sure to fully classify as mystery or thriller or romance, but it’s got a bit of everything. But the layers of Lily were really interesting to uncover. I can usually spot the twists coming, but I could not in this. It’s a great read but definitely has A LOT of emotional baggage and trigger warnings. I expected a “lighter” mystery with more hi-jinx but this is pretty heavy and unveils a lot of trauma. It was really interesting to actually enjoy a book with so many un likable characters, that usually doesn’t happen for me.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

I picked this out thinking it could be a murder mystery /romcom hybrid—two of my favorite genres.
Sienna Sharpe’s “A Killer Getaway” is deeper than that—an emotional and thought-provoking read.
Lily is returning to a beach island resort for the 5th year. Readers get a vague sense of her purpose through her inner monologue. A quest to find the most toxic person, flashes from the past to understand motivations.
She leaves her life for a month every summer to lifeguard at the resort, and unbeknownst to her co-workers back home or at the resort, she targets victims as a revenge-seeking serial killer.
Her mission this summer is sidetracked by a mysterious journalist whom she is drawn to and who keeps asking hard questions.
Sharpe tempts the reader with glimpses of Lily’s past and snippets of conversations that prompt readers to form opinions and emotions about her life and actions. In Lily Sharpe creates a flawed heroine that draws us in, and repels us in a way.
In David, we’re torn just as she is in her behavior around him and who she is with him.
What ending suits them? What ending have they earned? Sharpe creates twists and turns that feel expected and revolutionary in the same thought.
A really outstanding read.

My thoughts: OK, so this starts off slow but it’s done well because you’re gathering all the information on why Lily kills. It kept me very intrigued. I loved the way the writing made us feel her emotions. It put me instantly on Lily’s side after feeling the pain she felt losing her girlfriend. That paired with the fact that I, myself, am overweight and the theme in this book is that people who hate/bully fat people might end up dead… I was all but cheering her on! Then Daniel shows up… that’s when it picks up and man I didn’t know where this was gonna go. Was he gonna figure her out? What happened to their love if he did?!
I can’t say much without spoiling but it didn’t go exactly the way I thought it would go or how I wanted it to go but the ending was what I wanted so I was ecstatic!!! My anxiety had a ball reading this & the tension had me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend!
Thank you @netgalley and Sienna for the advanced copy! Looking forward to reading more of your books!

Lily Lennox runs a successful catering business, but each summer for the past five years she closes up shop and heads to an exclusive health and wellness resort to work as a lifeguard, and every summer since, one person mysteriously ends up dying. Lily doesn't like toxic people, and her murderous ways might finally catch up with her.
I am really torn with this book. So let’s go through what I liked about it first. Lily is a smart serial killer. She scopes out people who she feels deserve to be murdered because they are ruining other's lives. Like the music producer who told his majorly famous client that she was "too fat" to be a superstar. I like how Lily started doing all of this for the sake of her late-girlfriend, Jessica, who we find out was deeply depressed and had body dysmorphia. I liked the dynamic between Lily and Daniel. I also really was shocked about the twist at the end.
Here are things I didn't like. Is there a lot fat shaming and body negativity going on in the world? Absolutely. Do I think it justifies murder? No. I think Lily had a little bit of a god complex when choosing her victims. After the music producer was killed, the famous singers career took a nose dive. I think she had good intentions, but it was to satisfy her pain she felt for what her late-girlfriend was going through and not necessarily what would help the ones involved. Her whole goal was to take down the wellness resort, to expose them for the abuse they shown some of their guest. I don't know, it just seemed like a big stretch to go on to murdering people.
Would I recommend this book? Maybe, I enjoyed it, but I think there are many parts others might not like.

It’s giving Dexter, but with a female serial k!ller who only enacts her justice once a year (oh and a little bit of romance sprinkled on top).
Our FMC, Lily, was so interesting and unpredictable. I also loved the will they/won’t they dynamic between her and our MMC, Daniel!
I kept needing to know what was going to happen next and couldn’t put this one down!
Thank you, Sourcebooks Landmark & NetGalley, for the ARC!
