Sienna Sharpe must be a tightrope walker because what is this line between thriller and romance that she executed so well. I love discovering new authors whose writing I vibe with and I was instantly hooked on Sienna Sharpe's writing style. I came into this book blind (except to know there's something about serial killers and a summer romance?) and rooting for a serial killer was the last thing I thought I'd be doing but hey, I had a great time. The story was interesting, writing excellent, the pacing just right and the execution (pun not intended) was clean as a whistle.

Summer may be almost over but if anyone wanted an unorthodox summer beach read, I'd be shoving this in their face.

Thank you #NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is confusing and the writing is very elusive. Like you can be secretive and mysterious without losing your audience. But the first half is so confusing that it almost lost me completely.

The fitness gurus and their show are just like that show the biggest loser.

Not a fan of the main character. I hate how authors make the main female characters so unstable.

This book is trying to be both a romance and thriller and I can see the White Lotus connection but it doesn’t hit the mark for me.

I will say, the last 30% of this book made up for the majority of it. The writing was better, the plot was more cohesive, and I started to enjoy the characters. I probably wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re looking for a book to be confusing ~70% of the way through.

I find it interesting the LGBTQ+ element isn’t mentioned here in the description, on Amazon nor listed in the themes on Goodreads. It seems it’s about woman who was in a previous relationship and now attracted to Daniel. So I’m assuming she is bisexual. But she doesn’t address her sexuality. Just ignores it just like all the summaries I have read of the book.

Aside from that, I got 20% into the book and had enough. Feels very juvenile, Seem like our main character at age 29 still doesn’t know herself.

People keep talking about how beautiful she is and she knows she has a killer body and ass and that she looks like Barbie. But the cover of the book doesn’t match that. Just a little thing.

DNF @ 20% 😢

Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review! All opinions and statements are my own. 📕

Have you ever read a book where you know what’s going to happen almost a quarter of the way in and you don’t have the heart to read the rest so you skip to the last chapter and/or epilogue where you find out your right about everything and reading the rest would just be a waste of your time? That’s how I feel about this book.

I read a positive review for it and was super excited when I got the approval for my request, but now I’m so bummed it wasn’t as good as it looks. 😭 I was bored and I didn’t like the main character at all. I wouldn’t care if she got caught or not. The writing was engaging, but the plot fell flat for me. It pains me to say this, but I didn’t like it at all. Im not going to not recommend it, though, because what I found boring, you might find intriguing. I hope you do. ☺️

As someone who never reads thrillers, this one was a really good introduction.

Lily is the FMC looking for justice for her girlfriend, who succumbed to toxic weight loss culture after going to a wellness retreat in the Caribbean. After losing the love of her life, Lily ,who is no stranger to murder feels its her morally obligation to rid the world of scum bags who believe in doing whatever it takes to be thin.

I really liked this book. It left no stone unturned. When I finished the book, I felt like I had all the answers. I feel like this book is way more than just a thriller, and you end up asking yourself if justice was served all around?

Thank you, Sourcebook Landmark, for the ARC

Loved this book! This wasn't your average RomCom, it was also an emotional thriller that will have you rooting for Lily the whole time. I did not see that ending coming! SO good!

A Twisty, Thrilling Ride with a Surprising Romantic Punch

A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe completely took me by surprise—in the best possible way. At first, it reads like a romance novel, setting you up with a rich backstory and emotional depth that makes you think you know where it’s headed… but then—bam! Plot twists, suspense, and edge-of-your-seat moments flip the script entirely.

Just when you’re fully immersed in the thriller elements, it loops back into a romantic storyline that feels both unexpected and totally satisfying. It’s exciting, fresh, and absolutely addictive.

I loved how original this book felt. I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t put it down—I read it in one sitting. It’s a delicious blend of genres that works so well.

Definitely worth the read!
Huge thanks to Sienna Sharpe, Sourcebooks Landmark, and NetGalley for the ARC!

A Killer Getaway was such a unique premise and I was eager to read it. Unfortunately, I found it to be slow and uninteresting. This one wasn't for me.

Killer of my mood.
I so wanted to love this. The plot was on point. Two things I love to read about: murder and romance. Unfortunately, the whole book felt so flat. There was no build-up. No excitement. I was not feeling it very early on but stuck with it because I loved the premise. But that’s the only thing I even remotely liked. A book that should have taken me 2 days went into 7. This just wasn’t it.

DNF @ 14%. Please note that my rating may not accurately reflect this book due to the DNF.

I think the premise of this book could be really interesting. Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t get into the writing style and found myself skimming chapters early on to see if I could get into it or not. I would’ve preferred a stronger hook at the beginning, and the prologue was a little too vague. At the place where I stopped, it’s still not clear what the book is going to be about and I only knew from looking around on Goodreads.

I hope this book finds the right audience!

At first, I was hooked and did not want to stop reading. This book had a great beginning that captured my attention. Towards the middle, it started to slow down but I still enjoyed reading. The story was stretched all the way to the end. One thing that I wished for was a plot twist or some element in it that would leave me speechless. It did have a happy ending though. Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book!

a cozy setting, a promising murder mystery, and a getaway gone wrong? Sign me up. Unfortunately, the execution fell flat for me. The pacing dragged, especially in the middle, and I found it hard to connect with the main characters. The mystery itself felt predictable, and some plot points just didn’t quite add up or felt overly convenient. I kept hoping for twists that never came, and while there were a few charming moments, they weren’t enough to pull me in. I really wanted to love this one, but it just missed the mark for me.

A Killer Getaway by Sienna Sharpe was such a fun, twisty read. The setting had the perfect mix of charm and suspense, and I loved trying to piece together the clues alongside the characters. Sharpe kept me guessing until the very end.

Bold, twisted, and impossible to put down, A Killer Getaway delivers a razor-sharp thrill ride through paradise with a protagonist you’ll love to question.

Lily Lennox leads a double life—by day, she is a successful entrepreneur; during the summer, she works as a lifeguard at the luxurious Riovan Wellness Resort in the Caribbean. What nobody knows: each summer, she secretly “cleanses” the resort by eliminating toxic guests. However, this season, a persistent—and handsome—journalist, Daniel Black, arrives, threatening her carefully orchestrated routine. As their attraction intensifies, Lily’s secret becomes increasingly precarious.

A Killer Getaway is a genre-blurring thriller—part mystery, part dark comedy, with a dash of enemies-to-lovers tropes. Featuring morally complex antiheroine, fast-paced plot, and a sunny Caribbean backdrop concealing deadly secrets, this novel mixes dark humor, intense suspense, and a clever critique of wellness culture. Ideal for readers who enjoy psychological suspense with vibrancy. Releases on August 12th!

A fun thriller with a little bit of romance. I enjoyed the flashbacks as a tool to provide insight to the narrators motives and backstory.

A great stand-alone thriller with a final resolution that is satisfying.

3.5 stars

I loved the idea of Lily returning to the island each summer not just to lifeguard, but to serve her own kind of justice. It’s dark, clever, and definitely gives morally grey heroine energy.

That said, I did struggle with this one. There’s a lot of inner monologue, and it really slowed things down for me. I found myself wishing we got to the action a little faster. The MMC, Daniel doesn’t show up until about 25% into the book, and their romance felt a little too insta-love for my taste. I wanted more tension and build up between them. Even though I wasn’t fully invested, the plot did keep me curious enough to see where it was going.

Female serial killer.. yes please! This book was such a wild ride. I started the book with one opinion of Lily and finished with a completely different perspective. I know that murder is wrong but she almost makes you feel like hers are justified. And then there’s Daniel! I loved him so much! This was a quick and twisty mystery/thriller that I read in one sitting. Definitely pick this one up!

This one was SO interesting, but also very misgenred and mismarketed. This led me to loathe a lot of it. So please read this review before reading.

This is not a thriller. It’s not even a mystery. It purely fiction with murder. The story follows Lily who has returned to the a wellness resort every year for 5 years. She kills a new person she deems as “filth” every year. She’s never been caught. In year 5, she has someone watching her. Someone she falls in love with. There is a lot of backstory to Lily and what motivates her.

This story started in the wrong place. It should have started with Jessica. I make this bold claim because much of the story is redundant, we hear about Jessica many times before we finally get the story in the last 10% of the book. The last 20% was honestly the best. I enjoyed that more than the beginning 80%. And that’s where rating this has me torn. I went into reading with expectations that were not met because of the marketing and summary of the book.

Rating: somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. Honestly I don’t know.

Thank you so much NetGalley for allowing me to get a copy of this arc. The first thing that caught my attention about this book is a female serial killer!! Also perfect thriller vibes for the summertime. The cover is absolutely beautiful and that’s what caught my eye in the first place. I never read a synopsis. So I went into his book completely blind. So that being said, I didn’t know the tone of the book and what I was going into.

I found Lily‘s character to be a little annoying until I got into the depth of her story. Lily visit this resort every year as a lifeguard and people wonder why she keeps coming back… the resort that she works at is a superficial wellness resort. Where their perspective of health means do anything you can to make these people thin . It’s all about the numbers.

Daniel is a journalist who wants to know who what where when and why it is asking all the correct questions and have you on the edge of your seat

I read this book a 3 1/2 stars. I enjoy the writing from this author and the storyline you don’t get a lot of female killers and I really enjoyed that. The ending was a little disappointing, so that’s why I didn’t get a four star.
