What a great idea to always find the awesome of the day. Too many times, we focus on the negative. Usually there is always something, even though it may be small, that is awesome. Focusing on positive things can make a huge difference for your mental health. The illustrations were excellent also. Thank you to Two Lions and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Andrew has been having a hard time finding the good in life, he’s been having some awful days.

The illustration was so beautiful. I love the way this story can reach every age, even as an adult, such a great reminder to look for the good in everything. We get so caught up in what went wrong that sometimes we forgot what went right. I thought it was even cooler that it showed you can sometimes still have awful days, sometimes you just won’t be able to find that positive. But maybe the positive thing in that day is that you’ll have the opportunity to find the positive in another day to come.

Thank you NetGalley & Ellen Javernick for giving the opportunity to read this story.

Andrew tends to focus on negative things that happen. That's up until his sister recommends that he try to think of one good thing that happens each day. It's a story of trying to think of the positive to change your mood. The illustrations are very cute and the examples given are realistic. This would be a good book for middle elementary aged kiddos.

Thanks to Two Lions and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.

Some days are just so awful its hard to find anything good in them. Andrew has been having this issue and can always think of the awful in his days. So his family tells him to start finding the awesome things in his day.

Would definitely recommend this book. Absolutely love the message and the illustrations!

Awesome of the Day is a heartwarming picture book that encourages young readers to find the positive in every day. When Andrew faces a series of challenges, his big sister challenges him to look for something “awesome” each day. Through this journey, Andrew learns to shift his focus from the negative to the positive, discovering joy in everyday moments. The engaging illustrations by Bhagya Madanasinghe complement the uplifting message, making it a perfect read for children aged 4–7. This book is a great reminder for all ages, young and old, to see the good in every day.

Anytime someone asks him "How was your day?" Andrew has only awful things to say... Getting a bad grade, falling of his bike, losing time to play. One night his sister challenges him to find at least one awesome thing that happens each day. So he does : his team scores a goal, he meets a new puppy. But then one day - again - he doesn't find the "awesome", it goes bad. But by now Andrew learned that it was okay, and that being with his family was awesome.
I quite liked when the core message of the story was that in the end awful days exist. You can still feel bad. Bad days can happen, but it's okay, because you will find awesome in another coming day.

Andrew had only awful things to report each day at supper until his sister challenged him to find at least one AWESOME thing that happened each day. So he did and we got to have some ideas as to how WE can do the same by looking for the good things that happen to us and not just the things that are so frustrating. Good advice for everyone!
The illustrations by Bhagya Madanasinghe are delightful, easy to recognize, and FUN using bright colors. Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age, including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library!

Andrew is having a few bad days which he only focus’ on the negative. With the help of his sister he works on focusing on the positive things of the day. This is a wonderful story about looking for the good not the bad. The illustrations are cute and will hold attention.

This was a lovely book — both in words and in pictures — about how simple it is to steer our brains toward the beautiful among the bad. Our brains have no problem remembering the awful things that happen to us… after all it’s the way we survive the world! But this book is such a GREAT way to show our kids how to train our brains to remember the good.

“What was your awesome of the day?” will be added to our family’s vernacular after reading this together. It’s something we can talk about at dinner every night.

And how about that last page?! That made me smile so huge and shed a few tears at that! “He was LOOKING at his awesome of the day.” 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

What a great book and concept! Andrew is having a really bad week until his sister helps him find something good in his day. Then she dares him to find his awesome of the day. It's hard at first but gets easier with time. A wonderful picture book.

The Awesome of the Day really surprised me in the best way possible. It’s one of those stories that sneaks up on you and makes you smile without you even realizing it. The book follows Andrew, a kid who feels like every day is filled with “awful” things—until his sister challenges him to find something “awesome” in each day. It’s such a simple concept, but it works so well, and by the end, I found myself thinking about how I could find the awesome in my own day-to-day life.

What I really love about this book is how relatable it is. We all have those days where nothing seems to go right, and it’s easy to get stuck in that negative mindset. But this book gently encourages kids (and adults) to shift their perspective, even if it’s just by looking for the little things that bring joy. It’s all about seeing the good, and I think that’s a message we could all use more of.

The illustrations are adorable and capture the playful tone of the story perfectly. They bring the characters to life and make it even more enjoyable to read. The colors are bright and cheerful, and they really enhance the overall feel of the book.

I do wish there had been a little more focus on how Andrew shares his newfound “awesome” discoveries with others. It would’ve been nice to see how positivity can spread when you start looking for the good around you. But honestly, that’s just a small detail in an otherwise heartwarming story.

In the end, this is a book I’d definitely recommend. It’s perfect for young readers who need a little encouragement to see the bright side of things, and it’s a great pick for storytime, too. I think it would resonate with kids ages 4–8, but honestly, it’s a great read for anyone who needs a reminder to find the awesome in their own day.

This is a super sweet book. I love that his sister basically told him to stop sweating the small stuff. This book has a wonderful lesson and any parent would be happy to read this to their child. Plus the artwork is beautiful as well.

Andrew is similar to so many young children his age-- they expect their day to be filled with sunshine and happiness and joy so when bad things happen, they become completely upset. children are the wonderful creators of vivid imaginations, and they know exactly how their days are supposed to unfold. If they lose time at recess without being guilty of doing anything wrong, or they do poorly on a science test, or if they have to spend a day with a boring substitute teacher, they simply know that their day was not a pleasant one. However, Andrew happens to be a valuable member of a loving and simply wonderful family-- a family who teaches him that even when things happen that seem disappointing, an entire day can still be turned around in order for good to come of it. As Andrew works diligently to find the good (and even the AWESOME!) in every day, he quickly learns that finding the positive is easier than he originally believed. Perhaps when we focus on the negative it overshadows the positive-- a concept which Andrew discovers quickly. Before long, Andrew in identifying and sharing all of the wonderful, AWESOME, incidents that he happened to find within the course of his days.

Awesome of the Day is a brilliantly illustrated children's picture book that instills important lessons and key values such as focusing on the positives and treasuring ordinary concepts such as friendship, family togetherness, excelling in school, and team dynamics in after school activities.

I read Awesome of the Day with my niece, and we both enjoyed its uplifting message! This story beautifully teaches kids that while some days may be tough, they can still find something awesome in each one. The artwork was engaging, the lesson was relatable, and the length was just right for young readers. A great read with an encouraging perspective!

Thanks, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this!

This is a good book to help kids focus on the AWESOME parts of their days instead of the AWFUL parts of their days. Even when everything seems AWFUL, there can be some AWESOME in it.

This children’s book is an excellent read for kiddos who may be struggling to see the brighter side of life. This book encourages readers to not just look at all the things that went wrong during the day, but to look for the awesome things that are mixed in. I appreciated that they didn’t sugar coat that awful things will still happen- but that they don’t have to be our soul focus. There was an emphasis on family support as well. I loved the colorful illustrations and that people of all skin tones were represented.. As the mama to a young pessimist, I am thankful for books, such as this that help encourage him to look to the bright side.

‘Awesome of the Day’ is an adorable yet informative children’s book. Andrew has a habit for only noticing the not-so-fun aspects of life — bad grades at school, skinned knees, and challenges with his friends. With a little help, he is introduced to a different way of thinking. What would happen if he acknowledged the positive too? This book is a great introduction to mindfulness for children and helps them recognize that bad doesn’t outweigh the good. Really positive message throughout. In addition to the story, the illustrations were fantastic — my nephew and I enjoyed this book very much!

Andrew was having an awful day-after day-after day. Then his sister challenged him to find at least one awesome thing that happened to him each day. Slowly, he starts seeing more awesome things instead of awful things. Then a truly awful day happened to Andrew, but Andrew realized that his family was the most awesome thing of all.

Great message! I think this will encourage kids to start seeing the good in their day. I think even grown-ups could use this message too! I can’t wait to share this one with my first graders!
