This was a good mystery with lots of twists and it kept me guessing throughout the story. The ending was exciting and fit the story. Fun read.

Trust is always an issue. Savannah has been living a life where she just sorta exists. Then she is called to the beside of a dying man and he tells her he has been murdered. Since she was previously a reporter, this catches her interest. Still, she is just going to ask a few questions. Things happen quickly and events happen that pull her into the drama quicker than she ever expected.
She doesn't believe what the 'evidence' suggests about her best friend. She unintentionally took on a renter, Clive, who intrigues her. There is something more to him but she isn't sure what is going on with a lot in her life. There are more questions than answers and the author takes you for a ride where people aren't who they say they are. Some are hiding for good reasons and others for personal gain. It is difficult to know who to trust.
It was a 4/5 for me. I enjoyed it and really look forward to more from this author.

Romantic Christian suspense about the hidden agendas and guilt keeping us frozen.

Savannah Harris is living her "third life", as she calls it. The first one was a life of a single investigative journalist, full of adventures and fights for justice. The second one was a life of a pastor's wife in a small city, trying to cope with all the watching eyes and expectations of how a reverend's wifey should behave. The third one is a life of a woman who lost her husband and baby daughter because of her fight for justice - the life of guilt, solitary and boring small jobs.
But then things start to happen - the death of an old Mexican migrant worker, the arrival of an unexpected tenant, the flattened coins...and the attempted suicide of her best friend. And the last issue is the trigger for Savannah to move - as Marti is the last person to try to kill herself.
But everybody seems to have an hidden agenda or two under their sleeves...

I liked this suspense a lot. The mystery parts might be naive a bit, but they also feels very "normal" - I mean these things might happen to a common fellow, the said fellow might notice small inconsistencies and follow the described clues.
The characters also feel quite "next door" - they are complex, they make mistakes, they are not what they seem to be and they might be frozen to live fully lived life because of their issues. I especially liked the part of how hard it might be to life under the expectations of how should the nice wife behave - and how untrue this expectations might be.
Nice read enlarged with a dose of realistically feeling doubts and freeing thoughts.
