Thanks to NetGalley for an advance proof copy.

I like this book a lot. I can see parents reading it with their kids as the children try to piece the clues together in order to solve the mystery. There's a bit of fun references for the parents as well, which is always good. You never want to read a book to your child and be bored in the process.

The illustrations are very cute and I love the way the expressions are conveyed.

Overall, an easy five stars.

Are you students done with Dog Man? Put this in their hands! They will love this humorous mystery in graphic format! Marlowe and Purrlock are on the case to find out who stole all the grilled cheese sandwiches at the annual Grilled Cheese Festival! Their path leads them to a field of suspects which is hard to narrow down because, "who doesn't love a cheese sandwich!"

The Grilled Cheese Caper is the first graphic novel in the Paw and Order series by Jason Platt. Purrlock and Marlowe (awwww) are trying to figure out who stole all the grilled cheese sandwiches from the annual Grilled Cheese Festival! Although Purrlock has blinders on and accuses Meowiearty without any evidence I did like the fact that it paused the story (at chapter 7) to let you have a second chance to go back and review the interviews. This was so well done, as some kids just read through the whole story without stopping, and having the main character break the 4th wall to ask you the reader to go back and review, is a great motivator.

My son enjoyed this book and was laughing a lot, mainly due to Purrlock and his antics, but I appreciated how Marlowe did not dismiss him, but instead just directed him back to the task at hand.

Also visually this book didn’t have overly complex backgrounds, and instead focused on the characters and the stories, which would be beneficial for someone starting out with graphic novels to not get distracted.

Highly enjoyed this book!!

This is a cute little mystery "tail" of the famous detectives, Purrlock and Marlowe - a cat and dog duo who solve cases and face off with the enigmatic "Meowiarty." Yep, pun game is on.

In this inaugural episode, the duo need to determine which of their suspects had motive, opportunity, and wherewithal to steal a massive stack of grilled cheese sandwiches, ruining the festival.

Pretty simple, straight-forward case that invites young readers into the conversation (think Blues Clues) to solve it themselves. Nice illustrations as expected from a Papercutz release and this should appeal to young sleuths maybe like K-3rd Grade?

My 6 year old did not want to put this super fun book down and immediately asked for the "next one.". She's a voracious reader and doesn't usually have a lot of commentary about books but she had to read it a second time out loud to her little sister who also live this cartoon mystery.
We had grilled cheese and tomato soup the next night for dinner!

A wonderful and engaging story that is a solveable puzzle if you follow along and read the clues for yourself. Every kid will need to read this book as soon as its out. So fun!

For fans of Great Puptective or reading mysteries, this is a must!

Who stole all the grilled cheese sandwiches? Never fear, Purrlock and Marlowe are on the case! Marlowe looks for clues and investigates while Purrlock keeps insisting the culprit is someone he already knows to be an evil genius. It's fun to watch the friends work together to solve the mystery in this easy-to-read little chapter book with cute pictures. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

I received an electronic ARC from Papercutz through NetGalley.
Lower to mid elementary level readers will love these two friends. Purrlock and Marlowe are detectives and need to solve the case of the disappearing grilled cheeses. Readers will appreciate the humor and ridiculousness that ensues as they interview suspects and victims. They can make guesses along with the detectives and see if they were correct at the final reveal. The illustrations capture the fun and adventure and pull readers in to figure out who done it.

Purrlock and Marlowe are not only best friends, they are partners in the Paw & Order Private Detective Agency.

One day while Marlowe catches up on the news, Purrlock is raiding the fridge. Unfortunately it is empty. "Aha!" exclaims Purrlock. Somebody has stolen all of the food he brought the day before. The first and only culprit that springs to his mind is his nemesis - Meowiearty.

According to Purrlock, Meowiearty is a ruthless and cunning villain, and evil genius. Only he can be responsible. Marlowe however, is the clear headed thinker on the team, and he suggests a trip to a Grilled Cheese Festival instead.

Purrlock's desire to arrest Meowiearty is quickly forgotten as his stomach rumbles even louder on the way to a cheese feast.

But alas! All of the grilled cheese sandwiches Purrlock had set his heart (and stomach) on have been snatched right off the shelves!

The Paw & Order Detective Agency get to work after determining who could have committed such a terrible crime. First - who had a motive to steal the cheese delicacies, and were any clues left behind?

The first in this colourful and funny graphic novel mystery series, Paw & Order - The Grilled Cheese Caper is perfect for budding investigators. The characters are all animals, and all have their funny quirks. But the stars of the novel are definitely Purrlock & Marlowe, names taken from famous literary detectives.

The baseless rivalry between Purrlock and Meowiearty is also funny, with Marlowe trying to get Purrlock to change his view of his so-called nemesis.

The reader is encouraged by patient and clear thinking Marlowe, to go over the clues they have discovered in their investigation to determine who the real thief is - as Purrlock still insists on Meowiearty's involvement. The truth is revealed and with Purrlock's hidden skills from his past, and Marlowe's quick thinking, the case is solved.

At the end of the novel, there is a note from the author about his character's and where they came from, along with the history of detective stories. There is also a promise of more stories in this funny series!

This is very fun. It's a nice story for older kids who want something simple and gentle. Little kids can get into it too. Dog stories are always popular at our library.

I love that it's a twist on a detective story with clues the reader can follow. I also appreciate the traditional kind of nonsense that comes with the comic format, with exclamations about cheese.

Thank you for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.

Oh this was fun! Similar to Dav Pilkey but with a gentler humor. I will definitely be adding this to my home library as well as recommending for our school library.

Simple story. Great book for a younger audience with limited words, lots of imagery and a simple and easy to follow along with story line. Love the main characters and the the detective side of things. The obvious clues.
