Grayson doesn’t do love. A former military man turned emotionally guarded, he was betrayed by the two people he trusted most: his wife and his best friend, now a mafia hitman. Grayson keeps things simple: no attachments, no kisses, just physical release with no strings.

Maddie believes in fairy tales. She’s searching for her Prince Charming: someone kind, dependable, and safe. Instead, she finds Grayson: dangerous, brooding, and all wrong for her or so she thinks.

But sometimes, love detonates when you least expect it.

Detonate follows Maddie and Grayson from their explosive first kiss to a journey neither of them saw coming. Can Grayson be everything Maddie never knew she always needed?

Y’all I just realized I go absolutely feral for a mafia man, and Grayson? He is assassin -level dangerous and totally addictive. This book was spicy—really spicy—and I read it in 24 hours.

It’s a dark romance with all the tropes I love:
• Grumpy x Sunshine
• Touch her and die
• Sassy, confident FMC who doesn’t back down

The chemistry between the characters was intense, the tension was perfectly paced, and underneath all the danger and heat was a genuinely great love story. I was hooked from start to finish and I’m already planning to read the next one.

This is definitely a dark romance, so check the trigger warnings first. But if you’re into protective, broody mafia men and strong heroines, this is a must-read. I loved it.

From the moment Detonate began, I was hooked—completely immersed in Maddie and Grayson’s storm of a connection. Their dynamic crackled with unresolved tension, a slow-burn kind of electricity that never lets up. If you’re into emotionally charged love stories with a side of chaos, this one delivers.

Grayson's past is finally revealed and it bring so much clarity to his behavior. His ex-wife did a number on him and he's built up a wall of bricks due to the serious emotional damage she has done. Maddie kicks *ss in this book and the banter and foreplay between the two is a chef's kiss. Well done Luna Mason!

Beyond the romance, the side plots keep the pace brisk and the suspense high. Just when you think you’ve figured things out, a curveball hits—and suddenly, you're flipping pages faster than ever. That ending? Let’s just say it sets the stage for the next book in the best way possible.

I loved Distance (Keller & Sienna), so I was so excited to read Detonate. I knew I was going to eat up Grayson and Maddie's story.

Grayson was a Marine, until an accident killed his best friend. While his friend is dying, he tells Grayson about a betrayal. Now Grayson is a mafia hitman with one thing on his mind. Maddie. After that kiss, he can't forget about her.

Maddie is tired of being a disappointment to her family. All she wants is love, and she wants it with the Grayson. Even if he is a monster.

I loved how these two went back and fourth with each other. Always making each other jealous. When Grayson finally gives in, the spice gets so good! I love that man. I also really enjoyed Maddie's character. The way she handled Grayson's ex wife!!!

I loved when the story picked up toward the end with the action. During the scene at the hospital it got so tense. I was really happy with how it played out. I can't wait to read what happens with Luca and Rosa!

Huge thanks to Luna Mason and Hambright PR for the copy of this book!

Whoever recommended me this book, I will gladly pay for a full tank of fuel for you for sincerest gratitude.

I LOVED this book! If I could put a leash on a book and walk it around like my own little pet. But like how Grayson could with me, if you know what I’m saying 😂

This is a dark, very spicy, mafia romance with heaps of great banter and the chemistry between 2, you could cut the tension with a no 2 pencil.

We got a lot of backstory behind Grayson character and you get to understand why he is the way he is and his reasons for pushing Maddie way even though he wants her 🥵

The subplot was interesting, this book will keep you on your toes and overall a silly, fun, happy time ❤️

I love anything Luna writes, and this book was so much fun to get into! There were so many good moments in this book that had me blushing, giggling, and just having the time of my life reading this story.

Love their chemistry and their story so much!

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC!

I did not read book #1 in the series, and based on reviews, I will definitely be checking it out! I did enjoy this book, and I felt like it was juuust dark enough! I also liked that there were additional subplots beyond just their romance - especially the relationship with Maddie's mom and both the support she received from grayson throughout + her own growth in sticking up for herself. I really liked the found family & think I will really like reading Sienna + Keller's story, so I am looking forward to reading book 1!

Sunshine to the darkness.

Whoa talk about I don’t like you, I hate you but deep down I have feelings for you. It’s about time Maddie and Grayson admits they truly were two peas in a pod. It was heartbreaking to see both characters have different traumatic experiences, not sure which was worse than the other. But one thing is for sure Grayson will paid the world red to make sure nothing happens to Maddie. Talk about fairy tale.

I wish there was an epilogue on post pregnancy but I will assume that will come in the next book. Overall I thought the story of the characters was good but we were always around the same scenes not to say it’s a bad thing. I’m very curious on the other books and explore their characters.

Grayson and Maddie have enough heat to keep the pages burning! The question isn’t will they/won’t they, it is when will they! I love how Luna gave us glimpses into their backgrounds. These glimpses helped me understand why they are the way they are! When the heat finally explodes, there is a twist I didn’t see coming! I was glued to the pages…needing to know how it ended. I love how Luna also tied in the third book toward the end! Now I have to patiently wait to see what happens next!

I fear that Luna Mason has become my new favorite author. I am not one for the pregnancy trope and somehow she has made me love it in this book. I am in LOVE with the MMC and I love how spunky and spitfire the FMC is. I just loved this book so much. Dark Mafia Romance is literally one of my favorite genres and I ate this up within a day. With this being a dark romance, there are some trigger warnings to check those out.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the eARC.

Another great one. This time Maddie is losing herself to the perfect man for her. When she keeps interacting with Grayson, she quickly learns that there is a fine line between hate and love. Well, lust anyway. She can't get Grayson out of her mind, and it seems that he feels the same.

They fight for as long as they can, but when their lives are threatened, they both decide they can't possibly do without each other. Watching them fall and fight for what they want was so great.

I love a dark romance book where the man is OBSESSED with her and this one didn’t disappoint! I enjoyed seeing them go from insulting each other to doing anything to protect each other.

It was such a face paced book with lots of action and spice! They did get together a bit quickly for my liking but the chemistry between them was so good.

I really wanted to love this. Dark romance. Mafia? Sign me up!! But it fell really flat. I didn't really jive with the writing style. It felt really repetitive (we crash into eachother, slamming our mouths together etc). However. I really loved that this story is so interwoven with the previous story. It is s interconnected stand alone, and while it helps to have read the first book, I wasn't too thrown off picking this up

Perfect for you if you like your MMC obsessed with his woman to the point of distraction and If you like your FMC a lil fighty.

This was so good. I loved Grayson! He fell and he fell hard. He was completely obsessed with Maddie, and she with him. Their flirty fighting was everything, and seeing them finally give in to their feelings was so satisfying. Grayson would absolutely kill for her, and I was living for it.

"You aren't my villain. You are my everything. I love your darkness. But I also love your light. I love every single part of you."

I LOVE Luna Mason’s books, they always get me! An age gap, enemies to lovers, mafia romance? Yes please! Luna always hits the mark with her books, absolute perfection!

We had a glimpse of Grayson and Maddie in book one, one kiss and then Grayson avoided her. He knows he should stay away, but he becomes obsessed after that kiss, making it impossible to stay away from Maddie. Maddie is feisty and sassy, eventually making Grayson cave, once he does it’s not enough, he wants to make Maddie his.

This series has been amazing so far, perfect amount of romance, banter, spice and intensity. I can’t wait to keep reading this series!

Thank you Luna, Kensington and NetGalley for the ARC!

I loved the Was Maddie and Grayson fight the attraction and magnetic pull they have towards each other. It's hysterical the way they bicker. The best part is they don't stop even when they finally give in and fall for each other they still bicker like their lives depend on it. It is their form of foreplay. They have great chemistry and give us some great spice.

I loved that Maddi was super sweet but full of fire. She may have been looking for Mr. Perfect for mom, but she finally gives into the dark and embraces Grayson's. She accepted Grayson's life and helped him through it. The scene of Her standing up to Grayson's ex was perfect. could have loved it more.

Gayson is just a damaged man who finally finds a woman who sees him, and he becomes obsessed. I loved watching him fall for Maddie. He was only soft for her.

It was an entertaining read for sure.

I thought I would really like this book but it just wasnt for me. It was too repetive and lacked a plot and build up. I think there was just too many different tropes going at once.

Grayson is my new boyfriend. Having a tough, grumpy man fall to his knees in love is my favorite trope. Spice was spicing. I didn't care for Maddie at first, but as she developed and learned to stand up for herself, she grew on me to a point. Not to mention, she got Grayson, the man who swore off kissing and dating to go into caveman mode. When he says, touch her, you d!£, he means it.

If you like, mafia, exmilitary with trust issue men, this is your book. I'm ready to see what happens with Luca. 🔥

“It turns out I had it all wrong. I was never a princess in need of a prince to whisk me away. I’ve been reading the wrong books. It wasn’t a fairytale I was after, a dark romance is where it’s at.”

This is a dark, very spicy, mafia romance with just the right amount of suspense. I really loved this one! The chemistry and banter between the 2 main characters was so good.
He’s an ex military, boxing trainer turned mafia hit man, she’s a make up artist looking for her prince charming. Greyson Ward is 🥵the filth that comes out of his mouth! Go pick this one up! It releases May 27th!

*3.5 stars*

Detonate by Luna Mason is a dark mafia romance that is full of sinful passion, action and suspense. Greyson has left his heart in the battle field seven years ago when he lost his best friend and came to know about his wife's betrayal on the same day. Now he is the part of mafia and delivers merciless punishments to the enemies. Maddie is creating big cracks in his armour but he doesn't want to drag her into his hell. It might not be his decision ultimately.

Maddie is a fierce character and it's heartbreaking to see her letting her mother's judgement clouding her light. Greyson warned her that he is not the man for her and he did his best to stay away from her but they have this irresistible pull and undeniable chemistry. And just being in Greyson’s orbit put her in danger. So he gives in after lots of push and pull. The plot gets all turbulent after it in all sense. Greyson and Maddie fighting with their feels. The mafia war. The secrets and twists. Until they find their HEA.

I think I couldn't connect with the characters. They had their individual depth and complexity but their emotional connection didn't seem strong. Many times I got stuck in the cycle of sex, drama and murders. A lot happened towards the end. It's worth a read if you like dark romance.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
