Grayson & Maddie

My first read by Luna and I loved it. I couldn’t put it down it was too good.
Grayson is an ex military who finds out on a mission that goes bad that his childhood best friend who’s been shot has been sleeping with his wife. What does he do he goes home leaves his wife and Chicago and goes to New York. Now he’s a bad ass mafia and also runs a boxing ring which he trains young men. He hasn’t kissed a woman in 7 years until one day Maddie goes and jumps on him after being terrified he was hurt and kisses him.
Maddie a strong willed makeup artist has been trying to find Mr right. But she’s just comes up with duds, she can’t stop thinking about the kiss that she gave Grayson a year ago.
Grayson swore off ever being in a relationship and that’s all Maddie can think about. These two keep arguing trying to rile the other up constantly. But that sexual tension is off the charts and together it’s a roaring fire.
This book was so good mafia aesthetic with two people who can’t stand each other. But he’s willing to do anything to keep her safe. I need to read Distance and Devoted next because just wow if this book had me in a chokehold I know they will too.

This was my first Luna Mason book, although she's been on my TBR for a while. Some parts felt a bit rushed, but overall it was a good read!

I...unfortunately did not love this book and I wanted to so bad.

I think it would have started off strong if chapter one wasn't "I can't give you what you want" and then chapter two was them sleeping together and "meant to be". If the relationship has more depth I usually can get past the insta love but this one just didn't do it for me.

There was too much back and forth between the two characters, I wasn't a huge fan of the dialogue between them, and too many tropes trying to get squeezed into the story.

I normally love mafia, touch her and 💀 stories and I wish I loved this one to but I think I would have liked it more if it was a little more plot driven.

She means everything to him. The start of their journey is bumpy, but when they get all in, it’s a race against time for the spice and keeping her protected. They are all hot and bothered, and I could feel the heat. I liked some of the twists at the later stage, and Grayson was great. Maddie is strong, and sometimes she is a bundle of nerves with years of insecurities, but together they overcome every obstacle. It was a good, relaxed read.

It’s a 3.5⭐️ for me.

Quick review going off pure vibes here, decided to do an immersive read. And it did not disappoint!

Grayson was CHEFS kiss, literally Maddie is the luckiest FMC ever. He loved her voracious attitude from the very beginning (when she threatened to 🔪 him) lolol

Loved that they met their match in each other, and the fact he hadn’t kissed someone in years until her is HAWT. 🔥🔥🔥 it’s one of my fav micro tropes. Ugh so good. Listen along with the audiobook for extra enjoyment 😉

Detonate by Luna Mason is unhinged, over the top, and bingeable when the mood strikes.

I devoured the first fifty percent of the book in about 3 hours, could not put it down. The rest I read in spurts when the mood hit me.

Grayson is a retired marine, pro boxing trainer, and also a hitman for the mafia. Did I say unhinged yet?

Maddie is a feisty makeup artist looking for that fairytale ending she was sold and beat over the head with her entire life. Also, her entire personality is such a damn vibe. Her mom is also the literal worst. FR.

I LOVE an unhinged man who will literally unalive for his woman(in books). Grayson is that man. No seriously 👀

I love that once it starts between them and they give in, the action literally does not stop. I wished there was more when I finished it, only to realize that there are more books! Luca, I'm coming for you 💋

As a mood reader, this scratched the itch for dark mafia romance and if you love unhinged and over the top(in the very best way) stories, I highly recommend you add this to your TBR!

This couple were fire. I love the depth of each of the characters and the journey this author took me on. They had great sexual chemistry. The mafia vibes were on point. It’s been a minute since I’ve read one that had me hooked. This is the 2nd book in the series and it was just a great as the first. The banter, the steam, the action made for an unputdownable story.

I’m not gonna lie, when the book first started I was utterly confused. I got on track though and thoroughly enjoyed the book! Grayson and Maddie are both terribly terribly stubborn so it was just refreshing when they both finally gave in to eachother. They are like the couple everyone knows that you just wanna smack for acting so oblivious about their feelings!

I quickly got sucked into this exciting mafia world and its characters. Maddie and Grayson have hate to love vibes where they aren't true enemies but both are fighting their obvious attraction to the other. once they do give in, we get plenty of steamy scenes that show these two have all the chemistry needed. Maddie is fierce while lovable and Grayson is deadly but vulnerable. Both have moments of angst where they find areas of growth and is a great opportunity to showcase these two out of the bedroom for good and bad. This story had danger and a surprise twist I didnt expect in the third act. I would definitely read more from this series

I absolutely LOVED Maddie and Grayson's story. I love a broken MMC and Grayson was GIVING. He was down bad for Maddie and we love to see it! He is morally grey in the best way but has the biggest heart too.

This book is all the banter, angst and tension you need followed by ALL THE SPICE!

You absolutely fall in love with all the side characters- which is probably one of my favorite aspects of found family books- you can't help but love everyone!

Grayson is super rough around the edges and gruff. Maddie is sweet. The two list after each other before they eventually and gradually get to know each other better and give in to desire.

This felt more lust driven to me (vs. love) so I’m not sure how genuine or long-lasting the couple’s connection felt to me. It’s a wild ride for sure though, so check it out if you’re looking for:

If you love mafia romance then this is the book for you! This is the second book in the series and is Grayson and Maddie's story. At the end of the previous book they finally kissed. This book starts off with them kind of avoiding each other and not acknowledging what happened between them. They both have their own issues to work through but when they get together it is spicy 🔥 I loved their story and can't wait to read Luca's story next!

This book was repetitive and the best written. I did not like this book. Very boring. I don’t have anything else to say

Detonate is book 2 in the Behind the Mask Series. Each book is an interconnected standalone that can be read in any order. You will see characters from the previous books so if you don't like spoilers, I suggest reading this series in order.

Grayson and Maddie were fun to get to know. Grayson and his rough exterior and Maddie...well she was one tough cookie and really gave attitude to Grayson as much as he gave her. Their romance was hot and the spicy scenes were spicing. I loved that Grayson was a flawed character. I seem to love those kinds of characters the most. I enjoy watching them overcome their insecurities or trauma. That was no different here. Grayson is strong and I loved seeing how he fell in love. There were some inconsistencies with this story but I chose to focus on the characters and their romance. If you love a dark mafia read...this is your book and series to enjoy.

situation between Maddie & Grayson. I enjoyed the mafia side of the plot. Mafia romances have my heart and I am so happy to have this one on my shelf as a trophy! I loved the "softer" side of Grayson and how we see why he was treating Maddie like that and pushing her away. I loved Maddie as a fmc very easy to like and relate to personally. Overall, a nice little smutty romance to read when you want something fast paced!

The writing was so bad, I went through with it but never again. It wasn't for me. But I imagine if a reader likes just vibes, it works well.

Great Mafia dark romance.. Characters and plot very intriguing and well written. Totally loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author

Beneath the Mask - Book Two

I am enjoying this series. I love a good mafia world but this one was a bit all over the place. I thought the characters had good chemistry, the spice was super hot - then there was all of a sudden plot at like 75%. I felt like the pacing wasnt the best.

Luna Mason’s Detonate is an extremely spicy romance that definitely keeps the heat turned all the way up. The chemistry between the characters is electric, and the passion leaps off the page, making it a thrilling read for fans of intense romantic tension.

However, I found myself wishing the plot had been a bit deeper. While the story moves at a fast and fiery pace, a more layered narrative would have enriched the overall experience. Additionally, I would have appreciated a slower burn in the romance to build more anticipation and emotional connection before the sparks flew.

That said, Detonate delivers on excitement and steamy moments, making it a satisfying read for those who enjoy bold, passionate romances. I’m looking forward to seeing how Luna Mason develops her storytelling in future works!

Mafia softie.
Greyson is mister morally grey, tough guy who kills people. But he’s also super soft when it comes to Maddie. If you want a morally grey golden retriever this maybe your man. Maddie has a snarkiness to her that holds up well with Greyson’s toughness. It’s fast-paced, which made the pages fly by. There’s quite a bit of spice and a dab of mafia craziness.

Their relationship has great angst and teasing banter in the beginning. I would have liked to have it prolonged. The relationship began too quickly. Once it did begin, it was mainly spice. There were moments that felt like they were supposed to be deep and meaningful but fell short. It gave more love bombing because their connection was mainly physical.
