Thank you to Storm Publishing via Netgalley for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Special Agent Emily Ray is part of the CARD division of the FBI which involves finding missing children. She goes back to her hometown and neighborhood for a case that involves a kidnapping of a young girl from a park while with her Nanny. This case becomes eerily familiar when it starts to have clues that point her to her own abduction 20 yrs ago. She had been missing for 8 years when her abductor let her go and committed suicide. Now she must figure out if this little girls case is a copycat or is her secrets coming back to haunt her?
I loved this book, it gave me Criminal Minds vibes without the focus on a full team. I like book series like these as palate cleansers in between larger books they are fun to read, satisfying, and make you want to know more about the characters and what is next for them. Emily’s character development was great I liked her from the beginning and the bombshell I never guessed. I am excited to see where her character heads next. I would have liked to know more of what happened to Josie and the abduction side maybe from the villain perspective just to get more of his POV and background of why he did it. I also loved that it had a small amount of spice in it, just one small scene. Overall I really liked this book and cannot wait for book 2.
If you love criminal procedural thrillers or series then this is the book for you.

3.5- this was a good psych thriller! It was suspenseful and kept me engaged- I would’ve liked more depth to the story. It felt very surface level and could’ve been something really gripping if it had dove deeper into the complex trauma of the FMC and the choices that led to her story. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this ARC

What a deeply moving and suspenseful story, and every parent's nightmare. It's a police procedural about an FBI agent who is in charge of a child abduction response team.
As a child she was also kidnapped. Just seven years old and was held captive for 8 long years. Despite her traumatic childhood, she is now married with daughters of her own, and devotes her time trying to save other abducted kids.
In this twisty thriller, a new case with glaring similarities to her own kidnapping may have her past meeting her present and a race against time to find the missing little girl.
This story was so compelling and I was invested from the start. Emily is a strong and resilient character and I loved how she handled herself when things got too close to home and flashbacks plagued her.
I loved the small snippets of Emily's past and her time with her abductor. It really showed her strength and gave an insight to her backstory.
There are themes of PTSD and OCD which are handled with the utmost sensitivity,
This was a fantastic start to a new series and I am really excited to see where it goes from here.
thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for my advanced copy. My thoughts on this review were my own.

This was a very fast paced read especially since there was a lot of dialogue. I liked how the twist was unexpected and we did not have to wait until the end of the book.

FBI agent Emily Ray is called upon to solve the case of a missing child. Emily can't help noticing the eerie similarities to an abduction decades ago, where she herself was the victim.
I requested this book on a whim because the premise sounded so intriguing. I loved the idea of our protagonist being a former victim herself. I zipped through this book in about a day. It was non-stop action, well-written, and the perfect mix of current timeline and backstory. Emily Ray was an absolute delight of a character and I will definitely read more books that come out in this series. The plot itself was so interesting and shocked me a number of times. I experienced so many emotions throughout and I was on the edge of my seat wondering how it would all wrap up, and when it did it was absolute perfection.
4.75/5⭐

My Name is Emily Ray by Michelle Dominguez Greene is an electrifying and emotionally charged mystery that grabs hold from the very first page and refuses to let go. What initially appears to be a classic investigative thriller quickly reveals unexpected layers, culminating in a twist that is both shocking and satisfying.
Greene masterfully builds suspense, drawing readers into Emily Ray’s world with a gripping narrative and well-paced revelations. While elements of FBI and procedural intrigue set the foundation, the novel distinguishes itself through its emotional intensity and the bold narrative turns it takes. The storytelling is immersive and brisk, making it easy to become fully absorbed in the mystery at its core.
What truly elevates the novel is its ability to surprise. Just when the reader thinks they know where the story is headed, Greene delivers a plot twist that is as stunning as it is well-executed. My Name is Emily Ray is a standout thriller with heart, intelligence, and a haunting finale that lingers long after the final page.

Wow! This book! Did not expect that ending and plot twist! This book was so good! I loved the parallels between the past and present kidnappings. I will definitely check out more from this author.

This book was so good with so many twists and turns. I never knew what was coming next and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Absolutely loved this book and will definitely be reading more from Michelle Dominguez Greene! 100% recommend to anyone interested in crime, kidnapping, and plot twists!

I was not a fan of this book. Hard to get into and stay invested. Little to no character development. Will not be reading any more of this authors books.

This is a very good read, the start of a new series, with such well developed characters. I really liked Emily's character and the insight into her personal life also. She is a complex and very interesting person, as well as being an excellent FBI agent. This is more a psychological thriller, in my opinion, rather than a mystery. The plotting deals with child abduction, mental health and PTSD but is handled with great sensitivity and respect for the reader. A clever twist just added to the appeal and I am sure readers will love the read. I highly recommend to lovers of psychological thrillers and mysteries. I really look forward to reading more of Emily and I hope we don't have too long to wait for a follow up. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I loved this book. It felt like I was reading an episode of Criminal Minds.
The story was fast pased and it kept you on the edge of your seat. I did predict the plot twist halfway through the book, but I was still shocked by it.
I can’t wait for the next book!
*A huge thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for giving me a chance to review this book. The opportunity is greatly appreciated!*

Okay I loved this book!!! It felt like watching a true crime dramatization.
I was hooked from the beginning, and could not put this down. It was seriously addictive.
The ending was a little lack luster for me, especially after all the build up but that's ok.

28 years ago Emily Ray went missing from the local park, a park she had visited many times before. After many years being kept in a basement Emily is found. She is now part of the FBI finding missing children for a living.
So when Josie Vance, an 8 year old girl matching 8 year old Emily's description, goes missing in the exact same circumstances in the same park, Emily must fight her trauma response to help find Josie alive.
What. A. Book. I must say this is probably one of my favourite reads of this year. The writing was absolutely brilliant and I did NOT want to put it down. And that twist?! WHAT! how did I not see that coming?! This is the first book I've read from this author but it certainly won't be the last!!! I really hope we follow Emily's career, this could be a fantastic series!

Thanks Storm Publishing for the ARC!
Special Agent Emily Ray, may have been an acclaimed FBI agent and the head of the bureau’s child abduction team now, but 20 years ago, she was once an abducted child herself and spent years as a captive before she managed to escape the grasp of her captor. Due to that experience she had as a child, it is now her lifelong mission to help abducted children come back to their parents.
With her expertise in finding abducted children, she and her team were called to the scene where a young girl named Josie Vance disappeared; however, right from the start, Emily noticed the eerie resemblance to her abduction years ago, and as the case progresses, even details that she is the only one who knows about resurfaces, aand secrets she had painstakingly buried all these years.
I really enjoyed this book. Emily is a no-nonsense narrator, her flashbacks throughout the book helped a lot in tying the story together, and because I enjoy watching Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, the police procedural scenes/details are a delight for me. The progress of the story is done just right for me; it did not drag on in some parts, especially with the reveals and twists, and it was not held back to make the book longer, thus it left room for the characters’ development to shine through. I did expect some drama to happen though, which was a surprise when it didn’t.
The book is a good crime thriller, but it also tells a story of resilience and rising from the ashes. You should definitely check out this book when it’s out on May 27, 2025

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

MY NAME IS EMILY RAY - This book caught me by surprise with one thing. I was so immersed in the intriguing story lines that I finished the book in one sitting. I like the characters and their dialog, the outcome, and the fact there is another book. The best character is probably the husband, although there are many good characters. Source: Netgalley. 5*

oh if this is the first in a series. well thankyou for first giving me a look into book one. and second for this being the start of a new series.because what a start and what a person to follow!
we are given Special Agent Emily Ray. she is the lead of the child abduction unit. but she is not just any lead. because she knows more about this than most should or would ever deserve to know. because she was abducted herself and kept for year until she finally escaped. and since then she has made it her mission to help others find their way home. it hasnt always gone well for Emily. she has had "failures" to find those she is searching for. or finding those too late to save them.
then she is called in to find a missing child. one who bring her past right back to meet her and possibly beat her. for their are links to her own abduction.
this is such a fascinating and superb book. its deeper than a thriller and poses many more thoughtful questions throughout. it would actually be a great discussion book. because their are even darker points to even the way people are searched for. because after all we all know what we see on tv about missing children is only the "ones we see". and why. why those children. and what about the others?
the author writes with tenderness and care. not only about the case but also about the surviving of massive trauma.
there are of course trigger which reader might want to feel they are sure they can read a book like this on. but the blurb will give anyone their red flags should they need to give this one a miss. and that is ok to not be able to cope with those things.
but this book isnt gross about it. and its done ever so well.
and besides all that is a fantastic book. like reallllllly good.

This was my first read by Michelle Dominguez Greene. I really enjoyed My Name is Emily Ray and hope to read more by this author in the future.

For a shorter book, My Name is Emily Ray packs a big punch. It’s the first book in the new series, Special Agent Emily Ray, and leaves you wanting the next book immediately. I really enjoyed it and caught myself stopping every few chapter to update my husband on what was going on. Lots of twists and overall just a great story. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance copy in exchange for a honest review.

I’ve read a lot of books from Storm Publishing, and I have to say that this one is hands down my favorite. It was incredible! It had some very clear Isabella Maldonado vibes to it. I was actually wondering if that was a comp for this book because I’m using Maldonado as one of my comps. This story was a page turner from start to finish. The story was incredible, the characters were incredible, the pacing, all of it was fantastic. And when a big reveal happens halfway to three quarters through the book, I couldn’t believe I didn’t see it myself. All the clues were there and I didn’t follow them like I normally do because I was too into the story. I did know who the kidnapper was from the beginning though! Add to that that the story is set in Victorville. This made me laugh hysterically because it’s where I grew up (on Rodeo Drive to be exact). It’s a lot bigger now, not being limited to just the Scandia and the Harris’s department store. Is that still there? Anyway, it was an absolute s***hole when I lived there, so I had no problem picturing every single thing, especially when it came to Tibbs’ house. It’s clear the author knows herself and did a lot of research. I really can’t recommend this book enough. If you like a killer police procedural with a unique character, you will love this book!
Huge thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!
