I found this book on Netgalley and was familiar with the author, but hadn't read anything by him before. After being approved, I realized I actually had a copy of the book on my bookshelf. So I'm assuming there's another edition of this book coming out later this year. I also didn't realize when I requested the book that it was the 5th in the Eddie Flynn series.
Despite not having read the previous books in the series, I feel like the book could be read as a standalone. It seemed like any background information readers needed was repeated in the story. (Though, since it's the only one in the series I have read, there's a chance I could be wrong.)
I've been reading a lot of thrillers lately, and one thing I look for is having a plot that's not easily predictable, and a good twist that I don't see coming, but still makes sense. Fifty Fifty was a solid read, though I did predict what would happen pretty early on in the book. It didn't hinder the enjoyment, but I didn't feel like the plot was very original. It's still worth the read, especially if you enjoy court room thrillers.

Two sisters are blaming each other for their extremely wealthy father’s murder. Both sisters have excellent lawyers that believe in their innocence. Both daughters have their own versions of what really happened. As this trial unfolds, this unbelievable story unravels with brilliant attorney Eddie Flynn representing one of the sisters and trying to find out the truth. Fast paced excellent addition to the Eddie Flynn series.

Cavanagh knocks it out of the park again! I mistakenly fell into the Eddie Flynn series, and boy am I happy that I did! I am not reading them in order and still don’t feel like I’m missing a beat! This is an absolutely fantastic series!

I am officially addicted to Eddie Flynn and this fabulously brilliant series. Fifty-Fifty is book five and it knocked my socks off! I loved every minute of this action-packed, courtroom thriller. The twists were explosive, and I kept swinging back and forth like a pendulum with my thoughts on which sister was guilty. For the life of me, I could not guess. I loved that the author used multiple POVs and how they were constantly switched. I felt that this added more dramatic tension to what was going to happen next and kept me on the edge of my seat. The anticipation just continued to build and build until the killer was revealed. So well written! And the characters! I am obsessed with Eddie, but all of the characters that have had continued roles throughout the series are extremely interesting to say the least. Hoping Lizard will make another pop-up appearance in the next book. If you're a fan of legal/crime/courtroom thrillers, this book and the full series are for you! I highly recommend!
Thank you to Atria Books for granting me a digital ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. Their father has been brutally murdered and two sisters are blaming each other for the murder. We know one sister must have committed murder but which one? I kept changing my mind up until the very end. Very enjoyable. It is part of a series but I didn't have any trouble following the story without reading others in the series.

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh has an absolutely killer premise — two sisters, one murder, and each one accusing the other. From the get-go, the 911 calls had me hooked, and I was fully invested in trying to figure out which sister was lying. It’s a clever setup that promises a wild ride, and Cavanagh definitely delivers on the twists.
That said, the story takes a bit of time to find its rhythm. The opening act feels slow, with a lot of procedural groundwork laid before the real tension kicks in. It’s not that the writing isn’t sharp — it is — but the pacing doesn’t quite match the high-octane concept at first. Once the courtroom drama picks up, though, it becomes a page-turner.
The legal side is where Cavanagh shines, and fans of his Eddie Flynn series will appreciate the familiar intelligence and slick maneuvering in the courtroom. I did wish the sisters had been developed a bit more beyond their roles in the mystery — at times, it felt like their characterization took a back seat to the twists.
Still, if you enjoy psychological thrillers with a strong legal angle and don’t mind a slower start, Fifty Fifty is worth the read. The payoff is satisfying, and trying to untangle the truth from the lies kept me guessing right up to the end.
**Rounded up from 3.5 stars**

Wow!!! I’m floored! What a great book! My opinions on who did it kept volleying back and forth. Steve Cavanagh wrote an amazing book! I loved all the details from the different perspectives. I was always rethinking the conclusion while new information was being presented. Highly recommend reading this one! Definitely will check out the previous books!

"911, what's your emergency?"
This book was intense. A story of two sisters, both call 911 to report their father brutally murdered, one is innocent...the other is not.
We get a split narrative with this book. We get the detectives POV as well as the murderer's, who is only referred to as "She". As the reader we are quickly invited into the entire process starting with the 911 call to the conviction. Right when you think you have it pegged...think again!
It was so well written and easy to follow along. Thank you for the opportunity for the early read!

The book was entertaining enough to get through quickly, but the twist at the end was very lacking. I wish the twist had been better because the premise was very interesting. I just think that the execution could have been much better.

It was ok didn’t grab my attention at first as I wanted it to but I had to see it through and I am glad I didn’t because it did pick up and turn out well

Steve Cavanaugh is a master web-weaver. Once again, the web couldn’t be any more tangled than it is in Fifty-Fifty. Eddie, Harper and Harry are back at it and by the 3rd chapter, you’re completely enthralled. In this unique concept, two sisters are pitted against each other, by their own accord, and are on trial for the murder of their high-profile father.
Sofia and Alexandra couldn’t be more different even though they share the same goal….to convince a jury of their peers that their sister is a killer. Someone is guilty, but who?
I highly recommend Fifty-Fifty!!

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is a thrilling, twist-filled legal drama that will have readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. With an explosive premise involving two sisters, Alexandra and Sofia, each accusing the other of their father’s murder, Cavanagh brilliantly weaves a narrative of deception, suspense, and betrayal that keeps you guessing at every turn.
The book opens with two distressing 911 calls: one sister claims the other is the murderer, and both insist that help is urgently needed. The question is: who’s telling the truth, and who’s the killer? This dual-perspective approach pulls readers into the heart of the case, making it nearly impossible to put down as we try to piece together the truth.
What really stands out in Fifty Fifty is Cavanagh’s ability to craft complex characters with motives that keep you questioning their every move. The dynamic between Alexandra and Sofia is charged with tension, and the reader is left trying to decipher the truth while also wrestling with their own suspicions. The courtroom drama is intense and clever, and the twists and turns are relentless, making for a fast-paced read.
Fans of legal thrillers and gripping whodunits will find Fifty Fifty to be an absolute page-turner. Cavanagh’s skillful writing, combined with a heart-pounding plot, ensures this book is a must-read for anyone looking for a smart, suspenseful, and ultimately satisfying thriller. Highly recommended for lovers of complex mysteries and courtroom drama!

3.5 Stars. This is not my favorite Cavanagh book. I was still entertained and engaged, but compared to other titles this fell a bit flat. The twist was not really the big surprise you’re used to with Cavanagh, however I’ll still look forward to reading future titles.

"Fifty Fifty" is a captivating legal thriller that immediately grabbed my attention with its sharp dialogue, intricate plotting, and thought-provoking moral dilemmas. As someone who ADORES Cavanagh's work, I certainly wasn't disappointed, and I think newcomers to the series will find themselves just as invested in Eddie Flynn's world as I am. It's the perfect kind of book for when you want a fast-paced, twisty thriller that keeps you guessing right up to the final page. If you're a fan of authors like Michael Connelly or John Grisham, "Fifty Fifty" is definitely a must-read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

This is my 2nd Steve Cavanagh book and he is definitely on my “auto-read” authors now! I absolutely love the twists and turns in this novel; especially as a woman with a sister, lol. I’m also a huge fan of a multiple POV book. All of these ingredients combine for a delicious meal!

this was a really good book! It is a mysterious book that makes you wonder what exactly went on during the incident that occurred. It was so eerie, it made you feel anxious and worried while reading. I loved it! I have read other books from this author and they are great!!
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book

The Eddie Flynn series is so fun and thrilling. This was not my favorite in the series but I enjoyed it still. I recommend for fans of Law and Order and shows like that. I was shocked by the turn of events in this one and can't wait to keep going.

Psycho thriller about 2 sisters, Alexandria and Sophia, both accused of killing their father. Very good plot with an exciting ending. The murders were too graphic which wasn’t necessary and didn’t add to the story.
