When two sisters each call 911 reporting the other has brutally murdered their father, who is to be believed?

I have never picked up an Eddie Flynn novel but found this to be an easy transition into this series. Eddie was a great protagonist and the twists in this novel kept me on the edge of my seat! The reveals were satisfying and I’m very interested in continuing on in this series.

Highly recommend to fans of legal thrillers!

The plot of “Fifty Fifty” had so much promise and that plot kept me engaged through the end when I found other aspects a little meh. The book had me right in the beginning, two sisters call 911 at the exact same time when their father is stabbed to death in his home with both sisters accusing each other of the hyper violent crime.

From there we get varying point of view chapters from both sisters’ lawyers and from the killer, although we don’t know which sister is narrating at the time. I kept trying to look for clues tucked in there but I couldn’t find any which was driving me mad, it all the best ways.

I read “Fifty Fifty” because I absolutely had to know what happened but I found the writing to be a little cringey at time. There were some forced “current event” references that made me roll my eyes. These things kept me from loving this one, but I still recommend it.

You’ll love this book if you love:

✅Mysteries

Fifty Fifty is an intense and compelling thriller by author Steve Cavanagh featuring former conman turned lawyer Eddie Flynn. This is the fifth Eddie Flynn novel, however, you can read them in any order. The story revolves around two sisters, each accusing the other of their father’s murder, leading to a tense and unpredictable courtroom battle. Eddie is representing Sofia and Sofia’s sister Alexandra is represented by lawyer Kate Brooks.

Mr. Cavanagh writes very well developed and lovable characters. The pace of the book is perfect and each chapter ends with you wanting more. It was hard to put down.

The part of the book which discusses the trial was riveting. I felt like I was part of the jury myself.

Overall, Fifty Fifty is a tightly written, twisty thriller that will appeal to fans of both psychological and legal thrillers.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria books for this ARC I’m change for my honest review.

Another Eddie Flynn mystery that kept me guessing right up until the last chapter!! I love the court room drama and the characters were very likable. Even the smallest details proved to be clues to finding out who really murdered Frank Avellino.

Frank is a rich man who is murdered and the 2 main suspects are his daughters. Sofia and Alexandra. They are both blaming the other sister. The girls both definitely have their own issues.
We get to follow Eddie Flynn and Kate Brooks as the defense lawyers who are representing them in the biggest case they’ve seen in a long time.

It was such a cool thing having a point of view of the killer, not knowing who it is. I found myself searching for the smallest details in her chapters so I could try figuring it out on my own. I was guessing until the end.

The lawyer talk was so fun to read too. I loved the court proceedings and seeing the evidence laid out for us as the reader while knowing what we know from the killers POV. I couldn’t stop reading once I got to the trial part of the book.

I know this is the 5th book in this Eddie Flynn series, but in my opinion this can be easily read as a stand alone. Definitely recommend!

What a masterfully crafted legal courtroom drama/family drama thriller of a book. Wow. That was a rush of the best kind. Can't wait to read another.

I was able to read a rerelease of Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh. This is part of his Eddie Flynn series and I ’ve read a few of the others. This one was entertaining and a page turner! One night we have two calls into 911 reporting the murder of the former mayor; in a twist of events, both callers are his daughters, each blaming the other for the murder. The rest of the story goes through all happens leading up to and through the trial. We get perspectives of both defense attorneys, one of which is Mister Flynn himself, the daughters and an interesting insight into the inner workings of the killer; is it one of the daughters? The way this plays out was entertaining, shocking at times and suspenseful. I was able to figure this one out though but was still caught off guard by other things that happened. With there be continuation of certain characters from other books in this series, I think I need to read his previous books before I read more. I’m really enjoying this series thus far and recommend checking this out.

I am officially a Steve Cavanagh fan. His thrillers do not disappoint. This book is not new but is being released in the US on June 3rd, 2025. Two sisters on trial for their father’s murder. Both claiming the other one did it. Loved the twists. Read in one sitting.

This is hands down one of my favorite novels written by Steve Cavanagh.

We start off with a phone call to 999/911. It's two sisters on two different lines saying the same thing: my father is dead, my sister killed him. If you want to start off with a bang, this is one hell of a way to do it.

From that moment, I knew this book was going to be so good and full of twists and characters that pulled you in. I knew that so well, that 20 pages in I was hooked. I was thinking obsessively of this book when it wasn't in my hands and I couldn't stop my mind from coming up with how this book would go. The twist, while I won't mention it, was so fun and worked so well in this story. I loved Eddie, rooted for others, and probably came to the wrong conclusion about six different times.

If you want a fast-paced thriller with characters that are so well written you forget they aren't real, start here with Fifty-Fifty.

Steve Cavanagh's Fifty Fifty is a fast-paced legal thriller that delivers all the tension, twists, and courtroom drama fans of the genre crave. As the third installment in the Eddie Flynn series, the book stands well on its own, offering new readers a complete and gripping story while giving returning fans more of the morally driven, sharp-witted ex-con lawyer they've come to admire.

The premise revolves around a brutal murder and a legal battle between two sisters, each accusing the other of the crime. What sets the novel apart is its clever narrative structure, which keeps you guessing who is guilty and why. Cavanagh masterfully balances suspense with procedural detail, weaving in psychological depth and unexpected turns without overwhelming the reader.

Eddie Flynn remains one of modern legal fiction's most likable and compelling characters. His moral compass, courtroom charisma, and unrelenting pursuit of justice make him easy to root for. The pacing is tight, the dialogue snappy, and the stakes feel real throughout.

Overall, Fifty Fifty is an engrossing read that blends legal drama with psychological thriller elements to keep you hooked from the first page to the last. Whether you're a fan of courtroom intrigue or enjoy a good mystery, this one’s worth picking up.

Eddie Flynn! Two sisters who despise each other are accused of the same murder individually. Eddie is defending Sofia. This was a grisly murder, you feel like you are in the room.  Told through multiple POVs, including HER, the murderer. This was a true pleasure to read, Eddie Flynn has become one of my favorite literary character. Filled with innumerable twists and turns, this is a ultra faced paced story that flows incredibly smooth. This is easily a five star read.

Two sisters on trial for murder. They accuse each other. Who do you believe? From Steve Cavanagh, the “wickedly clever” (The New York Times) master of twisty psychological thrillers.

“911 what’s your emergency?”

“My dad’s dead. My sister Sofia killed him. She’s still in the house. Please send help.”

“My dad’s dead. My sister Alexandra killed him. She’s still in the house. Please send help.”

One of them is a liar and a killer.

But which one?

Steve Cavanagh's Eddie Flynn series has quickly become my go-to when I am looking for a good legal thriller. Cavanagh consistently delivers with his fast-paced stories of murder and intrigue, and I have enjoyed every offering I have read from this author. Flynn is a complex character who is a bit unconventional in his methods, and the road from the beginning to the end of each of his cases is filled with enough twists and turns to keep any reader entertained.

This particular novel had me wondering the entire time if I had actually figured out "who done it" because I didn't think I was going with the obvious choice. I won't say whether I was correct or not because that might border on being a spoiler, but I will say that when I came to the eventual conclusion, I was completely satisfied with where the story had ended up.

I believe I have another Eddie Flynn novel on my docket for later this summer, and I can't wait to dive into it. I will keep reading these books for as long as Cavanagh writes them...and I hope that he has more of these thrillers up his sleeve.

I love reading Cavanaugh’s Eddie Flynn books. I
wasn't sure which sister was guilty throughout this book and kept going back and forth. I liked the ending but wss sad about Harper. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Fifty Fifty is not a book I would normally read. A courtroom who done it is normally not for me but the premise was intriguing. 2 daughters call and say that the other has murdered their wealthy father. So which sister truly did it? This novel had multiple POV’s and I was SHOCKED by the ending. Which does not normally happen to me. 4⭐️

Two 911 calls, each made by a sister accusing the other of brutally murdering their father. Both girls are arrested and it’s up to their lawyers to help prove who is innocent and who is guilty.
What a wild ride!! From the start of this book to the last page this book was so suspense, filled with some great twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. With alternating chapters between Eddie, Kate and the killer it definitely added to the suspense. I definitely went back and forth throughout the story to who I was certain was guilty which I loved.

This is such a tense legal thriller, it kept me guessing which way it would sway all the way through and was a gripping read from start to finish.

This was my first Steve Cavanagh novel (thanks to Maudee Genao from SS Atria books for the complementary copy), but it wont' be my last! This was a twisted psychological game with layers of lies. Eddy, Harry, Kate and of what will be the regular characters were well developed, and I enjoyed their backstories because I know these characters continue in future books. The layout of the book was a little different for me, with the points of view labeled. You know the crime up front and know the suspects, but it really was difficult to figure out who the culprit was, I don't know if I have read a book with so many little twists of reason before - it really kept me on my toes! I loved it! I will definitely be following this author! This was an intense read!

Two sisters accuse one another of murdering their father. Millions of dollars of inheritance are up for grabs. Defense attorney Eddie Flynn only represents clients he knows are innocent. But as this trial progresses, Eddie realizes he's caught in a deadly game of chess between two sisters, and the verdict could go fifty fifty.

I picked up Witness 8 earlier this year, but had a hard time connecting with the characters and decided not to finish it. I didn't realize this was another Eddie Flynn book when I picked it up, if I had then I might have skipped it. However, I find this book more engaging and stuck with it to the end.

This book was fine. I prefer my crime novels to have more nuanced portrayals of the suspects' inner workings, but I think that was a missed opportunity here. The chapters from the killer's perspective felt more like a gimmick to me than an examination of their motives.

A quick legal thriller for any fans of the genre, but I think there are superior options out there.

Such a twisty page turner! This book really had me guessing and questioning what I thought the outcome would be. Riddled with clues and misdirection throughout.

A fast paced. twisty read that kept me turning the pages. I've read several of this authors books and enjoy his writing. However, this is not one of my favorites.
