Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I really loved the multiple view points especially from “She”. The main characters were so likable and the dynamic between them flowed so well. I loved Eddie’s past and feel like it makes him so unique. I loved that he not only covered a full court case but also showed the whole judicial system. It made it very interesting to see how all the parts come together. The book had you guessing who it was until the very end. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would continue to read the series. I would give it 3.5 stars but I am going to round up to 4.

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is a case of good sister vs evil sister. When the story opens up, two frantic phone calls are made to 911, each call claiming the other sister murdered their father. You can feel the adrenaline even through the writing. Defense lawyer, Eddie Flynn, is back, and he has taken on the case of one of the sisters, Sofia. The other defense lawyer is Kate, who has taken on the case of the other sister, Alexandria. Because both sisters were at the crime scene with DNA pointing at both of them, they are tried together, and the prosecution makes sure there won’t be two separate trials. They don’t care which sister did it; they just want the guaranteed conviction.

But what’s the motive in killing their father? He is worth millions being the ex-mayor of NYC and was in the process of changing his will. So which sister did it? I thought I knew, but this book left me with my jaw open.

The narration is through all four characters, but also SHE, which is the sister who is the guilty one. We quickly realize that we have a serial killer on our hands, and she has no remorse. The characters are well developed, giving us background on their upbringing and the aftermath of some incidents that make you realize why this sister would have some psychological problems affecting her as she grew up.

If you are someone who loves to watch court tv, documentaries on serial killers, and murder mysteries, then this book is absolutely perfect for you. Even the courtroom scenes have shocking and clever moments from the defense, and you feel like you are sitting in the room watching this all unfold. The SHE character also gets to work on removing witnesses, so you’ll be on a reader rollercoaster navigating the emotions throughout.

4.5 stars. Thank you to netgalley and atria books for the review copy.

I absolutely loved this book. What a concept, two sisters that are both accused of murdering their father? I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did it, and if I was missing something. Steve Cavanaghs writing is phenomenal. The suspense of the trial was perfectly executed, and the characters were complex and interesting.

Highly recommend.

Thank you Atria for my gifted copy!

Eddie Flynn is the man, and the premise of this sucked me right in. I have been reading this series out of order - with the author’s encouragement lol. I have enjoyed others with Eddie Flynn, but this one felt a little too procedural for me and it was hard to completely fall into. It wasn’t my favorite, but that won’t deter me from reading the rest of this series!

In true Cavanagh fashion, this book hooked me from the beginning. So much action and chaos in the very first chapter, a true page turner. If you’re looking for a super dark, fast paced read with a plot twist you didn’t see coming…this is your book. This is my fourth Cavanagh read and I already can’t wait for my next one. Steve’s mind is absolutely brilliant. I highly recommend! Thank you atria for the advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.

As with every book by Steve Cavanagh, it was fantastic! Another great fast paced, who done it, trial case. Packed with suspense that kept you guessing. I especially enjoyed the multiple POVs. I would say this book is predictable, because well, it is, however I just kept going so back and forth that I was starting to think I way the crazy one. Oh she did it, no it was her, but no that would be too easy, wait there still has to be a killer, my internal monologue was so confused. But, in the best way, I was second guessing myself every chapter. Definitely recommend!!

Thank you Atria Books publishing for providing me an ARC cop via NetGalley in exchange for my review.

“It was as if Alexandra had caught every drop of sun, and Sofia had lived all her life pale and hungry in the long, cold shadow of her sister.”

Ya I LOVED this one. Courtroom drama, stalk1ng, murd3r, family secrets and so much more. Steve always keeps me guessing up until the bitter end! This is technically book 5 in the Eddie Flynn series but can definitely be read as a standalone. After this I will FOR SURE be needing more Eddie in my life. HIGHLY recommend for my thriller girlies!

3.5⭐️: A little disclaimer and grievance before I get into the review…. The Netgalley description doesn’t say this is an Eddie Flynn novel. Now that’s not a big deal because I liked the last EF novel I read. What is annoying is that this is book 5 and the book I read was book 8. Why is 5 being republished after 8?

Now that that’s settled, onto the story itself. This is a classic she said, she said. Two sisters accusing each other of killing their father. You even get the killers POV but everything is left vague. The chapters are just labeled SHE. The cast of characters are really enjoyable to follow. Especially for this being mostly about lawyers and the court case and such.

I HIGHLY recommend reading this series in order. Or if you’re choosing only a few stories, still reading them in number order. There was parts of this that had no suspense for me because I knew what happened due to reading out of order.

All this to say, I enjoyed this book. I’m really starting to like Eddie and the gang.

Thank you @atriabooks @simon.audio #partner for the gifted copies of this book!

Eddie Flynn (or should I say Steve Cavanagh) kills it again! This is my second book in the Eddie Flynn series and once again, I’m blown away by Steve’s wild creativity and sharp-as-hell knowledge of the U.S. legal system. Now, full disclosure — I’m not a lawyer, so no idea how accurate any of it actually is… but honestly? I don’t care. It’s entertaining as hell.

This one kicks off with a bang: an intense 911 call where a father is found murdered in his home. His daughter Alexandria calls it in and points the finger straight at her sister Sophia. But wait — plot twist! Moments later, another 911 call comes in from Sophia, claiming Alexandria is the killer. Two sisters. One murder. One giant liar. HOW FUN IS THIS PLOT?!

Steve Cavanagh absolutely crushes it when it comes to clever, fast-paced, unputdownable legal thrillers. His stories are always ingenious, addicting, stressful in the best way, and even sprinkle in some sharp humor. If you’re a fan of David Ellis or love courtroom thrillers with a serious twist, you need to jump on this series.

Also — the audiobook? 10/10. Bravo!

Five stars from me, and I can’t wait to bring more Eddie Flynn chaos into my life.

FIVE STARS for this legal thriller that had me guessing until the very end!

Okay—how does Steve Cavanagh keep writing books that hook me like this?! Every time I read another book by him, I’m blown away in the best possible way!

Fifty Fifty was fast, smart, and full of twists that kept me guessing until the very end.

The story starts with two sisters. Their dad is murdered, and both of them call 911 at the same time… blaming each other. I was instantly pulled in!

This book has everything I look for in a legal thriller - mind games, courtroom drama, and a mystery that’s hard to solve. I was so happy to see Eddie Flynn back in action. He’s clever, brave, and always taking risks that make the story super intense. The scenes in court felt real and dramatic, and I found myself holding my breath during the big moments - most especially when Kate was on the floor!

If you like thrillers with great characters, surprise twists, and high-stakes trials, Fifty Fifty needs to be on your list. You can check it out June 3rd when it’s rereleased!

Huge thanks to NetGalley, Steve Cavanagh, and Atria Books for this awesome read!

When two sisters call 911 on each other and say that they other killed their dad...
This book is a chess game full of masterful moves by Steve Cavanaugh.

It keeps you guessing as to which sister is truly the killer, and until the final reveal you can't be certain.

This page turner kept me invested, and I will be back for more in this series as they come out!

Eddie Flynn and Steve Cavanagh are an unbeatable duo😆

This is the 8th book I’ve read by Steve Cavanagh and I cannot get enough. Even as I’m not reading as many thrillers, his never miss.

The tagline for this one is all you need, two sisters on trial for murder. They accuse each other. Who do you believe? And BANG were off! Back with Eddie Flynn, ex-conman turned defense lawyer.

I read this in one day and couldn’t put it down. I kept going back and forth on which sister I thought was guilty. Cavanagh is truly a masterful writer and so so smart. As I read his books, I don’t know how he keeps everything straight and manages to weave such smart stories. And he writes great, unique and memorable characters! (Something I don’t usually find in this genre.) 4.5 stars.

*Everyone always asks, this is part of the Eddie Flynn series... Do I have to read them in order? And my answer is no! I read number 4 first and then I went back and read 1,2,3. Then I read 8 and now 5. I do think it probably makes for a better overall narrative to read them in order, but not necessary!

Sisters, Alexandra and Sofia Avellino, call 911 simultaneously to report the death of their father, but they accuse each other of the brutal murder. An investigation unfolds as the two lawyers, one desperate to prove herself and one with a notorious reputation, defending different sisters attempt to convince the jury of the guilt of the opposite sister.

Have you ever read a book that you were mostly enjoying, but then the ending was so flat that it ruined most of the reading experience??? That's how I felt about this one. What a giant let down at the end. I felt like the tension and the character dynamics were building in such an intense and interesting way, and I was waiting for a big bang to blow up everything I thought I knew.... But it never came. It is one of the most anticlimactic endings I have ever read. Major disappointment here, for what could've been a really great crime thriller. I've seen a lot of love for this book, so maybe I missed something, but idk..... This ending was horrible.

Steve Cavanagh has done it again. As someone who absolutely devoured Kill for Me, Kill for You earlier this year, I came into Fifty Fifty with high expectations and they were exceeded.

The book starts off strong with compelling characters and a legal premise that immediately grabs attention. But what truly set this apart was the pacing and suspense. Around the halfway point, the story hit a new level of intensity. I found myself glued to the pages, staying up way past bedtime just to find out the truth.

The guessing game about who the real killer is was brilliantly executed. Every twist and turn had me questioning everything. Cavanagh’s writing is sharp and immersive, his character work is layered, and the courtroom scenes are just masterfully done.

This is why I love legal thrillers. Fifty Fifty is clever, emotional, and utterly gripping. I’m officially adding Steve Cavanagh to my must-read list. Highly recommended!

Will forever eat up anything Steve Cavanagh. Give me every book ever written the day it is published. The Eddie Flynn series just keeps getting better and better and I am here for it. I was shocked throughout this entire book and love that it is being released in the US now. Cannot wait for the rest of the series!

Wow!! This was a whirlwind of a book. Really keeps you guessing. A sister “Who Done It” book. It comes from 3 POV’s that were all easy to follow. Especially when “She” told her POV. 1 murder…2 sisters on trial. Both are accusing each other…there is a fifty fifty chance one is the killer.

I have been caught in this series being released by @simonbooks even though I began with WITNESS 8. Fortunately, these can be read as standalone novels, so I am all in on this one, thanks to the publisher and @netgalley!

Eddie Flynn is a lawyer who will only represent people who are innocent, a character reader skill he is quite proud of. When Sophia comes to him with the request to represent her in her father's brutal murder, she insists it was her much more culturally accepted sister who wielded the blade.

Kate is fresh off a resignation from her skeezy law firm with the client she brought with her, Alexandra of whom she is convinced is innocent of her father's brutal murder by the hands of her sister, the mentally unstable Sophia. She has the skills and tenacity to get at the truth.

One of these sisters killed their father, but which one?

Told from Eddie, Kate, and "She" perspectives, this is a very exciting cat-&-mouse, courtroom thriller with questions swirling around each sister through to the end. I had a hunch of the truth, but had no idea how, so it was all very satisfying to read it all come together. And I wasn't quite right! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I thoroughly enjoy these novels and they are such quick reads, that I am already excited to start the next one that releases in August!

Steve Cavanaugh is a master at smart legal thrillers and this addition to the Eddie Flynn series is no exception. While the whole series is worth reading, each can be read as a stand alone and do not need to be read in order. Two sisters make desperate 911 calls announcing their father has just been murdered by the other sister. Who is the real killer? This is a tense, fast paced thriller with some intensely graphic violence that was absolutely riveting. While I suspected the true culprit, the intricate plot kept this entertaining until the end. I absolutely loved the new characters in this one- Kate and Bloch. I can never get enough of strong, smart female protagonists and these two bring the novel to life. I will continue the read this series and look forward to spending more time with these characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orion for an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Steve Cavanaugh continues to amaze me! I'm late to his books and the Eddie Flynn series, but this and Thirteen have been phenomenal! I was hooked right from the start and what a fantastic set up - two sisters on trial for murder and each accuses the other of the crime. The book is told through a variety of POV's and I thought it was so clever to leave the "She" chapters purposefully cryptic, so the reader had no idea which sister's head we were in. This book kept me guessing the entire time and my heart was not prepared for one particular twist. I loved how it all came together in the end and these characters have become some of my very favorites - Eddie, Kate, Bloch, Harry, and Clarence. I both read and listened to this one and the narration by Adam Sims was amazing. He voiced all of the different characters so wonderfully and I can't recommend this series enough!
