If I had a dollar for every time I changed my mind on which sister was guilty, I would be able to get some take out. But seriously, each sister thinks the other brutally murdered their dad, and I was here for it! Another amazing novel by Steve Cavanagh, with his main character, conman turned lawyer, Eddie Flynn. The story was super fun to try to figure out who murdered their dad, and I did not see the twists coming! I will absolutely be reading more Cavanagh novels!

This book was so good. I recently discovered Steve Cavanaugh and I’m now obsessed with his books. Thank you for the net galley copy of fifty fifty. It was fast paced with just enough action and mystery. The end was a bit rushed but overall a great book.

I like the thriller part, but not the courtroom or law prep. These are some very twisted sisters!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

I just read Steve Cavanagh for the first time last year and I loved his thriller. It was such a face paced read but with character development and just a bingeable read. I saw that this was coming out and I didn't realize that it was a sequel in an already published series. However, you don't need to read the other books in the series to understand what is going on in this one. The characters in this book were written so well. I loved how each chapter was a different characters perspective and it kept the book readable. I devoured it in two sittings. We follow two siblings who are both on trial for the murder of their father but only one of them killed him. We follow two different detectives trying to get the sisters off from murder. It is such a complex story where I kept going back and forth on who I thought actually killed him. Towards the end I thought I was correct but I still wasn't 100% sure and I adore books that keep you guessing until the very end and have you questioning what is actually true. I will definitely be picking up another book by Steve Cavanagh. Solid read; definitely recommend. 3.5/5 stars.

If Steve Cavanagh is writing it, you can bet I’m reading it! The storylines suck you in and turn everything upside down that you think will happen - Fifty Fifty is no different! This is part of a series but can definitely be read standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley, Steve Cavanagh, and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Steve Cavanagh’s Fifty Fifty is a gripping legal thriller that delves into a high-stakes murder case involving two sisters, Alexandra and Sofia Avellino. After their father, Frank Avellino, a former NYC mayor and millionaire, is brutally murdered, both sisters make separate 911 calls, accusing the other of the crime. The case hinges on which sister is telling the truth, and which one is lying.
The story alternates between Eddie Flynn, a former conman turned lawyer, and Kate Brooks, a defense attorney representing Alexandra. Eddie defends Sofia, despite her mental health struggles, while Kate is convinced of Alexandra’s innocence. The central mystery: which sister is the cold-blooded killer? Is it the seemingly successful Alexandra, or the vulnerable Sofia with a troubled past?
Cavanagh expertly builds suspense, with tense courtroom scenes and unexpected twists. The complex backstory of the Avellino family and the psychological damage inflicted on the sisters adds depth to the story. While there are moments where the plotting feels a bit forced, the novel’s fast pace and engaging characters make it an irresistible read.
Fifty Fifty is a thrilling, well-written addition to Cavanagh’s Eddie Flynn series, filled with moral dilemmas and suspense. Highly recommended for fans of courtroom drama and psychological thrillers.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am usually a fan of Steve Cavanagh but this book did not do it for me. I was very intrigued by the premise of two sisters accusing each other of their father’s murder, but it was so, so slow for quite some time. If you like a slow burn you’re in for a treat. I just prefer fast paced from start to finish.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Pretty good - felt like it was a little dragged out but overall good. Felt like the ending was obvious but overall would recommend. A few twists and turns throughout book.

I have been looking for another book that I couldn't down, and this was one of them.
The beginning immediately starts with both Avellino daughters making an emergency 911 call stating that their father was killed by her sister and to please send help. Was it Sofia? Or was is Alexandra?
Both sisters are now on trial for murder and claim that their sister was the one who did it. Two defense teams jump in and defend one of the sisters, and both fully believe that their client is innocent. Every piece of evidence could go either way. The Prosecutor is practically drooling at the easy win. Either one, or both defendants will go to jail.
The daughters had a demented childhood, with a non-loving mother who expected perfection from her daughters in the game of chess, otherwise there would be punishment, usually in the form of biting. She was later found dead, the death being questionable but ruled as an accident. Their step mother had a similar outcome. Their father Frank ends up sending them to separate boarding schools with little to no contact.
Fast forward into adult life, Frank is about to cut one of the sisters out of his will, and she is not having it, so she viciously murders her father and frames her sister in order to receive all of his inheritance.
I had started guessing the culprit, assuming it could go any possible way. I found myself flip flopping between my guesses and thought that I had it. I knew there was a twist coming, and there was. I found myself having a few suspense moments as certain things were happening. This killer will stop at nothing to save herself.
Thank you NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was the first book I have read by Steve Cavanagh, and I became a fan. This was such an easy, addicting read.

Another good title from Steve Cavanagh! This one I have to say, was slowwwww starting out. I had a bit of a hard time pushing through for a little while, but man when it picked up- it PICKED UP! About halfway through I flew through the rest of the book!

I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it! I did think that the beginning was a little slow, but hang in there and prepare for what is to come. This book kept me guessing and trying to decide who the villain really was! The ending was fantastic and wrapped up everything nicely!

Thank you to Atria Books and Steve Cavanagh for this ARC!
While the beginning of the book was a bit slow for me, by the middle I was hooked.
The story follows Flynn, who serves as the defense attorney for Sofia, who is accused in the brutal murder of her father. Sofia, on the other hand, says that her sister, Alexandra, killed their father and was going to kill her as well.
As in the title, fifty-fifty was how my mind was made up on which sister was the murderer up until the very end. The author puts you through a ping pong match between the two sisters with each chapter, thinking you know who the murderer is then changing your mind again.
Great read, excited to read more about Flynn in the authors other books!

Our favorite lawyer Eddie Flynn is back in this thrilling trial where 2 sisters accused of killing their father are pointing the finger at each other! I love this series and the fact that it can be read out of order. This is one that you truly can’t put down as the evidence builds and you keep wondering which sister is guilty!
Eddie is such a likable guy and Kate and Bosch are introduced in this book who are solid characters that add so much to the series. This is definitely a must read and I’m looking forward to read all the others in the series!

I love this series and this new book did not disappoint. I had a hard time trying to decide who done it and it kinda made me mad. Steve really did a great job on this bookand the story was solid.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of Fifty Fifty from Atria Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
When I first saw the cover, I knew this book was going to be good.
“Two sisters on trial for murder. Both accuse each other. Who do YOU believe?”
This book had me hooked from the very beginning. It it a multiple point-of-view thriller. It switches between Eddie, Kate and “She”. Throughout the whole book you’re trying to figure out who did it. There are so many little details that elude to one person. I thought I had it figured out and I was completely wrong. I thoroughly enjoy Steve Cavanagh’s writing style. It was a very easy and enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to see people rave about this book!

This was so fun!! I loved the pacing of it, I could not put it down. The dual POVs coming together and intertwining during the trial made it so thrilling to read, and I feel like there were so many little plot points embedded in the main plot which sometimes isn't written well but he did it perfectly! As someone studying law I loved all the legal stuff in here too, and the ending was amazing. Can't wait to read more of his.

BANGERRRRRR! Steve Cavanagh. BRAVO! This book was awesome! His writing is addicting and completely bingeable. Also, Eddie Flynn is an outstanding character! I WILL be reading this whole series! I absolutely cannot wait! The amount of suspense build was freaking CHEF’S KISS!!! I don’t know what else I can say to convince everyone to read this and/or this whole series but damn. I loved it!!!

Cavanagh has got to be one of the most interesting yet overlooked thriller writers of all time. His books are so much better than that other guy who’s been writing legal thrillers for many years. I desperately need Netflix to develop an Eddie Flynn series!

Fifty Fifty is an intriguing thriller with a good premise, but it didn't quite live up to its potential. While the twists kept me engaged, some parts felt predictable, and the pacing was a bit slow at times. It’s an enjoyable read, but not as gripping as I had hoped.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Books for this ARC. Another five star read from Steve Cavanagh in the amazing Eddie Flynn legal thriller series!
The story begins with two 911 call transcripts, both calls are placed minutes apart from one another, one call from Sofia Avellino, the other call from Alexandra Avellino. Both calls are placed from inside their father Frank Avellino's home claiming that their father is dead and their sister did it. Both sisters are covered in blood and have their fingerprints on the murder weapon. Sofia says it is Alexandra. Alexandra says it is Sofia. Their father Frank is the old mayor of New York City and has a lot of connections so this is a high profile case when word gets out that Frank has been brutally murdered with 53 stab wounds and his eyes gouged out with the only two suspects being his daughters. Whoever is acquitted is to inherit $49 Million. Who could the murderer be?
Eddie Flynn is a lawyer who only represents clients that he believes to be innocent and takes on the case of Sofia Avellino, knowing it is going to be a difficult case with her long history of self harm, and mental health problems. But with the help of his friend, a retired judge named Harry Ford and the woman he is in love with, a former FBI Agent who is now a PI named Harper, he feels he can win this case.
Kate Brooks is the lawyer representing Alexandra Avellino. This is her first real court case and her first case since leaving Levy, Bernard, and Groff and opening her own law firm to get away from the constant sexual harassment from a senior partner. She gets her friend and a current PI, Melissa Bloch to help her with the case. Alexandra is a confident and successful businesswoman, making her the more believable of the sisters....or is she?
This book has alternating point of views from Eddie, to Kate, to "She" (the murderer), and occasionally Harry. The entire story is full of twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat and wondering who the guilty sister is until the end.
