I really enjoyed this and the creativity. Having two sisters blame each other for the murder of their father in which they could both benefit. The part about how one of the sisters wanted to speed up the process of the father's death was crazy and the ending was so unexpected! I felt like I had an idea who did it while I was reading, but then my idea changed just to go back full circle at the end. This is a great psychological thriller!

I do not know what I just read, OMG! I had no idea this book was part of a series, but now I know and it will definitely not be my last. I love his writing and Eddy Flynn! This story centers around two sisters involved in an intense courtroom drama. Each sister is accusing each other of the murder of their father, a former NYC mayor. Eddie Flynn defends Sofia, while newcomer Kate Brooks represents Alexandra. As the case unfolds, one sister is revealed to be a cold, calculating killer seeking a $49 million inheritance. Told through multiple perspectives—including the unnamed guilty sister—the story keeps readers guessing with constant twists. Overall, it's a gripping and entertaining addition to the series. FIVE intense STARS! Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy.

Thank you Atria and Netgalley for this ARC! Two sisters are blaming each other for the gruesome murder of their father. Who really did it? Successful Alexandra or her troubled sister Sofia? As Eddie defends Sofia, newbie lawyer Kate defends Alexandra and both of them are up against the new jerk of a DA. So which sister did this? As the trial unravels so does all the cover ups, nothing is as it seems. Great Eddie Flynn story with non stop surprises and heartbreak!

I love Steve Cavanagh and his Eddie Flynn series. I didn’t realize this was a re-release of an older book and so I read this shortly after reading Witness 8 and was confused for a minute. This was an intriguing story about two sisters both accused of murdering their father. This one was a bit more procedural than some his others, but I still very much enjoyed it. The pacing was great and kept me engaged and eager to find out what happens the entire time. And I love a good twist! I would definitely recommend this book for any fans of his or anyone who loves a good thriller! Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for allowing me and ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was SO good! While reading, there was a few moments where I was genuinely scared to keep reading because I was nervous about what was coming but I couldn’t put it down!!
I went back and forth on what I thought the main plot twist was for the entire book and I was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong. The character development was perfect. Chefs kiss !

Loved this one! Steve is becoming a favorite of mine since last year. This book is in a series - they can be read as stand alone’s but it’s fun to see recurring characters.

I couldn’t stop reading to see if I was right. I thought I had this one figured out, but nope 😂

A father is dead and the sisters are blaming each other. Who should we believe?? Loved the court room scenes on this one.

Cannot wait to read the next one now.

Thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for my advanced e copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I have been working my way through the Eddie Flynn series by Steve Cavanagh and I am blown away by his clever writing and the twists laced throughout that you don't see coming. Without fail, Flynn always manages to prove the impossible in the courtroom and this series is entertaining from start to finish.

In Fifty Fifty, two sisters are on trial for the murder of their father. Both have physical evidence and 911 calls from the scene against them, accusing the other of being the guilty party. Flynn represents one sister while a rookie lawyer represents the other, and we watch the trial unfold throughout the pages. The book leaves you guessing who the guilty sister is, with twists and turns that keep you on your toes until the very end.

Cavanagh's writing is unlike any other. He is brilliant and clever and I cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

Fifty Fifty is one of those psychological courtroom thrillers that hooks you from the very first 911 call and keeps the tension high all the way to the final twist. The premise is brilliant: two sisters, Alexandra and Sofia, are on trial for the murder of their father. Each says the other did it. Both seem believable. Only one is telling the truth.

Steve Cavanagh really knows how to craft a story that keeps you guessing. Just when I thought I had it figured out, a new reveal would throw everything into question. The pacing is spot on, the courtroom scenes are gripping, and the back-and-forth between the sisters and their attorneys adds so much depth and suspense.

This is my second book I've read by Steve Cavanagh and I didn't even realize it was part of a series but what a masterclass in writing a twisty and engaging legal thriller!

This is the first book I have read by Steve Cavanagh, this is part of a series, but I was able to understand what was going on. I also don’t normally go for legal thrillers. I was drawn to this book by the cover, then I read the synopsis and thought I might like this one. Despite all odds being against this book because of my personal preference, I did enjoy it! Eddie Flynn is a great character, I also usually don’t like the male POV, so it says a lot that I liked this book. I really liked that this book was split up into 5 parts, each part was fantastic. I definitely think others would enjoy this book and even if it’s not your normal go-to, you might still like it!

Such a unique storytelling method. Truly a fifty fifty shot at guessing the killer!

This was a wild ride and one I couldn’t get enough of. The multiple POVs and look inside the killers view was astounding and Cavanaugh was masterful in keeping the reader guessing.

I will be back for more Eddie Flynn!

Special thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for the ARC ahead of the paperback publication.

Fifty Fifty is a psychological courtroom thriller that grabs you from the very first chilling 911 call and doesn’t let go until the final jaw-dropping twist. Two sisters, Alexandra and Sofia, stand trial for the brutal murder of their father. Each blames the other. Both sound convincing. One is lying.

Steve Cavanagh delivers a brilliantly constructed narrative that keeps readers constantly second-guessing. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, a new revelation sends your theory spiraling. The tension is razor-sharp, the courtroom drama is intense, and the pacing is near perfection. The dual perspectives of the sisters and defense attorneys add depth and suspense, making every chapter a new puzzle piece in an impossible jigsaw.

This book drove me absolutely insane—in the best way. I changed my mind about the killer at least ten times. The clues are clever, the red herrings are infuriatingly believable, and the ending? Let’s just say I never saw it coming.

If you love thrillers that mess with your head and keep your heart racing, Fifty Fifty is a must-read. Steve Cavanagh is a master of the legal thriller, and this book is a shining example of his craft. Five stars, hands down.

A Gripping, Fast-Paced Legal Thriller That Kept Me Guessing Until the End!

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is an absolutely gripping ride from start to finish. The story centers on two sisters, Alexandria and Sofia Avellino, both accusing each other of murdering their powerful father. The twist? One of them is lying and it’s up to the courtroom (and readers!) to figure out which one.

This book moves at lightning speed, with short chapters and rotating perspectives that make it nearly impossible to put down. I had to know which sister did it. I just knew I was right… but wow, was I wrong. Cavanagh masterfully weaves red herrings, psychological insight, and legal drama into a story that kept me second-guessing my instincts the entire time.

The courtroom scenes were some of the best I’ve read: tense, smart, and totally engaging. Eddie Flynn is quickly becoming one of my favorite fictional lawyers. I’m officially a fan of the series and can’t wait to dive into more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC. I’m so glad I got the chance to read this!

I hate to say it, I DNF'd this one. I just couldn't get into it or connect with any of the characters.

This is my second book I’ve read in this series, and it was a quick and fun read. Probably not my favorite, but I still had to finish!

This definitely kept me guessing until the end - a good argument could be made for either sister and while I was pretty sure I knew which one was guilty, there would be an argument for the other. Fast paced and probably one of the best court-room dramas I've read. There were a couple things I wanted an explanation for, but overall a pretty quick intriguing read!

This legal thriller centers on two sisters, Alexandra and Sofia Avellino, both accused of their father's brutal murder. Each claims the other is guilty, leading to a courtroom showdown where defense attorneys Eddie Flynn and Kate Brooks represent opposing sides. The narrative unfolds through multiple perspectives, including an anonymous "She," keeping readers guessing until the final pages.

I love a legal thriller, and Eddie Flynn is becoming one of my favorite attorney characters. If you’re a fan of Mickey Haller of Lincoln Lawyer fame, you’ll appreciate this series.

I started with Witness 8, which I raced through, and I believe, Fifty Fifty is one from the backlist that’s getting new life.

This one involves a murder where two sisters stand trial, each blaming the other for the crime. The pacing, storyline, and sometimes absurdity of the characters and/or plot make for a fun ride.

Now I need to go back to the beginning when Eddie’s character is first introduced and go from there.

I really enjoyed this book! This was a multiple POV investigation/courtroom thriller with manipulation, secrets, plotting, suspicion, and tension at its center. So many twists and turns as events played out through the story, making you question everything you thought you knew about what was happening. I thought I had it figured out, but there were some great twists that I didn’t see coming. This was my second Steve Kavanaugh book and it definitely won’t be my last. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

I know this is book five in the Eddie Flynn series but it works as a standalone novel. I personally plan to go back and read the other books in the series because the characters, story, and twisty ending was so fun. Cavanagh creates this grimy noir version of New York city where the lawyers, cops, political officials, and organized crime bosses all have tight connections and secrets. The story focuses on characters in this version of New York that are trying to do better and ensure criminals pay for their crimes. I got Suits vibes from Eddie and his team, the underdogs that have the skills and intelligence to outwit the other players. I found myself on the edge of my seat for the majority of this novel, I was rooting for Eddie and his team to find out which sister was the real killer. Some small critiques that I had was that the pacing felt a bit off at the beginning and middle of the novel. I wish we had more flashbacks of the two sisters as kids to help piece the puzzle together. I plan to pick up an Eddie Flynn novel next time I am looking for a crime thriller.

Unfortunately, this is my least favorite book in the Eddie Flynn series so far. Overall, I really struggled with the pacing. I feel like with these books there is always a moment where you can see things start to unfold and know that you are now in for a really wild ride - whether that be for the last half of the book or the last 25 % of the book. This book was missing that for me. As always the author does the best job with the characters. The more you read them the more you love them. They are the most enjoyable part of the series.
While it is my least favorite - it is still a decent crime/legal thriller and I would recommend this book/series to anyone.
