This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved how the story was presented with the three main points of view. The pacing was great and it was a great thriller who-done-it with many twists throughout the story.
This was my first Steve Cavanagh book and I loved it! This is the fifth book in the Eddie Flynn series, but I read it as a standalone and didn’t feel like there was anything lacking.
Thank you NetGalley for the advance electronic copy of this book! All opinions are my own.

thank you thank you thank you to NetGalley and Atria books for the eARC of Fifty-Fifty! this is one of the best thrillers i have EVER read.
two sisters are put on trial for the murder of their father. both are blaming eachother. who really did it?
something i absolutely loved about this book was the killer’s pov. this book constantly had me second guessing myself trying to figure out who was guilty. it was so carefully written and well thought out. and the twist at the end!!???!?!!!

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is a very highly recommended legal thriller. Atria Books has made a wise choice to re-releasing this excellent series in paperback. (Fifty Fifty was originally published on 9/3/20.) Even though this is the fifth book in the Eddie Flynn series it can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone novel.
Eddie Flynn is a streetwise ex con-artist who is now a defense attorney. A contact at the police station calls him to let him know that he needs to get to the station now. When he arrives the station is pack with lawyers trying to represent either of the potential clients, sisters Alexandra and Sofia Avellino. They are both charged in the murder of their father, Frank Avellino, former NYC mayor who is worth an estimated 50 million dollars. The sisters both called 911 almost simultaneously, blaming the other for their father's murder. One or both of them is a killer.
Eddie ends up representing Sophia with assistance from ex-FBI agent Harper and retired judge Harry Ford. Alexandra is represented by new lawyer, Kate Brooks, who took over the case out from under her former firm, Levy, Bernard and Groff. Kate is assisted by her friend ex-NYPD friend Melissa Bloch. The prosecutor, Dreyer, plans to try the sisters together.
Fifty Fifty is exceptionally well-written, expertly plotted, intelligent, twisty, and wildly entertaining legal thriller! A nail-biting warning may be in order too, as the tension remains high throughout and the pace is lightning fast. The narrative is presented in five parts and told through the alternating point-of-view of Eddie, Kate, and "She," one of the sisters who is obviously a killer. You won't know the truth until the very end, which will shock you.
This one is a real page turner as it it impossible to predict what is going to happen next. It is a pleasure to watch Eddie and the team work and this is the book where Kate and Bloch are introduce into the series. All of the characters in the series are written as unique, realistic individuals with strengths and weaknesses.
Fifty Fifty is a perfect choice for those who enjoy legal thrillers. Thanks to Atria Books for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.
The review will be published on Edelweiss, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Steve Cavanagh knocked it out of the park in this fast-paced legal thriller. It begins with the jury having made their decision on a murder trial in an unbelievable 48 minutes, followed by the frantic 911 call transcripts that introduce our two suspects. I DEVOURED this book sneaking in time to read before work and staying up late after 12-hour shifts to try to just get a few more pages in. Here’s the premise: two sisters both make a 911call within a minute of each other claiming the other has murdered their father, who happens to be the former mayor of New York City. We get the point of views from Eddie Flynn - Sofia’s lawyer, Kate Brooks who is representing Alexandra and “She” the point of view of the sister who committed the murder. From there the race is on to try to figure out which sister is guilty, and which one is innocent. The twists in this book are fantastic and kept me guessing. When I would decide one sister was guilty, some clue or twist would come along that took me back to having no idea! I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, but this book is able to be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel I was missing anything or confused from not reading the previous books. This book was a solid 5 star read, and has me ready to read the previous books, just to get more of Steve Cavanagh’s fantastic writing and stay in Eddie Flynn’s world a little longer.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the digital arc of this phenomenal book!

A fast-paced popcorn thriller. Good for a quick-read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy.

Eddie Flynn once again finds himself the lawyer for a client who has all the evidence in the world stacked against her, but he cannot turn away an innocent woman. He's got to find a way to destroy the prosecution's theory.
Steve Cavanagh has done it again. Another book you can't put down that ends with you being diźy from all the twists. Such a fantastic story!!

Eddie Flynn is back and on a new case. This time, Eddie is called after the murder of the former mayor of New York is murdered and the suspect is one of, if not both, of his daughters. Alexandra is the daughter that has her life together. Sofia is the daughter with addiction and mental health issues. Both daughters have had a rough past and they hate each other. Both doted on their father until he was murdered. Both are also highly highly suspicious and likely highly skilled at lying. So which one murdered their father? The way Eddie sees it there’s a fifty fifty chance.
This series truly gets better and better with each book. So now I have a new favorite. Quick, fun reads with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC! On to the next one!

What a ride! I already knew I liked this authors writing, but a crime novel made me skeptical. He hit this one out of the park. I was completely fooled and had my mind blown reading this. Loved it! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

I love a good courtroom mystery and this one definitely kept me hooked. I haven't read the series start to finish but I definitely want to read more after reading this one!

Thank you for giving me the chance to read this arc ! This is my first Steve Cavanagh book and I’m absolutely hooked from now on ! I was of the edge on my seat throughout the whole book !

4.5 stars rounded up. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. Such a fantastic book! I am a huge fan of the Eddie Flynn series, and this book did not disappoint. Be ready to go on a roller coaster ride as two sisters each accuse the other of being the one to kill their father in a very gruesome and violent death. We start the book with the 911 calls and things heat up from there. I love how careful the author was in writing the book so that as the reader, we are constantly trying to guess which sister did it and which one is innocent. There is a lot of violence in this book, but it is handled well. We also get to meet some new characters who are going to continue to be a part of the series, including a precious dog! If you like courtroom drama, edge of your seat action, and a satisfying mystery along with characters that you love spending more time with, then this is the book for you. Highly recommend!

This is book 5 in the Eddie Flynn series. I have not read this series straight through. In fact this is only my second book in the series, my first was WITNESS 8. But I can honestly say I'm not a big fan. If you enjoy Legal Thrillers, you gotta grab this book or any in this series. I was pulled in right away. The plot was tense and suspenseful. I truly had no idea which sister was actually guilty. Love that. Kept me on my toes the whole time. The courtroom drama was excellent. There were some shocking twists that totally caught me by surprise. I can't wait to read more books in the series!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

Two sisters find their father’s mutilated body. Both sisters without the other sister’s knowledge call the police. Each sister blames the other. They are forced to do a joint trial. Which one is the murderer?
I was on the edge of my seat and devoured this book. Of course, I choose the wrong sister. I’m ready for the next book in the series!
Thank you to Steve Cavanagh, Atria Books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

♟️Two sisters on trial for murder, and they accuse the other of murdering their father. Who do you believe?
This is the second book I've read from this author, and dang, he's good!!! You think you know who it is, but then you change your mind as the novel progresses...and soon, you realize you don't know who it could possibly be; I loved how the "SHE" chapters gave you the killers' POV. Steve Cavanagh is a master of writing these courtroom investigative mysteries, and he puts so much thought into each and every step of the journey. Definitely lots of suspense and twists that keep you reading (I couldn't put this down!) as well as great character development for Eddie and his growing circle of friends.
🔪It IS a legal thriller so it’s not for the squeamish. I WAS a little confused on some parts - if this is a murder trial, wouldn't the two sisters (the defendants are both possible suspects) have someone with them the whole time, or at least guarding or monitoring them? I feel like they are left alone quite a lot, leaving it open for the real killer to do whatever they wanted. I'm not sure how that works in the real world, but it would seem unwise for an otherwise super intelligent team of people. I do love how Eddie and Kate, though they are serving opposite defendants, how they both are motivated to do the right thing. I loved the resolutions at the end too!
🔎Like his other books, you could read this as a standalone, but there are elements here and there sprinkled throughout that makes me want to read the other books so I can see a wider expanse of Eddie Flynn's life. I think the only solution is to pick up more Eddie Flynn books! I seriously think these would make an amazing TV series. 📺

Eddie Flynn is most definitely one of my favorite characters.. This was a very gripping court-room drama that had me at the edge of my seat!!! It was full of suspense and I was so engaged with all the twists and turns!!!
Thank you Atria and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!!!

Steve Cav has done it again…I absolutely devoured this book and it kept me on the EDGE of my seat! His writing is so good that I spent almost the entire book ping ponging back and forth between which sister was the culprit. I kept thinking “is this a real clue? Or does he WANT me to think that?” 🧐😂 He added the bad sister’s POV but titled it “She” so that the reader could get into the mind of this EVIL as heck woman. So unique, and added an extra eerie and unique dimension to the plot.
This was like watching an episode of Law & Order or Criminal Minds, but with an ex con artist lawyer. Eddie Flynn is one of my favorite characters ever, he is smart, clever, sharp, and witty. I loved him in this book & in Witness 8, and cannot wait to continue his adventures in the rest of this series.
Also the ending that wraps up the side issue in the story…*chef’s kiss* I was punching my fist in the air I was so happy!
If you love legal shows, you’ll love this book/series!
Thank you @atriabooks @atriathrillers for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!

Steve Cavanagh does it again! My favorite Eddie Flynn book to date for sure. It is GRIPPING, fast paced, tense, and TWISTY!!! Not only did I feel like I was in the courtroom, but I also got the satisfaction of seeing some deplorable characters get their justice. I really hope a few stories involving Kate show up in the future.
Absolutely loved it and will be recommending to EVERYONE!
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC.

Two sisters each find their father, murdered, and call 911 - on each other. There’s evidence against both of them, and it’s clear one of them did it. Who is the killer, and who’s being framed?
The murder trial is the central focus of the story, and the chapters from the perspective of “She” give the reader insight into the mind of the killer without giving anything away. I truly did not know who the killer was until the very end, and I had so many theories along the way. It was a thrill to try to piece together the puzzle and every time I thought I had it figured out, a new piece of information came along to upend everything.
This is the 5th book in a series, so while the story worked well as a standalone, I did feel like I was lacking a little bit of background on the lawyer, Eddie, and his crew. I may have had stronger feelings about what happened to them if I had read the first few books. However, the murder plot is self-contained, so you won’t be missing any valuable information for the primary storyline, even if you haven’t read the rest of the series.

Read this if: you enjoy twisty plots and courtroom drama - Two sisters claim the other one committed the crime against their Dad but who did it?

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanaugh
Rating: 5 stars
Pub date: 6/3
Thank you so much to Atria Books for my free book!
I have slowly been making my way through The Eddie Flynn series, out of order, and I am really enjoying it!
Fifty Fifty has an intense premise: two sisters, Alexandra and Sofia, each call 911 claiming to have found their father's mutilated body, and both say the other did it. What follows is a wild ride through a joint murder trial, where one sister is clearly lying, but figuring out who is half the fun.
I was completely hooked from the first page! Every time I thought I had it figured out, a new twist would throw me off. Both sisters are so well written. They’re complex, a little unsettling, and totally believable. You want to trust them, but you can’t quite get there, which makes it all the more gripping.
The pacing was perfect, and I flew through the chapters because I had to know the truth. The courtroom scenes were sharp and full of tension, and the ending was super satisfying without feeling too neat or predictable. If you’re into twisty thrillers that mess with your head, definitely give this one a shot!
