Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh, a great read that pulls you in and makes you want to keep reading. Cavanagh always delivers for me and this one was no exception.

Fantastic. Edge of your seat. So invested in the characters from the start. Can’t wait to read more about Flynn. I’m a fan now!

I've only ever read one other book from this series but I have to say, this author always hits it out of the park. An intricately woven plot kept me on the edge of my seat and I'm embarrassed to admit that I got the murderer all wrong. Each of the characters were well developed and given enough space in the story so the reader felt a connection. The courtroom testimonies were riveting and I was frantically turning the pages to find out the jury verdict.
I am immediately going to borrow the other books in this series from my local library.

Fifty Fifty by Steven Cavanagh
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fifty Fifty was the very first book I read by Steven Cavanagh. I remember reading the blurb and I had to get my hands on a copy of it. I was able to order it from the UK back in 2020. Two phone calls are placed to 911 reporting that their dad is dead. Both sisters are saying the other is the killer. One is a liar and a killer. This was such a fast paced suspense thriller with court room drama. So many twists that I don’t see coming and did not know which sister to believe. Even though this is book 5 of 9 in a series (I didn’t know when I purchased) this was still phenomenal as a standalone. Since then I have read more in the series and his newer novels. When I received the ebook ARC from @NetGalley, I was thrilled to be able to review this. @sscav is an auto-buy author for me! If you love court room dramas, suspense thrillers with twists that have your jaw drop, this is the book for you! Fifty Fifty is currently available as of June 3 in the US.

Always love a Steve Cavanagh. This one had great characters and an uncertainty that kept you guessing the whole time.

If you enjoy a thriller that you can be totally baffled by but not too fast paced that your brain spins, this is the one.
Lawyers, two sisters accused of murder, investigators, crooked judicial officials, and more.
Two sisters call 911 on each other, both stating that the other killed their father. Defense lawyers clamor to support the well put together sister who has it all, while only a few are willing to go to bat for the broken and disturbed sister.
Evidence is mounting, both sets of lawyers having investigators dig into the case and surrounding people, and witnesses who turn up dead in calculating murders.
As the evidence and trial goes on, the reader will waffle between supporting one or the other sister. There is so much conflicting information, not to mention the politics of the courtroom.
The story is constantly evolving and the twists are baffling.
So...who dun it??

Fifty Fifty opens with two 911 calls. Two sisters on the phone calling to report their father's murder. Both sisters accusing the other one of the murder. Eddie Flynn, the con artist turned lawyer, is hired by one of the sisters, believing her to be innocent. Kate, an associate at a high powered law firm, helps take on the defense of the other sister, believing her to be innocent. So begins a complex match between the lawyers against each other and the State. But they do not know what sister committed this crime, and that this plan has been in the works for years. As bodies begin to pile up and the end of the trial draws near, Eddie will have to figure out the truth of the murder.
Fifty Fifty is my favorite of the Eddie Flynn books so far. Steve Cavanagh creates a great central mystery, showing so many cards throughout the book while holding the final twists off for the end. Kate and Eddie have a great dynamic as opposing lawyers who both believe they are doing the right thing for their client. This book also had more legal issues with many discussions about the complexities and dangers of a joint trial and the trial took up nearly the entire second half, so I loved that. The Eddie Flynn series is great overall but Fifty Fifty is a high point of the series with a solid balance of thrills and legal complexities that made for a great ride.
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for a copy of Fifty Fifty in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ARC. I absolutely enjoyed myself reading this book. Steve Cavanagh books never disappoint and this book was definitely no different!

I love Steve Cavanagh, and Fifty Fifty is no exception. It's page turning, it's wild, and shocking. I don't have much else to say other than this should be on your TBR.

Fifty Fifty is a fast-paced legal thriller with an incredibly unique premise. Two sisters accuse each other of their father’s brutal murder, and only one is telling the truth. The courtroom drama is gripping, and the suspense kept me guessing the whole way through. I loved the twists and the way the story kept unfolding in unexpected ways. Some parts felt a little repetitive, but overall, it was a smart and addictive read that had me hooked. If you’re into legal thrillers with a psychological edge, this one’s worth picking up!

This book kept me guessing until the very last page! Although there were a few things I didn’t particularly, mostly with the narrative, I am definitely looking forward to reading more books by the author.

My first Steve Cavanagh read after hearing so much about his books. Sadly this one didn’t work for me. I expected to be flipping pages as it states in the beginning that you will be questioning each sister and believing both to have your head spin which is my kind of book typically. This was anything but for me. I confused the lawyers and other police personnel since there were so many. Didn’t really care for any of the characters. It was hard to get through is all I can say. Definitely not a page turner as I envisioned.
Thank you to Atria and NetGalley for the opportunity!

Loved this book!! My new favorite author. The characters were clever, the action nonstop, the plot had lots of twists. A great summer read and I liked this so much I’m reading the next one by this author. If you like Reacher and other murder mysteries, you’ll love Eddie! Fun and exciting.

Two 911 calls from two sisters claiming the other murdered their father. One is telling the truth. The other is a killer.
I loved this premise. Take my rating with a grain of salt because I'm starting to realize that crime fiction isn't my favorite. Most of the book takes place in the courtroom. Not a lot happens. And the "twist" was pretty expected. I really think that if you like crime fiction, you'll love this one.

Ohhh boy. This book kept me guessing until the very end. It definitely lived up to its title as I was 50-50 on who the killer was.

When two sisters are found in their murdered father's house while the body is still warm, the question arises about who did it. They were both there. They both called 911. And they hate each other. The book is mostly written from the points of view of the lawyers who have chosen to defend them and who each think that their client is innocent. But the thing is, they didn't do it together. So one of them is lying and playing the long game. But which sister is it?
There are a couple of chapters that get into the killer's head without giving anything away. There are small clues that are mentioned here and there that alternately make you think that it's one sister and then the other. The DA doesn't really care as long as someone pays for it. So they might as well flip a coin.

This one was just okay for me, I read it a few months back and honestly I couldn't tell you anything about it. So clearly it wasn't very memorable, however it was an entertaining time, but I think that this author does not write things that keep me invested after the book is over.
Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for my early e-arc.

Many thanks to Atria Books for the gifted physical copy of Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh and to NetGalley for the gifted kindle copy. I enjoyed reading on both formats. All opinions are my own.
This was really good! It kept me guessing and had me stumped for a bit there. I love a book where you feel you can’t trust anyone and your mind changes 10 different times deciding the whodunnit of it all. The title was so fitting for this book because I too felt a fifty fifty split of who the culprit was.
A father murdered and his two daughters on trial for his murder. When the murder took place in his home a man Frank Avelino’s two daughters Sofia and Alexandra each called 911 from the home accusing the other of brutally murdering their father.
I love a procedural / legal thriller. I enjoyed seeing both of the lawyers points of views and how the case was built for each sister. It can go either way. Fifty fifty which daughter is it?

I wanted to like this book based on the cover and other books I have read with this author, but this book was not for me.

Thank you @atriabooks for my complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Which sister is the ultimate liar?
MY THOUGHTS: This one literally kept me guessing from start to finish! It begins with the eerie murder scene, two 911 calls, and two sisters accusing each other of the brutal murder of their father. The story unfolds through the multiple perspectives, including the altering viewpoints of the sisters, with chapters by SHE, the murderer. The body count rises as SHE is forced to eliminate anyone who might know the truth. Full of family dynamics, legal drama, and surprising twists, this is the perfect summer thriller! Now I need to read this author’s backlist!
