I just finished Fifty-Fifty by Steve Cavanagh, and wow—this one kept me hooked from start to finish. It’s the fifth book in the Eddie Flynn series, but you don’t really need to have read the others to dive in. The plot centers around two sisters, both accusing each other of murdering their powerful father, and from the very start, you’re left wondering who’s telling the truth.
Eddie Flynn, the main character, is a former conman turned lawyer, and he's just such a fun, sharp character to follow. He’s defending one of the sisters, Sofia, while another lawyer, Kate, is representing the other. The story jumps between their perspectives and even includes a creepy anonymous voice that adds a whole extra layer of suspense.
Cavanagh’s writing is super engaging, and the twists are relentless—in a good way. I was constantly second-guessing everyone, which I loved. That said, some of the plot twists were a bit much at times and made it tough to figure things out on your own, but honestly, that didn’t take away from the fun.
Overall, it’s a fast-paced, cleverly plotted legal thriller. If you're into courtroom drama with a psychological edge, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a go.

A fantastic read. This one keeps you guessing until the very end. It’s easy to think you know what’s going on and then have it shift completely a few chapters later. Well written, great characters and one that will keep you reading long past bedtime.

This book follows two sisters who have both been accused of murdering their father- and one of them is guilty.
I was completely intrigued by the premise and hooked for about the first 75% of the book. The author drops little hints that keep you wondering which sister is the killer while also working in some surprisingly scary scenes. Unfortunately, the book lost steam toward the end, and the actual reveal felt pretty predictable. Still, it was an enjoyable read that I found myself thinking about after finishing it, so while I will subtract a star for a disappointing ending, I still recommend the book to anyone who enjoys a thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publishers for allowing me to read this ARC.

The premise of this book hooked me and I enjoyed reading Kill for Me, Kill for You last year so I was eager to dive into this book. However, I was immediately pummeled in the head with the author’s political viewpoint and subsequently saw God and Jesus’ names in vain repeatedly. I kept going a little longer, but found the writing to be lacking. This is a DNF for me, unfortunately.
Thank you to the publisher for an e-ARC via NetGalley.

Thank you net galley first this ARC in exchange for my honest opinions
Ugh I just don't know how I feel about this one. I'm kind of disappointed. I recently read another book by this author and really loved it so I had high expectations for this but it fell flat. Any time I picked this book up I found myself bored every handful of pages and put it down.
It took honestly 50% to get into this story. The build up was slow and felt like alot of fluff for insights to things we didn't need. And then when you get to the actual trial I felt like we got the bare minimum of what there could have been.
I wish this had had more drama between the sisters and more umph towards the end

I'm a huge Cavanagn fan. I love reading his books. Their pace, twistiness and characters always keep me hooked. The premise of this story was really intriguing with the two sisters both blaming each other but my favorite characters were the adult women. This book introduces Kate and she is kick-ass.
Even though there are many twists and turns in this story, for some reason the ending wasn't all that shocking to me. But the best part was all the courtroom drama. The dialogue, the cleverness that keeps making me come back for more.
I can't wait for more Eddie Flynn.
with gratitude to netgalley and Atria Books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review

I was immediately hooked by the premise and enjoyed the overall storyline, but a few things distracted me from the book and I didn't enjoy it as much as I feel I could have.
I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style and had trouble distinguishing the characters because they all sounded similar. There wasn't a lot of description in some scenes so they sometimes felt "empty," like my mind had to fill in the blanks a lot. I also didn't like that every (rich, white) man was an asshole. I don't know if that's really how it is for women working in the legal system, but it felt like overkill to me.
I liked the quick pace and figuring out whodunit. But I think I would have liked the story more if it had been a movie.
Thank you to Atria Books for this ARC!

Fifty Fifty is the story of 2 sisters accused of murdering their father. The author keeps you guessing throughout the story as to who the real murderer is.

And the hits keep coming for the Cavanagh Eddie Flynn series!!
Another really good, suspense filled Flynn story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Alexandra and Sofia are sisters who both call 911 when they find their father murdered.
The twist is that they each accuse the other of being the killer and initial forensics point to
each of them.
Eddie is hired by Sofia to defend her and the story takes off from there.
Murder, thrills and non stop intrigue follow ad the case goes to trial and Eddie
fights to secure an acquittal for his client.
Once again, Cavanagh manages to grab that golden ring.
Great read.
Impatiently now awaiting Eddie's next case.

My thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for an advance copy of this book.
I absolutely love the Eddie Flynn series! So fast paced and fun!

I really liked this book. Multiple POVs and two possible killers who are sisters is such a good premise. But at times I felt there were unnecessary backstories, descriptions and repititions

I’ve been reading the Eddie Flynn series totally out of order. Out of nine books, I’ve now read four of them. The good news is that each works well as a stand-alone. These are always books with an interesting premise encased in a well done legal procedural.
This time, a man has been brutally murdered. Each of his two daughters calls 911, blaming the other for the crime. Who to believe? Eddie represents the daughter with the troubled past - psychiatric issues, drugs, rehab, trouble holding down a job. The other daughter is polished and successful.
In addition to the sections from Eddie’s POV and that of Kate, a lawyer on the sister’s team, we are also privy to the thoughts of the murderer. But we don’t know which sister that is. And trust me, I kept volleying back and forth as to who was the murderer.
This is a fast paced story. There are multiple twists and a great ending. It’s a violent story and not for the faint of heart. Cavanagh does a good job with character development and I really enjoyed the additions of Kate and Bloch. And, of course, Clarence!
My thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for an advance copy of this book.

I am so excited this is getting published in the US! After Th1rt3en hit big, years ago, I was dying to read Fifty Fifty but couldn’t get my hands on a copy. A bookish friend even ordered it from England and set up a book train, but it fizzled out before the book made it to me. Now, at last, I’ve finally read it!
This is the Eddie Flynn series at it's peak. It was just as good as I hoped it would be. It's probably a good thing it's been awhile since I've read other books in the series, because it had some twists that surely reverberate into subsequent books, but surprised me. (What happened to Harper, specifically.)
If you’re anything like me and can’t resist a sharp procedural with clever twists and great characters, go ahead and preorder Fifty Fifty. You won’t regret it.

I just love Steve Cavanagh. He doesn’t write one bad book! Atria re-publishing some of the Eddie Flynn novels is one of the smartest decisions Atria has made with their publishing house!!
Eddie Flynn takes on a new client, Sofia Avellino. Alexandra and Sofia are both on trial for the brutal murder of their father. Frank, an old Mayor for New York City, was stabbed fifty-three times. Both sisters made 911 calls that night separately. Which sister did it? Will you be able to guess?
No other lawyer will ever compare to Flynn’s brilliance!! Eddie’s shark moves and con experience even elevate his skills in the courtroom. He’s funny as hell too! An UNPUTDOWNABLE legal thriller that is sure to entertain!

I enjoyed this for the most part but felt like I wasn't as surprised by the twists as I'd hoped for. Overall, a solid thriller if you're looking for a fun, easy read.

I was IMMEDIATELY hooked by this premise. A man is dead. His daughters both call 911 from inside the house, and BOTH claim their sister murdered their father...but one of them is lying.

If there is one thing you should know about it me is it that I loooooove a lying unreliable narrator and it just does not get more unreliable than this narrative. We already know someone is lying, but we get to see the truth happen without a name to it. This book is told from 3 POVs. Sofia's defense attorney, Alexandra's defense attorney, and the truth from the sister who was the murderer (labeled as "SHE"). I am not exaggerating when I say my heart was RACING throughout this book, these sisters made me NERVOUS. My apple watch asked if I was okay. I read this not knowing it was part of a series, but at no point did I feel lost. I think I would have understood some relationships on a deeper level but it is not at all necessary to start at the beginning of the series.

This book was a boxing match. You don't know who to believe and the punches just keep coming. I will be reading more of this author ASAP

Two sister both call 911 to report the murder of their father, but both say the other did it! Who can we believe? Who is lying? Will the real killer be convicted?
This was a fast-paced mystery and legal thriller. Fair warning, it was more violent/gore-filled than previous Eddie Flynn novels, but that was not a problem for me. The story hooks you in immediately and kept me flipping pages to see what would happen next. The mystery was complex and had a satisfying ending. Fans of courtroom dramas and domestic thrillers will enjoy this novel.
I loved it and will continue to read more in this series!

Two sisters accuse each other of murdering their father. Who really did it? This story is told from the point of view of each of the sisters' lawyers, Eddie and Kate, and a third unnamed point of view, "She," aka the real killer. This book has some entertaining parts and some slow bits. I stayed invested because I knew there was going to be a twist. I honestly don't think much of this story was realistic, but for a quick detective/courtroom drama I went with it. I don't usually find much depth in characters in this type of book. I'm sure it's tricky for a male author to write so many female characters, but some of the dialogue, descriptions, and mannerisms of Alexandra, Sofia, and Kate were pretty stereotypical and surface level. This book was entertaining but just ok for me. Kill For Me, Kill For You is still my gold star Cavanagh book.

This is the fifth book of the Eddie Flynn series, but it could easily be read as a stand-alone. I'd only read one other book from this series, and I was able to follow along fine.
Frank Avellino is dead. The prime suspects? His daughters, Alexandra and Sofia. Both daughters are accused of murder. The question is, who is the guilty one?
The book is written from several different viewpoints; the defense attorneys Kate and Eddie, along with the most fascinating viewpoint being from "She." The reader is left to speculate the identity of "She."
As the trial progresses, more and more people wind up dead. Is there a serial killer on the loose?? Just when you think you have it all figured out, a twist comes that you never expected.
This is a must-read for people who enjoy courtroom/legal dramas. I can't wait to dive in and read the next book in the series!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

I solely was drawn in my the title, synopsis and cover and it delivered. I was unaware that it was a rerelease and part of a series but that did not matter at all. My favorite chapters were the 'She' chapters, they were violent and gritty and I loved being inside her head and thoughts. You can kind of figure this out come the court hearings if you really attempt to but there are good twists and turns that make you doubt everything and both girls. I really enjoyed my time with it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for an ARC of this book. I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
