I didn't realize Steve Cavanagh played ball. Because he knocked this one out of the park!!
Fifty Fifty is a compelling story about two sisters who couldn't be more different. One is a cunning killer. The other is an innocent bystander. Both are pointing the finger at each other when their father is brutally killed. Now they are both on trial for murder. Who is guilty and who is innocent?
I really enjoyed this one by Mr. Cavanagh. His Eddie Flynn series is consistently great and keeps getting better with each book.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I would suggest this book for my older students. I think they would enjoy the mystery part of it and also a look at how the legal systems works as part of the book takes place in a trial. There were sections that were gory, in particular the sections told by the murder "she". Overall an interesting story, strong characters and easy to get involved with.

Two sisters with a long standing hatred of each other and their very wealthy father murdered by one of them. Eddie Flynn takes on the case of one of them, he only represents people he believes are innocent. Corrupt judges, correct prosecutors, Eddies associate and a determined defense attorney for the other sister, populate the main characters in this story. A fast read, a suspenseful read and a satisfying conclusion. 4.5 rounded up

Steve Cavanaugh has quickly become a must read author for me. I was introduced to him through one of his standalone novels, which I devoured. Once I discovered this legal series that follows Eddie Flynn, I can’t get through the books fast enough. He writes quality thrillers that are engaging and not filled with fluff just to meet a word count.

Cavanaugh has a way of writing that immediately gets the reader engaged. Fifty Fifty requires the reader to determine which sister is a murderer. It is written in multiple perspectives, with the murderer simply being “She.” As I read the “She” perspective, I tried to determine if I was reading Sophia’s perspective, or Alexandra’s. I went back and forth a couple times. You will fly through this fast pace thriller!

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC train for my honest review.

Steve is one of my favorite mystery writers! This book does not disappoint. The characters are so well developed. Keeps you guessing to the end

Two sisters accuse each other of killing their father but who actually killed him? When I saw what this book was about I immediately added to my TBR and once I started reading it I could not stop. This book will have you shaking your head and guessing right up until the very end. Some may find this one a little predictable but I didn't guess the end so I was glad for that. I'd like to elaborate but really can't without giving spoilers so I'll just say this book was a fun, fast paced, murder mystery!

Although I have read Steve's work before, I had not read any of the books in the Eddie Flynn series and now I definitely want to read more.

Thanks NetGalley and Atria books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. I do enjoy the Eddie Flynn series, but this is one of my favourites. I really had no idea where this book was going. It can be quite graphic at times, but it’s also very edge-of-your-seat reading. It kept me hooked to the very end. Definitely check this book out when it’s released in June 2025.

Book #5 of the Eddie Flynn series. It starts out with a bang - two sisters accuse each other of murdering their father. Their separate defense try and prove each of their clients innocence through a bunch of twists. This series is strong and this is another good installment. 3.75 stars, rounded up.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

Captivating mystery where two sisters are defending themselves, with separate lawyers against the charge of (either individually or jointly) viciously murdering their wealthy father, right before he is scheduled to change his will.

Interesting court room drama with the bodies piling up during the case. It underscores that in the United States the best lawyer, the one who puts on the best show, more than a defendant's innocence, it what wins the case.

Talented writing, keeps you reading, however it follows the disturbing prevalent trend of crime dramas where you do not like and of the characters. Could have benefitted from either a compassionate (or at honest) character, with a bit stronger character background development.

I really enjoy Steve Cavanagh’s thrillers. They always have a great twist and a good plot. The whodunit is never who you expect it to be.
There were small plot inconsistencies but nothing outrageous. The photos from photographer’s phone were sent to all of the teams, why would doing anything to the photographer make the photo disappear? Things like that.
But all in all an enjoyable court room drama.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the arc.
I was given an arc and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Steve Cavanaugh has a remarkable talent for crafting a gripping thriller! I found it impossible to set down "Fifty Fifty." The storyline revolves around Eddie Flynn, a former con artist turned attorney, who is defending Sofia against the charge of murdering her father. Meanwhile, Kate, a young and ambitious lawyer, is representing Sofia's sister, Alexandra, who is also implicated in the same crime. The sisters harbor deep animosity towards each other, each blaming the other for their father’s death. This trial is the culmination of a decade’s worth of tension. As the narrative unfolds, additional chilling murders occur, heightening the stakes. Eddie Flynn is a standout protagonist; his compassion and resolve are truly compelling. Kate serves as an excellent supporting character. I rated this book five stars, and it undoubtedly deserves a spot on your "To Be Read" list.

I extend my gratitude to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing the advanced reader copy for review.

I have never read a book where the title is so accurate. Two sisters are on trial for the murder of their father and they're accusing each other. The book opens up with two 911 calls, one for each sister and I've never been so bamboozled by a book in my life. My theories kept flip flopping every chapter. This was my first legal thriller and surprisingly I really enjoyed it, I thought the legal jargon would be too much but it was so interesting to read the entire process of the trial. While this is book #5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

This was a gripping legal thriller that had me hooked from the first chapter. There were tons of twists and jaw dropping moments throughout the book that had me doubting my theories until the very end. The multiple POVs were great as well. I will be checking out the rest of the series!

I read this back in 2022 and remember it being very interesting. I didnt' even know legal thrillers were a thing, but was pleasantly surprised. Steve Cavanagh writes with enough detail to make the plot interesting, but without making it to heavy or difficult to understand for people.

I didn’t realize this was a re-pub when I requested it, but I’m so glad I did! The Eddie Flynn series is something of a treasure. The writing was great & all the characters were so well thought out! I devoured this, especially the “She” chapters! I love that Cavanagh gives us the perspective of the bad guy! Those chapters were so chilling and a lot of fun to read. I’m so glad we got a full circle moment for Kate at the end! I was rooting for her!!!
Overall this was great, I did suspect the “who did it” but when you only have two to choose from, it was a fifty fifty shot (see what I did there).

Fifty Fifty is a book that took me on a rollercoaster ride! It gave me horror and mystery vibes. The book started off very interesting, then took a slow turn, got even more interesting, then a slower turn, and then it had me hooked line and sinker about fifty percent in! The characters were very well developed and I could tell that there was a lot of research that had gone into writing this book. It felt like watching a real life trial, while reading this. The only downside to this story is that I knew who the murderer was throughout most of the book, which took away the mystery aspect of it. It was still an amazing read! This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more!

This book is about two sisters that claim the other one is guilty for the murder of their Father. Both Alexandra and Sofia call 911 around the same time, claiming the other is at fault. The sisters end up going to trial with a jury. However, only one of them is innocent. The content warnings include murder, self harm, violence, death, and grief. Be aware of any triggers and keep yourself well. My rating for this book is 4 out of 5 stars!

Thank you to author Steve Cavanagh, Atria Books publishing via NetGalley for this advanced reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book is set to be published in the U.S. on June 3, 2025!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Fifty Fifty" by Steve Cavanagh is an absolute rollercoaster of a thriller! Just when you think you've figured out who the killer is, another twist throws everything into question. The tension is relentless, the courtroom drama is gripping, and the twists keep coming right up until the final pages. If you love a book that keeps you guessing, this one is a must-read!

4.5⭐️

Wow! I throughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. This was such an interesting story and i truly appreciated the character depth, writing style, and overall plot. I was stunned by the resolution and was kept guessing until the very end! I really enjoyed Kate and Bloch’s relationship in parallel to Eddie and Harry as well!

The changing POVs were so fun and added so much to the story. The anonymity of the sister POV is what truly keeps the suspense and uncertainty going throughout! I definitely enjoyed this story and hope to read more about Eddie Flynn in the future!
