I really enjoyed the first part of this book (but oh boy, this one was violent and bloody and at times hard to read). I felt like it dragged a little bit in the middle, BUT I 100% did not know which sister the murderer was until the very end, and this kept me turning pages.

Steve Cavanagh is just a phenomenal writer. I've read many of his books and none of them EVER miss! Eddie Flynn has my heart, court procedural thrillers are some of my favorites and this series just does it perfectly. Fifty Fifty definitely stayed true to its catchphrases and I really was second guessing myself until the very last pages of the book. I can't wait to read the rest of this series... Steve if you're reading this, can you make it 10+ books please?!

Steve Cavanagh delivers another gripping legal thriller with Fifty Fifty, a fast-paced, high-stakes courtroom drama that keeps readers guessing until the final pages. The novel follows the trial of two sisters, each accusing the other of their father’s brutal murder. As the case unfolds, two defense attorneys—one seasoned and calculating, the other young and determined—race to uncover the truth, knowing that one sister is a manipulative killer while the other is an innocent victim.

The story is expertly crafted, balancing intense courtroom scenes with psychological tension. The alternating perspectives provide insight into both legal strategies and the twisted mind of the true murderer, making for an engaging and suspenseful read. The legal intricacies are well-researched, and the dialogue crackles with authenticity.

While the novel is undeniably compelling, some plot elements feel slightly predictable, and a few twists lean towards the implausible. However, Cavanagh’s skillful storytelling and ability to build tension outweigh these minor drawbacks. The book delivers an exhilarating ride for fans of legal thrillers, crime fiction, and psychological suspense.

Overall, Fifty Fifty is a cleverly constructed and thoroughly entertaining read. Though not without its flaws, it is an excellent addition to the Eddie Flynn series, offering the kind of twisty, adrenaline-fueled storytelling that keeps readers hooked.

Another brilliant book by Steve Cavanagh! I flew through this expertly plotted legal thriller in barely over 24 hours. The premise is amazing, the characters are fabulous and well-developed, and there are plenty of twists you won't see coming. A few of the characters are despicable but at least one of them gets some comeuppance at the end. There was one thing that I had a hard time with though, and that was the bite mark. One of the sisters bit her father on the chest, and not one person so much as raises an eyebrow at this or asks her why. Like it's just a totally normal thing to do so why even wonder about it. That drove me so batty that it actually took away some of my enjoyment from this otherwise highly entertaining story. Luckily the fantastic plot, excellent courtroom scenes and explosive ending more than make up for it. I would highly recommend this book and can't wait to read more by this author!

A perfect whodunnit! Steve Cavanagh is a master at courtroom mysteries. Alexandra or Sofia? Two sisters on trial, who is the killer? This book will keep you guessing until the very end.

Fifty Fifty will grab you from the first page and won’t let go until you have witnessed brutal murder scenes, exciting legal maneuvers, and the verdict. There are two sisters, a brutally murdered father and each sister accusing the other of the murder. This book will have you wondering every other page who is lying and who is telling the truth. The fact that I really liked both lawyers made me want to believe that neither sister was guilty. While this book is part of the Eddie Flynn series it is easily read as a stand-alone.

I didn’t originally realize this was a republication but I have to admit that the publisher is killing it with this new cover, it is so pretty and definitely what originally drew me to the book (outside of the tempting synopsis and author name of course).

This is my third book by the author and he definitely loves to keep you on your toes with a multiple twist situation.

The plot follows two sisters who are both found at the scene of a murder and both point the finger at the other “she did it” “no she did it”! Which one do you believe? Who looks the most guilty and how do we tell who is lying?

You definitely just have to give this a read for yourself, I will say that at times there was just a lot going on it could get difficult to keep up with all the drama, however the whole thing did wind down with a satisfying ending.

Thank you to Atria books and Steve Cavanagh for the EARC!

3.5 stars

First off, the premise is *chef’s kiss*: two sisters, both accused of murdering their dad, and only one can be guilty. The catch? They’re pointing fingers at each other like it’s a dramatic Thanksgiving showdown.

Eddie Flynn is our slick lawyer hero who’s got more charm than a high school crush (you know, the one with the motorcycle and the bad decisions). Cavanagh hooks you right in with this twisted “she did it—no, SHE did it” vibe.

Sometimes the plot twists felt like Cavanagh was trying to juggle too many knives, and one or two clattered to the floor. I adore a good shock, but a couple left me squinting like, “Wait, what now?” And the sisters? Fierce, yes, but I wanted to crawl inside their heads a teensy bit more.

Still, I’d recommend Fifty Fifty to anyone who loves a thriller with brains and a dash of pizzazz.

This is my second Steve Cavanaugh (and second Eddie Flynn) novel and despite reading them totally out of order, I am in LOVE. Eddie Flynn is an amazing character, very Saul Goodman, and I have absolutely devoured both of the ones I’ve read so far.

I have stayed away from legal thrillers because that’s all my grandma ever read and I wasn’t ready to be in the grandma category of reading taste, but these are done brilliantly, drawing you in from the first page with psychopaths, lots of twists and turns, characters with so much depth, and not at all boring courtroom scenes. I’m hooked.

I believe this is number 5 in the Eddie Flynn series and I didn’t have trouble jumping into the middle of a series at all. It read like a stand alone novel for the most part, while alluding occasionally to some past events that weren’t relevant to the plot line.

This one pits sister against sister when their father is murdered and they each call 911 at the same time and accuse the other of being the murderer. The police have no choice but to charge both, and the rest of the book will have you questioning which one it was constantly. Could not put this book down!!

Eddie land a high profile case of a prior city Mayor. The problem is both his daughters are the accused and are blaming each other.

This was a slow starter for me compared to the other books I've read from Steve Cavenaugh, but once it started rolling it didn't stop. I can't wait to read everything else he writes!

I have been reading the Eddie Flynn series, not in order, and this is probably my favorite so far. Fifty fifty had me going back and forth on who was guilty and following all of the clues throughout the entire book. This was such a fun read, and I really enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end. I would recommend this series to thriller lovers, you do not have to read them in order as each book is a good stand alone, however it it nice to see the progression of some of his personal life.

Love love love this author, and especially his character Eddie and his band of friends. Interesting premise and I was hooked from the first line. It got a bit dark and sad along the way but it all wrapped up nicely and I found it to be a super great read!
