There are stories with twists, and then there are stories with characters who are twisted. This book delivers both. Melinda Leigh once again pulls readers deep into Sheriff Bree Taggert’s world with a case that’s equal parts chilling and addictive. What begins with a brutal murder soon spirals into a tangled web of suspects, secrets, and shocking betrayals. I loved the way this author layered the suspense, keeping the tension sharp with every revelation. Just when I thought I knew where it was going, the story veered, proving that the most dangerous twists aren’t always in the plot, they’re in the people. A fast, gripping read that left me satisfied and already eager for the next installment.

Love the Bree Taggert series each book seems to get better and better. The writing is superb as is the characterisation. There were thrills aplenty.and I didn’t guess the culprit which is a big plus. The pace of the book was just right to keep me reading on and on. Look forward to their next escapade.

In a quiet suburban neighborhood in upstate New York, single mom Kelly Gibson is slain in her home—the victim of a rage killing. Right away, Sheriff Bree Taggert has three persons of interest: an angry soon-to-be ex-husband, a furtive rebound boyfriend, and an obsessive neighbor.
But as Bree and investigator Matt Flynn work together to narrow the field, there’s a shocking twist in the case: a second woman is murdered in the same brutal fashion.
While investigating, Bree is attacked and left for dead. When another woman is kidnapped, Bree and Matt must act quickly to unravel the deceptions in Kelly’s life and death and find a killer before someone else dies.
Loved this. I need to read more of the series. Will recommend to others

I’m giving this a 5 star rating because my review is no fault on the author. I didn’t realize this was book 10 in a series. When I requested, there was no indication that this was part of a series. And since I’m not one who will read a series out of order, I cannot give a review of this.

Leigh's Bree Taggert series is always a top notch read! A gruesome local murder brings Bree and her investigative team to center stage once again as they race against time to figure out who is behind the subterfuge in time to stop additional killings. The case is laid out with lots of twists and turns that bring excitement to the happenings of the team. I love the family and human aspect that is always shown along with the working side of things when Bree and Matt are together. I was a tad surprised that we didn't get to see a reaction from one person in the middle of the case to wrap it all up into a neat bow at the end, but it didn't disrupt my enjoyment of the book at all. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a top notch female cop who brings heart and integrity to life during every case she works on.

I LOVED it!!! I absolutely love the Bree Taggert Series and the books never disappoint. So many twists and turns, surprises around every corner. I couldn't put this book down. It's been less than two years since Bree moved back to Grey's Hollow and started taking care of Kayla and Luke. So much has happened to Bree. It's hard to believe how much crime takes place where they live. Grey's Hollow's murder rate must be off the charts. Bree and all her officers definitely have job security, although they must fear for their safety, since someone is always trying to kill one of them. Harrison and Troy were my top two suspects. It's usually always the boyfriend or husband. Harrison was a controlling husband who dropped his wife as soon as he found a younger model. Plus, he didn't think Kelly deserved any of "his" money in the divorce. Troy was just off. He couldn't seem to manage any type of long term relationship and was emotionless. I was shocked when the truth about everything was finally revealed and the reason behind the murders. The killings were so senseless. Bree was lucky she found Turbo on the road. What happened to her was scary. Greta is the best and deserves her squeaky hedgehogs. It's nice to see Vader hasn't changed. Are Matt's boots still safe from his furballs? It was great to see Morgan and Lance again. If I ever needed a lawyer, she would be the first one I'd call.
Definitely recommend the book and all the previous ones in the series. I need a Dana in my life. She makes the most wonderful meals and is always there for Bree and the kids. She deserves a happy ending with Matt's brother Nolan. I can't wait to see what's next for Bree and Matt. I hear wedding bells ringing in the near future. Fingers crossed. Turbo needs to join Greta on the force. He is too smart for his own good but a wonderful protector. Loved the characters, story and writing style. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Montlake through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you, Montlake, for sending me this ARC. ☺️🥰
Melinda Leigh is one of the authors who got me back into reading. I love the Bree Taggert series.
Book #10 met all my expectations. This series is just so fun, and I love the little twists along the way. I've truly fallen in love with the characters, and I love how characters from other series of hers have been blended into this series. Melinda Leigh never disappoints. 4.25 stars! ✨
I highly recommend you add this series to your TBR if you enjoy detective/criminal-based mysteries/thrillers.

As always, all thoughts are my own. 🖤😊

Brilliant! The perfect blend of mystery and character development.
Gosh, this book has it all. A mystery to sink your teeth into that moves at the right pace intertwined with action, danger and beautiful and moving moments in the main characters lives.
What can I say, Melinda Leigh is an author I know will deliver what I’m looking for and book 10 in the Bree Taggert series, Beyond Her Reach did just that.
Called to the scene of a gruesome murder, two immediate suspects hit to top of the list, the woman’s ex-husband and her ex-boyfriend. When a second victim is found murdered in the same manner and turns out to have been on the same dating app and a connection to one of the suspects you begin to wonder, do they have another killer targeting victims they meet via the app? But with alibi’s being sketchy, motive lacking, Bree being attacked, potential victims they warned almost being attacked and one going missing, the team wonder if there is something big they are missing, is someone else responsible?
On the home front, Luke is coming close to graduating high school and looking at colleges he would like to attend, and Bree needs to deal with the emotions of him moving away. Kayla, I swear is my spirit child, of course you always need to have a book with you, for just in case, but not just one, more than one. Cady, (Matt’s sister) and Todd are expecting their bub, and there is some special news there. There are also plenty of beautiful family moments with Bree and her brother Adam as well as a book ending that is very happy and uplifting.
As a bonus, for anyone who has read other series by Melinda, Morgan Dane (Attorney) and hubby, PI Lance Kruger make and appearance in this book. If you have not read the Morgan Dane novels, check them out! There are 6 in the series, starting with Say You’re Sorry.

Another exciting murder mystery that Bree Taggert has to solve.
Beyond Her Reach was a fast pace story the keep me turning the pages with a twist I did not expect.
If you are a fan of Melinda Leigh you will enjoy this book.
Looking forward to the next installment.

This is my first Sheriff Bree Taggert book, but it’s actually the tenth in the series. I loved it! It was refreshing because all of the “good guys” really were good. The deputies were good cops and respected the Sheriff. The defense lawyer was even a decent human being. So it was easy to just focus on the murders and try to follow the clues. It was suspenseful and surprising, and I’m definitely going back to read book one! 4⭐️

Such a great additi9n to this series but also very easily captivating as a standalone for people who haven't followed this series. You quickly come to adopt Bree and team into your book reader family though. They are an awesome team to follow. And getting to know them and who they are as people only adds to the depth of the books and the depth of how much you care about what happens.
Oh and we have dogs. Enough said right. Half the time I'm doing a mantra of "anything, just dont hurt any dogs" throughout though lol.
This time Bree is called in to investigate a real rage kind of killing of a woman. There are suspects in a few places and all seem fitting for motive. One though has solid alibis and also money and a legal team to boot.
Bree and her team specifically her partner Matt are thrust even deeper and darker when another woman is murdered which only puts more questions in the mix.
The risk comes to her own life as she is left for dead after an attack on her life.
The team must work harder and faster before someone else is hurt or worse murdered.
This book was full of everything that you want and need in a book like this. You have the suspense and tension from the plot. You have a team who you come to recognise. I love knowing there tone of voice in .y own head, their humour and or personalities. We also have that little romance. And nothing detracts from the other. Its all balanced and brilliant.
Loved this book and cant wait for more.
Strong female lead has me rooting for it and her even more. Buuuut she is so much part of her team, friends and community that its doesnt detracts or take over as a "thing". But somehow that makes it even more perfectly done and important.

This latest book "Beyond Her Reach" once I started reading I couldn't put it down.
Who was the killer and the motive? It was a surprise to me when I finished the book.
Given arc by Net Galley and Mountlake for my arc.. i enjoyed this authors books

As with all the books in the series, this 10th book is a compelling read. Easy to read, full of suspense with realistic characters and plenty of twists. I love the way the crime aspect is balanced by the relationship between Bree and Matt. Descriptions of their family life add further interest to the story.
This series is going from strength to strength.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series. This series features a wonderful cast of strong intelligent women making it in a mans world. Bree and Matt are once again on the trail of a killer. It will take all their skill and a good dose of luck to get justice done. I was sucked into this story and just couldn’t put it down.

A suspenseful and gruesome murder mystery where I did not guess the villain! I enjoyed getting back into Bree Taggart’s life, both as local sheriff and mother of 2 kids. I’m glad that Matt (her romantic and work partner) was able to work through his depression and find his life purpose. And I’m always happy with canine characters! While mainly written from Bree’s POV, there were some incidents where we got the POV of Morgan Dane, the defense attorney, which was interesting. We also got more of a glimpse into Bree’s past. Looking forward to seeing what is next for Bree Taggart!

Sheriff Bree Taggert and her team are back to solve another series of murders in ‘Beyond Her Reach’. While you could read this as a standalone, where’s the fun in that when there are at least 9 other books in the series to enjoy?
I find Bree Taggart books a bit of a comfort read. I know going in that I will get a book that hits all the right notes - engaging characters with solid relationships, a murder mystery plot that’s intriguing and most importantly, some wonderful four legged furry friends along for the ride. Give me a story with a dog in it any day and I’m happy.
Bree has grown so much as a character since book 1 ‘Cross Her Heart’ that she now freely talks about therapy and about all her past traumas. And she and Matt are a great couple, firmly happy and content in their relationship. And we also get to catch up with some other characters from Melinda Leigh’s other books, defence attorney Morgan Dane and her private investigator husband Lance Kruger from the ‘Morgan Dane’ series, which was nice.
Great read, kept me guessing till the final chapters. 4 stars from me.
** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher**

When a mom is found slain in a small community, there are plenty of suspects, especially the men in her life--the ex-husband, the boyfriend and the neighbor who is giving obsessed much vibes. Sheriff Bree Taggert investigates and is narrowing down the pool of suspects. That is, until another woman is found in the exact same way. What do the women have in common? Who could wan't to hurt them?
Beyond Her Reach is the 10th book in the Bree Taggert series. These books are always so well written and satisfying. I love police procedurals--they are probably my favorite type of mystery/suspense books. I found the plot interesting and just twisty enough to be believable. The ending was satisfying and I really enjoyed how characters from the author's other series were intertwined in this story.

In a quiet suburb in upstate New York, single mom Kelly Gibson is brutally murdered in her own home. Sheriff Bree Taggert immediately suspects three people close to Kelly: her angry soon-to-be ex-husband, a secretive new boyfriend, and a suspicious neighbor. As Bree and investigator Matt Flynn dig deeper, the case takes a darker turn when another woman is killed in the same violent way. Bree herself becomes a target and is nearly killed, and when yet another woman is kidnapped, Bree and Matt race against time to uncover the secrets behind Kelly’s life and stop the killer before more lives are lost.
I really enjoyed Beyond Her Reach by Melinda Leigh—another gripping addition to the Bree Taggert series. The story kept me hooked with its suspenseful murder investigation and plenty of unexpected twists. I loved how the author balanced intense crime-solving with glimpses into Bree’s personal life and relationships, especially her partnership with Matt. The characters feel real and relatable, and the strong team dynamic at the sheriff’s department adds a lot of depth to the story. It was great to see familiar faces from Leigh’s other series making appearances too, which added extra layers to the plot.
What stood out to me was how well the book handled both the emotional side and the procedural details of the investigation without feeling overdone or unrealistic. The pacing was fast, and I couldn’t put it down until the very end. Plus, the dogs—always a bonus! This book is a must-read for fans of smart, character-driven thrillers with strong female leads. I’m already looking forward to the next one!

"sometimes, the hardest thing to do is not run from the past, but to face it head-on."

The tenth Bree Taggert mystery has her investigating the brutal murder of a woman in her home in upstate New York. Kelly Gibson was in the middle of a divorce and a home renovation project when her throat was slit by a box cutter.
Bree and her live-in and part time investigator Matt Flynn quickly identify three potential suspects. The almost-ex-husband who wanted her to sell the house so that he could start a new life with her replacement is a good candidate. So is the guy she met on a dating app. Then there is the overly interested and possibly stalkerish guy who lives across the street.
As Bree and Matt investigate, they are also dealing with Matt's sister's impending birth which will put Bree's chief deputy on the sidelines since he's the father. Then there's Turbo who is supposed to be in training as a police dog but who is already an accomplished escape artist with lots and lots of energy.
Bree has her favorite suspect, but another woman is murdered in the same way as Kelly while she is interviewing him. They only thing the two women seem to have in common is that both dated the same potential suspect who also has an airtight alibi.
Then Bree is attacked by having a concrete block dropped on her patrol car and having the car run over a strip which blows out her tires. Only the presence of Turbo saves her when the potential killer comes to finish her off.
The case finally comes together when a third woman is kidnapped.
This was an excellent addition to the series. I love the relationship between Bree and Matt. The side characters are also interesting people.

This is the tenth book in the Bree Taggert series. I had only read the first two books in this series, but this could easily be read as a stand-alone book.
Bree is a smart, brave sherif of a rural county in upstate NY. Matt, her boyfriend, also works for the sherif's office. Those two are a dynamic duo! Both characters have great personalities that make you want to see them succeed.
This book was suspenseful and full of action. Just when you think you have it all figured out, something happens to change your mind. The identity of the killer will shock you!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.
