Beyond her Reach
Another brilliantly constructed thriller with the wonderful Sheriff Bree Taggert and investigator Matt Flyn.
In a quiet suburban area a woman is found dead in her home from a vicious attack. With an angry ex husband, previous boyfriend and almost stalker like neighbour as suspects Bree and her team have their work cut out.
When another woman is found murdered at home in the same horrific manner it becomes even more confusing to sort out the connections.
All manner of things are slowly revealed and this fast paced story certainly keeps you on your toes. With a very satisfying finale this is an enjoyable exciting read.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly

Sheriff Bree Taggert is called to a horrific murder in a quiet neighborhood. Soon-to-be divorced Kelly Gibson is slain in her home, and it's just awful. Bree and her invesitgator and partner, Matt Flynn, dive deep into the case and notice she was dating someone. This provides for a great cameo for attorney Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger as they represent the man Kelly was recently dating. As they are working their investigation, another woman turns up murdered... also to have recently dated the same man. Being pressured by the county board of commissioners, Bree and Matt dive deep into the investigation - at a cost. And then, we get to meet Turbo, a rescue dog that Matt takes in from his sister, Cady. And in this book, Turbo might be my favorite character... I can't wait to see how Ms. Leigh takes him further. Absolutely fantastic - and you will stay up all night to finish this book - as it is that darn good! A great big thank you to Montlake for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

I love the Bree Taggert series! I feel like this series just keeps getting better and better!!
In this book, there are so many twists and turns that it keeps the reader engrossed in the story until the end,
I didn't see that ending coming!
I love how Bree continues to open up to her family and friends more, and is even willing to look further into her tragic past in order to heal.
Great story! Can't wait to see what happens next!

This was a really good read . It keeps you guessing right till the end would be great if there is a follow up . I would definitely read more of Melinda Leigh books .

Welcome back Sheriff Taggert! Easily this series has become a top 3 in crime/law enforcement series. In the real world, it is the dream to have a Sheriff and law enforcement group who are so embedded in their community and truly cares about everyone and sees the person behind the victim.
In "Beyond Her Reach," there is a killer on the loose once again. First their is the brutal murder of a middle aged woman who is separated from her midlife crisis having husband. Not too long later, another woman is killed in much the same way. Like with every great Bree Taggert book, there are a few possible motives and suspects and the force in there to support Bree in getting to the truth. The amazing Matt is there as always and my favorite characters - the dogs!!
Bree and Matt's relationship takes a bit of a front seat in "Beyond Her Reach" and Cady and Todd have a pretty exciting arrival! Luke is hitting a milestone that I hope will be explored in Book #11 and Kayla is just a lovebug.
All in all, this is exactly what I expect from Melinda Leigh and can't wait for the next installment.
Thank you to Melinda Leigh and Net Galley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Beyond Her Reach by Melinda Leigh is the 10th book in the Bree Taggert series and I will admit going in I didn't realize it was part of a series! Melinda Leigh did a fantastic job of filling in the blanks so I don't feel like I was missing anything and it was written like a standalone, however, I enjoyed it so much I will probably check out the other books in the series.
Beyond Her Reach starts out with a woman who was brutally murdered and Bree sets off to find her killer, was it the soon-to-be ex-husband? The recent ex boyfriend? Or was it the stalkerish neighbor? There were enough twists in there to give me whiplash and after a second murder took place I was even more thrown off. I had fun guessing till the very end and I gathered that Sheriff Taggert stops at nothing to catch her killer.
I'd like to thank Netgalley and Montlake for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait to tackle more by this author
4.5/5 ⭐

This is another great police procedural in Melinda Leigh's Bree Taggert series. I have enjoyed following these characters, both primary and secondary, throughout this series. Reading the next installment is always a treat I look forward to. Start at the beginning to get the most out of it. Great story; I highly recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

This has to be the most twisted installment yet of the Bree Taggert series. You think you have it figured out and you will be so wrong! And the final twists and turns will keep you gasping and racing thru the pages!

Thank you Montlake and Netgalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read from Melinda and I cannot wait to go back and read the rest of this series and more. This is the type of series I love and I don’t know why I never found her before.
I loved the characters especially Bree. She is easy to relate to. Her relationship with Matt and her sister’s children is sweet.
Loved the forensic details, the twist I actually did not see coming so I loved that it wasn’t predictable. Overall loved the book and cannot wait to go back and start the series.

Bree is at it again, searching for a brutal killer that’s willing to strike again and again. I enjoyed the plot and the characters, as always. I do wish there was more action throughout the book instead of just towards the end. I wholeheartedly recommend Beyond Her Reach. #NetGalley

I love the continuing story of Sheriff Bree Taggart and her significant other Investigator Matt Flynn! This story is tense, full of misdirection and thoroughly entertaining! The characters are very well developed and it is hard to find a stopping point as the action never ends for long. I did not want this book to end! Definitely a 5 star!

In the wake of a woman’s savage murder, the suspects and motives are only mounting for Sheriff Bree Taggert! Another great read! I’m loving this series! The characters are awesome! It has great suspense, mystery, murder, intriguing, action, and some shocking twists! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

The latest book in the Bree Taggert series starts with a gruesome murder, and snowballs from there. I am a huge fan of this series—and love getting to see crossover from other book series, ie the Morgan Dane books. This was fast paced and well written—if I had any complaints it would be that there wasn’t enough of Bree’s family in the book. But overall a great read!

What a shocker!!
Brutal murder has Bree Taggert and Matt on a hunt to find a killer with suspects coming out of the woodwork.
This fantastic series just keeps getting better and will keep you on your toes waiting for the next shoe to drop. You sure don’t want to miss this one.

I rounded up. I’m not gonna lie here. The book was good but I struggled a bit with it mainly because it felt choppy. I absolutely love Melinda Leigh books. The Bree Taggart series is a grad and read for me always. Just this one wasn’t as good and others for me. It was good to catch up with all the main players and seeing Morgan Dane and Lance involved was fantastic! The new pup was a great addition too. I’m looking forward to the next in the series for sure.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
Sheriff Bree and her partner Matt investigate when a woman is found murdered. Her ex husband and current boyfriend make good suspects, but with little evidence Bree can’t prove anything. Then another woman is found murdered.
Could not put this down. I loved catching up with a new instalment in this series. The characters are so likeable, but I was definitely rooting for Turbo the dog too. This book left me frustrated, much like the characters, with lack of evidence etc. this was a positive experience though as I really felt like I was experiencing things first hand. The ending when it came was a completely shocking woah moment. Highly recommend.

I loved this book and this series. It was good to catch up with not only Bree and Matt but also Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger. Women are being murdered and there are several suspects. Lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending. Also a new dog to love.

Another great addition to the Bree Taggart series. Bree and Matt are stumped by a series of murders and none of the clues are clear. Great insight into working K-9s also
I loved this book as the back story had insight into Brees past and her relationship with Matt
Hoping for many more

“Beyond Her Reach” is officially Bree Taggart #10, although fans have also recently had more Bree in the recent Kendra Elliot/Melinda Leigh collaboration “Echo Road.” Each Bree Taggart story is strong enough to survive as a great standalone thriller since enough backstory will be present to fill you into Bree’s family matters and sheriff’s department politics (and dogs, there are always doggos, especially since her partner trains K9s). She’s a New York State Sheriff who has survived childhood trauma, formerly Philly PD, but now is happily employed as the head of a county sheriff’s department. She is romantically involved (not undercover, but no public PDA), with her chief investigator, and former K-9 handler Matt Lyon. Taggart and her various deputies are a likeable crew, upstanding, thorough and professional, so the petty jealousies and department conspiracies aren’t present. Author Leigh always constructs a strong police procedural, filled with twists, turns, and bad guys who get their proper comeuppances.
In “Beyond Her Reach,” Sheriff Taggart is investigating the murder of a middle-aged divorcee found in her home with a slashed throat. Suspects include the angry ex-husband, a stoic unemotional rich boyfriend, and a creepy neighbor. The boyfriend has an expensive defense attorney who, with her own private investigator, is covering the same ground as Bree and Matt, adding more clues and eyewitnesses. This all seems to be a standard murder investigation until, at the halfway point, there’s a new element of danger and the county supervisor (who has morphed from black and white Cruella DeVilla to a gray ally), Madeline Jager, is screaming about an unproven “serial killer!” to the press. Bonus! Bree’s department needs another K9, and super-energetic Turbo is auditioning for the job.
I love these types of police stories with steady protagonists (it’s OK that they don’t have perfect pasts). Bree Taggart stories have become an auto-buy for me and I hope to see much more of Bree and Matt! 4.5 stars!
Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): NO But Bree’s brother Adam has equally rare hazel eyes.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO Winter is approaching and only a few scraggly weeds are described.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy!

I was thrilled to find this book as a Netgalley offering. I love this series, which I discovered through Kindle Unlimited. I've now read all the books in the series and hope there will be more. Thank you, Netgalley, publisher and most especially, author Melinda Leigh.
I'm not sure where these fall in the mystery genre: police procedural? Cozy? Thriller? Whatever they are, I'm glad I found them. Likewise, I'm not sure if this is the "best" book in the series. I AM very sure, however, that you should read the first few books in the series before you read the latest installment. Without those, you're going to largely miss out on a lot of the emotional aspects of the story. So, get hold of at least the first few volumes and read them, then go ahead and read this one. I think it's a worthwhile series. The characters have grown and changed as the series progressed, which is something Ienjoy. If you're a New Yorker ( state more than city), you'll feel like you're on familiar terrain.
One thing to note, however-- there is a lot of violence in this series, including remembrances of spousal abuse as seen through the eyes of a child. If that is a sensitive subject for you, give the series a pass. Otherwise, I'd wholeheartedly recommend the series and this latest entry in it.
