I rounded up. I’m not gonna lie here. The book was good but I struggled a bit with it mainly because it felt choppy. I absolutely love Melinda Leigh books. The Bree Taggart series is a grad and read for me always. Just this one wasn’t as good and others for me. It was good to catch up with all the main players and seeing Morgan Dane and Lance involved was fantastic! The new pup was a great addition too. I’m looking forward to the next in the series for sure.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
Sheriff Bree and her partner Matt investigate when a woman is found murdered. Her ex husband and current boyfriend make good suspects, but with little evidence Bree can’t prove anything. Then another woman is found murdered.
Could not put this down. I loved catching up with a new instalment in this series. The characters are so likeable, but I was definitely rooting for Turbo the dog too. This book left me frustrated, much like the characters, with lack of evidence etc. this was a positive experience though as I really felt like I was experiencing things first hand. The ending when it came was a completely shocking woah moment. Highly recommend.

I loved this book and this series. It was good to catch up with not only Bree and Matt but also Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger. Women are being murdered and there are several suspects. Lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending. Also a new dog to love.

Another great addition to the Bree Taggart series. Bree and Matt are stumped by a series of murders and none of the clues are clear. Great insight into working K-9s also
I loved this book as the back story had insight into Brees past and her relationship with Matt
Hoping for many more

“Beyond Her Reach” is officially Bree Taggart #10, although fans have also recently had more Bree in the recent Kendra Elliot/Melinda Leigh collaboration “Echo Road.” Each Bree Taggart story is strong enough to survive as a great standalone thriller since enough backstory will be present to fill you into Bree’s family matters and sheriff’s department politics (and dogs, there are always doggos, especially since her partner trains K9s). She’s a New York State Sheriff who has survived childhood trauma, formerly Philly PD, but now is happily employed as the head of a county sheriff’s department. She is romantically involved (not undercover, but no public PDA), with her chief investigator, and former K-9 handler Matt Lyon. Taggart and her various deputies are a likeable crew, upstanding, thorough and professional, so the petty jealousies and department conspiracies aren’t present. Author Leigh always constructs a strong police procedural, filled with twists, turns, and bad guys who get their proper comeuppances.
In “Beyond Her Reach,” Sheriff Taggart is investigating the murder of a middle-aged divorcee found in her home with a slashed throat. Suspects include the angry ex-husband, a stoic unemotional rich boyfriend, and a creepy neighbor. The boyfriend has an expensive defense attorney who, with her own private investigator, is covering the same ground as Bree and Matt, adding more clues and eyewitnesses. This all seems to be a standard murder investigation until, at the halfway point, there’s a new element of danger and the county supervisor (who has morphed from black and white Cruella DeVilla to a gray ally), Madeline Jager, is screaming about an unproven “serial killer!” to the press. Bonus! Bree’s department needs another K9, and super-energetic Turbo is auditioning for the job.
I love these types of police stories with steady protagonists (it’s OK that they don’t have perfect pasts). Bree Taggart stories have become an auto-buy for me and I hope to see much more of Bree and Matt! 4.5 stars!
Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): NO But Bree’s brother Adam has equally rare hazel eyes.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO Winter is approaching and only a few scraggly weeds are described.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy!

I was thrilled to find this book as a Netgalley offering. I love this series, which I discovered through Kindle Unlimited. I've now read all the books in the series and hope there will be more. Thank you, Netgalley, publisher and most especially, author Melinda Leigh.
I'm not sure where these fall in the mystery genre: police procedural? Cozy? Thriller? Whatever they are, I'm glad I found them. Likewise, I'm not sure if this is the "best" book in the series. I AM very sure, however, that you should read the first few books in the series before you read the latest installment. Without those, you're going to largely miss out on a lot of the emotional aspects of the story. So, get hold of at least the first few volumes and read them, then go ahead and read this one. I think it's a worthwhile series. The characters have grown and changed as the series progressed, which is something Ienjoy. If you're a New Yorker ( state more than city), you'll feel like you're on familiar terrain.
One thing to note, however-- there is a lot of violence in this series, including remembrances of spousal abuse as seen through the eyes of a child. If that is a sensitive subject for you, give the series a pass. Otherwise, I'd wholeheartedly recommend the series and this latest entry in it.

What a fantastic book! The first one I have read by this author but definitely can't wait to read more! The characters stay with you long after you finish the book. Highly recommend!

Beyond her Reach by Melinda Leigh, published by Montlake is book 10 in the Bree Taggert Series.
Sheriff Bree Taggert's latest case becomes a challenge for Bree, her team and Matt Finn, her partner. She seems subdued, a bit tired and is kind of in a stand still. A race against time, finding a hostage, solving a complicated, complex case she has her hands full.
Bree and Matt make a fantastic team, introducing a new dog - yay - I loved the story about Tempo.
All in all a read that is worth waiting for, suspenseful, excellent, and deserves all the stars.

My first read from @netgalley and definitely not my last!
There is so much to unravel here. This is my first time reading a Melinda Leigh book. Have I been under a rock? I’m not sure, but I’ll be getting my hands on everything I can.
This read follows Sheriff Bree Taggert through a small town murder mystery. Who done it? Who done it again?! I can’t pinpoint one thing I loved specifically about Bree, because her character is just fantastic. There is a little backstory, doesn’t go deep, but it makes you love her!
One of the best things about this book is the roll out. There is nothing slow about the story. From page one, the author is off and writing. It’s fabulous. When something is about to happen, it happens. Why are these women, all dated by the same man, being murdered or coming up missing?
Everyone knows I love a book with fast chapters and this one delivers. Fast, fast, fast. And just when you think you have it figured out, you don’t. At one point I thought… I won’t tell!
My ONLY issue with this book, I read it on my phone. GASP! Net Galley is digital, so when I downloaded this, to my phone it went. I guess it’s time to buy a new Kindle. (I do love to hold and smell a book, but access to books before they are even sold is 𝑵𝑬𝑿𝑻 𝑳𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑳 for me. So I’ll be Kindle shopping this weekend!

Sheriff Bree Taggert and K nine handler and investigator Matt Flynn are back in this suspenseful story. A woman is found with her throat slashed in her home. There are several suspects. The ex husband who has a younger woman in his life. The neighbor who is a little stalkerish. The ex boyfriend who is not really a people person. They believe it is a one time killing but when another woman is found with her throat slashed too, her and the first woman have a man in common. But it’s when another woman is taken from her home that really narrows down the list of suspects. Can they find the woman before it’s too late?
I COULD NOT put this book down! I never would have guessed who the killer was. Action. Suspense. You will be on the edge of your seat. Be prepared to get sucked into this book.
* VOLUNTARILY READ AND REVIEWED FOR NETGALLEY *

Another terrific mystery. All the usual twists and turns. Fine alone but of course best in order as we follow both Morgan and Bree. Usually I figure it out early but this one did a good job of keeping the options open. Really enjoyable quick beach read.

As always, anything Melinda Leigh rights is a hit, and this is no different. Matt and Bree are settling into life together, and the kids are growing up. Just when Bree starts another case, she has a memory come about her mom. She and Adam make a sketch, so hopefully, they can find her. Life is moving along. There are some surprises in here both for the fans and for Jager.
I enjoyed this book, and I hope you do as well. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another murder mystery in upstate NY as Sheriff Bree Taggert and her deputies seek out another serial killer. A woman is discovered brutally murdered in her house, was it the soon-to-be ex-husband, the stalkery neighbor, or a recent date? As another murder puts more people in jeopardy, Bree will stop at nothing to find the killer!
Fans of the Bree Taggert series (like me!) will not be disappointed with the new book! Most importantly, all our favorites (including Morgan Dane & Lance Kruger sightings) are there, and a new pup gets featured! And more heart eyes emojis regarding our favorite slow-burn couple! You will not want to miss this next adventure!
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for the advanced reading copy. All raves and opinions are my own!

Gripping and complex murder investigation that you won't put down! You will not see this ending coming! Well developed characters that you feel you know, and some heroic dogs that steal the show. Always a good mixture of action, intrigue, suspense -human interaction and emotion. Red herrings at every turn, but you won't figure this one out!

Part of a series with many familiar characters great to catch up with their lives and loves. An excellent thriller with a surprising twist.

This was a good book. I enjoy mystery:thriller and this was a good one. I would recommend this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

Solid thriller with engaging twists!
This author is new to me, but I will seek out more from her.
Characterizations were especially strong.
