In “Strong As A Girl” Kate Rope invites us to join her in an exploration of our roles as caregivers of girls. It’s a thoughtful journey, without judgment, with plenty of humor, and with an incredible amount of expertise and personal insight. The broad range of topics highlights the huge responsibility caregivers have, and yet the content is approachable and paired with plenty of useful tips for how to actually speak/practice the ideas. Rope also shows sincere compassion for the reader, with many opportunities to offer themselves grace and patience as caregivers. That small gift, like much of the content, is a paradigm shift from how many of us in the author’s generation were raised and it’s the reason the world needs this book! Many thanks for being brave enough to cover this critical but daunting topic.

A great book for caregivers who are beginning their journey to understand and connect with young girls.

An Empowering, Insightful Guide for Anyone Raising or Supporting Girls
Strong as a Girl by Kate Rope is a beautifully written, accessible, and deeply empowering read. The writing is clear and engaging, but what truly sets this book apart is its exceptional depth and care. Rope draws from expert insights, thoughtful interviews with girls and parents, and her own lived experiences as a mother, weaving together advice, practical tips, and powerful stories that are as relatable as they are useful.
As a mother of two daughters, ages 8 and 10, I’ve already begun to implement some of the wisdom in this book—and I know I’ll return to it again and again as my girls grow. But this isn’t just a book for parents. It’s for anyone who plays a role in a girl’s life—caregivers, teachers, coaches, mentors. Kate Rope has created a resource that’s as inclusive as it is insightful, offering guidance that is both grounded in research and full of heart.
This is an essential read for anyone looking to raise, support, or simply understand girls in today’s world.

I loved how inclusive it is, how flexible it feels, and how empowering it is without ever being preachy. It doesn’t just help you raise a strong girl. It helps you grow alongside her.

This was the first parenting book I've read, and I know it will be a vital text for me going forward in raising my currently 10 month old daughter. It gave me hope, pause, and joy. I look forward to the challenges, the highs and the lows, and using this as a guide to raise my incredible girl.

This thorough, thoughtful book has lots of good information. I knew most of it already, but what sets this book apart is its practical suggestions and input from girls and parents.
I was disappointed that in the more potentially-controversial aspects of the book, research was not directly cited to make the arguments more convincing. So some readers may take parts of this book with a grain of salt (as the author herself acknowledges at the beginning). Overall, most parents of girls will still find this is a good resource.
