A psychological thriller that delves into memory, identity, and trust. Willingham's storytelling keeps readers questioning what's real. A gripping read for fans of domestic suspense.

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3..5)

Forget Me Not had an intriguing premise and moments of genuine suspense. Stacy Willingham does a solid job of creating a moody, atmospheric setting, and there were definitely twists that kept me turning the pages. However, the pacing felt uneven and some parts dragged while others rushed through key developments. I also found it hard to fully connect with the main character.

The psychological elements were interesting, and the mystery kept me guessing, but the story didn’t completely stick with me after I finished. That said, fans of domestic thrillers and slow-burn mysteries may still enjoy the ride!

If you’re looking for a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat while chills run up your body, you need to look no further. Stacy Willingham has delivered another spine-tingling story to satisfy your killer, I mean “thriller instinct”.

After twenty-two years of grieving the tragic murder of her older sister Natalie, Claire Campbell returns to her hometown of Claxton, South Carolina after quitting her journalist job in NYC. But returning home, opens wounds with unanswered questions that Claire still has about the murder. When she decides to take a job that allows her to live in a guesthouse at the local vineyard Galloway Farms where her sister had worked all those years ago, Claire immediately senses her sister’s presence. As she settles in to her first night there, Claire discovers a diary written by eighteen-year old Marcia Rayburn who had gone missing in 1984. Filled with secrets of life on the farm, will Marcia’s words propel Claire to find the answers to her unanswered questions about Natalie’s disappearance and murder? Filled with twists and turns til the very end, this chilling story will not only keep you guessing but will deliver the fear and anxiety only good thrillers can do.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for the pleasure of reading an early copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

FORGET ME NOT
ARC review • pub date 08.26.25

22 years after her sister Natalie disappears, Claire returns to her hometown. Claire, who is now a journalist, finds a photo of her sister at a farm close by, and decides to get a summer job there, as it makes her think of a time her sister was happy. Claire finds a diary of one of the farm’s owners and becomes obsessed with its contents.

I think this might be my favorite Stacy Willingham book - I’ve read all of her thrillers and was eager to get to this one! I felt like the early chapters were a bit slow but the second half picks up and the last few chapters had my heart racing! Read if you love unsolved missing persons cases & diary entries.

Thrillers like this are an absolute blast! Even though I could predict some parts of the plot, the wild twists kept me on my toes and totally entertained. I dove in without reading the overview, and I’m so glad I did. It made every surprise even more thrilling! The small town, low country setting added a charming, atmospheric vibe that made the story even more captivating. Stacy Willingham is becoming one of my autoread authors for suspense/thrillers!

I have enjoyed most of Willingham's novels, and this didn't disappoint. While it's not my favorite, it definitely kept my interest. A likable main character and some plot developments that kept me guessing.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Minotaur Books!

Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham is about a woman named Claire whose sister disappeared when she was 11. When her sister’s blood soaked item of clothing was found, her boyfriend is found guilty of her murder. Claire is now a journalist but never forgot what happened to her sister. When she goes back to her hometown for the first time in years, she ends up working at a winery called Galloway which is one of the last places her sister spent time the summer before she was murdered. When she uncovers a diary at the farm, secrets start beginning to unravel and this quiet, quaint place may not be all it seems to be.

This book was a little slow to start so at first I wasn’t sure how I was going to rate this book in the end but once she found the diary and the plot picked up— I was hooked! I really enjoyed the diary chapters thrown in throughout the book. Between the diary chapter and shorter chapters in general— it made the book go by very quickly!

I enjoyed the winery, quaint but haunting atmospheric setting of Galloway! It was beautiful but also isolating and secluded and made for the perfect summer, thriller read! It’s like you wanted to be there but then also realized very quickly that you should probably get out of there!

There were also a few twists and turns in the book that surprised me and I loved the cult vibe of the book. It was a little bit different than other thriller books that I have read. I would definitely recommend this book!

I have enjoyed almost all of Willingham’s books — this one being no different— and she has become a go-to buy for me!

This was a page-turner!! I was gripped the whole time by the eerie atmosphere. Sometimes I wanted to shake the main character for putting herself in dangerous situations, but that’s most thrillers. Stayed up too late finishing this one, it was good!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Outside of goodreads: this book was fantastic! Was it the best thriller I've read? Maybe not but it was so easily bingeable and hard to put down which is seriously what makes a perfect thriller. Thank you so much for this early copy and I love Stacy Willingham!!

WOW this one is such a bingeable thriller and I quite literally could not put it down. I loved how unique this story was and I feel like this would be a top-tier travel, vacay, or spooky Halloween read. 10/10 recommend preordering this one before it's out in August!

Forget Me Not was my first read by Stacy Willingham—and it definitely won’t be my last. I devoured this gripping mystery in under 12 hours, completely hooked from the first page to the last.

The story centers around a haunting disappearance from 20 years ago, but what really sets this novel apart is that it’s the missings sister who ultimately solves the mystery. That twist alone had me fully invested, and the suspense never let up. Willingham masterfully weaves past and present, gradually unraveling secrets in a way that kept me guessing until the very end.

What I loved most was how everything tied together so seamlessly at the end. The conclusion was both satisfying and surprising—nothing felt forced or unresolved. It was one of those rare thrillers where every clue had a purpose and every reveal paid off.

If you love tightly plotted mysteries with emotional depth and a strong female lead, Forget Me Not is a must-read. I’m already looking forward to diving into more of Willingham’s work.

A 4 star thriller

I've loved every book I've read by this author and was excited for the chance to read this one early.

After her mom has an accident Claire moves back to her small town out of guilt. When it becomes evident her mother doesn't want her there in her childhood home she takes the opportunity to go work at a vineyard that her family has more ties to than she knows. While the book does have a bit of a slow start with building up the information about how her sister disappeared 2 decades ago it eventually picks up the pace and becomes a bit twisty - in the best possible way.

Told alternatively through present day Claire and a journal she finds stashed in her new 'work home' the story spans decades leaving little to the imagination by the end. While some of the 'twists' were as plain as day, one did get by me and as a reader I love when something slips by me in a thriller novel. That one thing definitely bumped a three star read up to a four as I star-rate thrillers by pace, how much I can root for the MC, and if I figure it out before the end. The pace was mostly great, Claire was likable enough, but I guessed a lot of things that I wish I hadn't.

Thank you to Netgalley for the e-arc!

i love stacy willingham!! her first two books were both 5 stars for me. but i think my expectations for this one were way too high! i liked the storyline and i read the book pretty fast, but i just wish it was more showing than telling. in the end there were so many names jumbled up that i got kinda confused? like i know what happened but felt kinda let down w/ the whole "plot twist." i enjoyed it for what it was and some of my predictions were right but i wish we got a little more explanation and more of marcia's diary in first person rather than third. i'll still read anything else stacy willingham writes and comes out with and will recommend this as an easy thriller to read/get through!

I love Stacy Willingham! Her books always suck me in. I loved how this book had a cult-feel to it! The diary entries told in the 3rd person POV threw me off a little and I still had some lingering questions when it was over, but overall- I loved it!

I also loved how the characters all felt like real people. Oftentimes they do not, but I felt like I could imagine each person clearly. I highly recommend this book when it comes out in August!

You’ve read the book’s blurb and maybe by now you recognize the author’s name. Yet for some reason, you’re reading this review to see if you should read her book. Stop reading the reviews and go get the book, already! Stacy Willingham knows how to write a thriller. Even when her audience recognizes she’s a master craftsman at a good twist or sharp turn in her storytelling, we will still gasp in delight as the tale unfolds in a new and revealing way. Expect no less from Forget Me Not.

Claire Campbell returns to her hometown to care for her injured mother, only to face the past she tried so hard to leave behind. Twenty-two years ago, Claire’s older sister Natalie disappeared and was presumed dead. While the case was closed and a man is currently serving time for the crime, Claire never felt she knew the truth in her sister disappearance. After years of living away, being home again brings up all the painful memories. With time on her hands, Claire decides to retrace that fateful summer by taking a job at a local vineyard where her sister worked. This decision will draw her deeper into the mysteries of the past. Stacy Willingham weaves a compelling narrative exploring the themes of loss, memories and the haunting draw of unanswered questions.
