This series just keeps getting better!

The drawings were taking my breath away, while the fast pacing enticed me to continue the book until it was over.

While some answers were left unanswered, I'm hopeful they will be answered in the next instalments, and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Thank you again to Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC, and my request is already pending for Volume 3.

I feel so bad for Avi, she takes all of Athalie's abuse and never sees how it is affecting her mental health, her thoughts and ideas, and her self-image.

What an ending! When is volume three coming out because I do not want to wait. I may have to go figure out how to find the Webtoon.

Once again, I love the illustrations and the color palette used in this graphic novel series.

One week after going to the family’s estate in the swamps, Camille is trying to figure out who she is. That is until her controlling Aunt Athalie calls her with a backhanded blindside, telling Camille she’s now the unhappy participant of an arranged marriage. She stands up for herself and discovers a power within her that was just waiting to come out, alongside all those pent up emotions. Now, with Dendro’s help, she must come to terms with her past and the two forms of magic she has flowing through her.

This is the second volume in the Muted series and I could not be more excited to read a graphic novel. The artwork is rich as good soil and as lush as the most vibrant tropical plant. The introduction of Dendro, the plant demon summoned by Camille, was a quirky addition that I couldn’t help but enjoy. Now I am rooting for a happy poly group to form and add even more queer love to the world. Looking forward to the big finish in the last volume!

Thank you to NetGalley and Ten Speed Graphic for the advanced reader copy!

Content Warnings:
Major - Emotional abuse, Fire/Fire injury, Blood, Grief

If it's even possible, I liked this volume more than the first one. Dendro is a new favorite character - that ending *tears* I cannot wait to see where the rest of this series goes. The suspense!

Muted: Vol. 2 returns to the life of Camille Severin, a young witch still recovering from loss and trauma as she learns how to love again. Having received troubling news from her cousin, Camille plots to save not only herself but her newfound family. She will go to no lengths to protect those she cares about. However, when things take a turn for the worse, Camille finds herself face to face with someone from her past. Someone who will stop at nothing until she’s dead.

Miranda Mundt has done it! I’m utterly obsessed with this series. Yet again, I’ve had to stop myself from binge-reading this graphic novel. They have such an addictive writing style, and their art style matches it beautifully. The plotting is well-paced, moves fluidly, and has me flipping pages faster than you’d think was humanly possible. The plot has built up to such a deep and emotional moment that I’ve been anxiously waiting for since reading Vol. 1.

We learn more about the world and the side characters in Vol. 2, and I have to say it's such a treat! Miranda Mundt breathes life into their characters, keeping the book from feeling stale or boring. We get to see the workings of characters' inner minds and how they respond to the situation at hand. I’m very much looking forward to seeing more in Vol. 3! I would highly recommend this series if you’re into found family, witches, LGBTQ+ characters, and horror.

Thank you to Ten Speed Press and NetGalley for the eARC.

This story just gets better and better!!!

I can't wait for the next parts. I really appreciate the mental health representation and overall how the author demonstrates emotions of characters. I do absolutely adore the drawings and the little background memes in this. The author mixes pretty hard themes with cutesy little moments which adds additional charm to the story!!!!

Yes. YEs. YES. Just like the first volume, the pacing of the story in Muted's second volume is perfect for a second volume of a graphic story. Readers are going to be just as invested (if not more!) than they were in the first volume and they will be screaming for the third volume the moment they reach the final page.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with this comic. Everything about this is perfect from the art to the characters to the storytelling and the nuances of giving every aspect of the story its respect.

4.5 stars

Thank you so much to Ten Speed Press for providing me with an e-ARC of this one.

This is such a fantastic continuation of the first volume. The stakes feel like they’re ramping up and I am absolutely hooked.

I NEED the next volume to find out if Camille and Nyra make it out okay and if Dendro is okay and just!!! There’s so much going on! I need more!!

Also the artwork continues to blow me away in this. It’s absolutely stunning.

I was promised non-monogamous sapphics in book one and here they are! I love the representation in this graphic novel and the story is amazing to boot! It just getting more complex with possessed girls, ones who are betrothed and don't want to be, dead family member's journals, and sweat joyful monsters from another dimension who are withering away! I need more of this story ASAP.

Loved volume two of this series. I can’t get over how stunning the illustrations are. The colors are so vivid and just pop off the screen. Looking forward to reading more of this story!

I love that we finally get to see what Camille's father looks like, and he's so darn cute!!! The artwork is just as stunning and beautiful as the first volume, and this books picks up right where the first one left off!

Athalie is just as horrible as she is in the first book—if not even more so. I really hope she gets what's coming to her. She's a horrible mother, and we see in this book just what she's capable of doing to those who she claims to love for the sake of her own idealogy.

I love that Camille is finally standing up for herself and fighting back. Healing is a long road, and finding out the truth about her past and dealing with more tradgedy doesnt help, but I think she'll get there in time now that she has people to support her and she's growing ino her powers.

I'm absolutely hooked on this story!! I love everything about it and I'm excited to see what will happen in volume 3. I definitely recommend reading this series!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is definitely my new favorite graphic novel series and I can't wait to devour them all! Dendro, the plant demon is also my new favorite character. This one felt more emotional than the previous one with her anxiety and self doubt. I think that is her true demon and will be able to defeat anything that comes her way once she has confidence and self love. Her childhood was ruined by the death of her mother and twin, on top of being raised by her aunt that is auctioning her off for marriage to the highest bidder. The cliff hanger on this one is even worse because I don't have volume 3!

Camille has been at the manor for a week without her controlling aunt until she finds out she has been arranged to be married. With the news she accidently blows up on her cousin causing a rift between them. Luckily Dendro, the plant demon is there to help her with her overpowering emotions and the new ability that comes with it. Camille is trying to get Avaline to join her at the manor because she feels she might be in danger. Camille and Nyra come up with a plan to rescue Avaline but everything may not go according to plan.

Muted: Volume 2 deepens the story in all the right ways. Miranda Mundt continues to deliver powerful visuals and emotionally rich storytelling that pulls you further into this haunting world. The characters grow in complexity, and the tension feels even more intense this time around. It’s beautifully moody, immersive, and full of quiet power. A standout continuation that leaves you wanting more.

How is it possible for this series to be 600 pages in and STILL not have very much happen or be explained? The artwork is still absolutely gorgeous, but the pace of the story is so agonizingly slow that I just have to give up on this series.

"Muted: Volume 2" is a mesmerizing sequel.

Miranda Mundt provides us with an entrancing story line that manages to provide more information about the character's backgrounds while equally leaving us with even more questions than answers.

I devoured this series in two days and I now anxiously await for the third one to be available (which I'm suspecting it may take a while XD).

All the characters keep winning my heart over and over again. Their beautiful designs and expressions are carefully crafted and incredibly appealing. I'm always surprised how the character's emotions are portrayed in the images, they're all so realistic.

I'm so invested!

I think this series is single-handedly getting me back into graphic novels hahah (Nyra girl hit me up).

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

I decided to pick up volume 2 even though volume one wasn’t my absolute favourite, simply because I was pretty curious how the story would develop. Unfortunately I had similar issues with this volume as the previous one.

The writing sometimes felt a little on the nose to me. As if we were being told that these characters care about each other, but I never really felt it. This is obviously a very personal thing so I’m sure that a lot of people may feel very differently about this aspect than I did. There’s just a bit of depth within the story that I find a little lacking.

I will say, the art is still really beautiful and there were several pages that I found very striking and beautiful.

For me, I do think this will be the final volume I read in this series, just because it’s not 100% my thing. I really do hope this finds its audience, so if the plot sounds intriguing to you, be sure to pick it up.

Muted Volume 2 beautifully follows on from Volume 1. Camille continues on her journey of personal growth with the help of Silvia, new ‘friend’ Nyra, and familiars Dendro and Toben. She grows the strength to confront both the demon that has been stalking her and her aunt that has tortured her. In turn, she confronts her fears and grief that have plagued her since her mother and sister’s deaths. Unfortunately, Avaline her cousin, is currently unable to break free from her mother and Camille must face the truth that it is not her responsibility as she has tried to help her cousin as best she can. I loved that her emotions are what makes her strong. Since people, particularly women, have been thought as lesser in society due to their emotions, I really enjoyed in this story that although overwhelming emotions can be debilitating at times – it is also what makes us strong and human. Camille has shown tremendous character growth and the side characters are well rounded and diverse. There are also sweet, light-hearted moments within the novel between characters, which makes the story even more enjoyable.
The art is beautiful and portrays the story wonderfully.
Thank-you to NetGalley, Publisher, and the author Miranda Mundt for this eARC.
