I think I enjoyed the conclusion to this witchy cartoon drama better than volume 1.
The best part about it is the graphics which are very expression in their facial features as well as eye catching. In book one I felt the story meandered a bit but this one was much more focused despite a lot going on.
I enjoyed watching things unfold and became much more engaged with the characters and the decisions they made.
If you’re looking for a fun supernatural graphic novel this due is coming out in July and October so give it a go!
I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary eARC from Ten Speed Press athrough NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

“Muted” is a very compelling story of magic, tragedy, hope and familial ties with all the drama such a combination could make. It includes a wonderfully diverse, engaging and dangerous cast of characters. The plot is both suspenseful and emotional. The artwork’s clean lines and wonderful colouring are a joy to look at. The dialogue is nicely lettered and easy to read. I greatly look forward to reading future volumes. My only suggestion would be to include a prologue to bring the reader up to speed (I was unable to read the first volume before reviewing Volume 2).

The second volume of the Muted series it's a nice and entertaining reading as the first installment, which, to be fair, I liked more.
The art style is still really beautiful, in particular in the chapter headings and in the pages in-between, and the story is starting to develop, however this time there was something lacking. Probably it was because it is a quite introspective volume, with Camille spending much of the time reflecting on herself, her life, her powers, who she truly wants to be, which is helpful to frame her development and how difficult it can be, but leaves everyone else and the understanding of the magical world she lives in behind.
Although I were less invested in it, I still enjoyed the book as it has a lot of potential. I am curious about where the story will go.

The story continues (so be aware there'sspoilers ahead!!): As Camille tries to dtay out of the clutvhes of her controlling aunt Attelie, you get to know a part of thhe truth behind the glasshouse fire thzt took out Camille's family. Her emotions are spiralling influencing her to summon a plant demon, Dendro. She is the cutest of demons ever! Anyway, if you want to find out if Camille's feelings for Nyra are reviprocated... read this second volume of Muted!!!
I love this series!!
The drawing style and colours, the characters, the action packed plot, lgbtqia+🌈, girls being badasses, the magic,... can't wait for the 3rd volume and will recommend this series to anyone who likes a fantasy graphic novel! Even tipped my local bookstores to stock up on this series!!
Muted vol.2 is out October 14th. Thank you Miranda Mundt, Tenspeed Press and Netgalley to trust me with and advanced readers copy. (All opinions in this review are my own.)
This review will be posted closer to the release date, end of september.

What an absolutely captivating journey! Muted, Volume 2 is a stunning continuation of Camille's story, deepening the rich world and complex characters we met in the first volume. This graphic novel masterfully weaves together themes of self-discovery, trauma, and the beautiful chaos of new relationships.
Camille's struggle to balance familial expectations with her own burgeoning power is incredibly relatable, and watching her develop an uncontrollable new ability in the face of her arranged marriage adds such a compelling layer of conflict. Her bond with Dendro, the plant demon, is both heartwarming and genuinely helpful, providing a grounding force as she grapples with her past.
The true heart of this volume, however, lies in Camille's relationships. The rift with Avaline is painful but realistic, and the budding romance with Nyra is simply enchanting. Their mission to New Orleans is fraught with unpredictable dangers and painful secrets, keeping you on the edge of your seat. The "found family" aspect is beautifully integrated, making this a truly inclusive and joyful read.
With lush artwork and a truly magical atmosphere, Muted, Volume 2 is everything you could want and more. The exclusive bonus chapter is the cherry on top of an already perfect read. If you're looking for a coming-of-age story with depth, magic, and genuine heart, this is an absolute must-read!

Really enjoyed the second installment and looking forward to the next. The characters are developing well, and the story is really starting to move along too. This volume is a beautifully drawn too. (I think I must be missing something with Web Toons, because a lot of really good graphic novels have come out of it!) Again, looking forward to the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Muted: Volume 2 by Miranda Mundt.
Muted: Volume 2 - my love grew more for the characters and the story with every page. Everything flowed nicely, and everything continued to make sense, there was nothing that I found myself confused over or sought more information on.
The development and exploration of Camille’s character is exceptional, in my opinion, having that gradual learning curve and acceptance (although still partial at this point in her story) makes her character more lovable and believable. Her relationship with Nyra and Dendro - and even their blooming friendship/something more with each other - all feels very natural. And Avaline, my sweet Avaline oh how her storyline is upsetting me but I love her.
The art style fits and flows in the panels so beautifully that it truly needs to be commended.

I am in love with the art for this series. In this volume especially it creates such an enchanting atmosphere. The story continues in an interesting way. The pacing feels a little bit off but it could be that I’m used to ready this one weekly. A high point of this volume is the relationship between the main character and her cousin. It artfully displays Camille’s guilt and conflict. I cannot stress enough how incredible the art is in this aspect. I’m excited to see the rest of the story adapted!

After reading Volume 1, I was really looking forward to continuing Camille's story. Volume 2 picks right back up where we'd left off and somehow manages to nearly immediately retain high stakes as Camille looks for a way to protect her cousin. It was really nice getting a lot more background info on not only Camille but the people around her, especially Dendro and Nyra. There was somehow a lot of information covered in this volume, giving us crucial character lore and changes in interpersonal relations, but the pacing felt a bit off in a way I can't quite put my finger on. The time span covered in this volume compared to the last is a much shorter time frame but so much is happening all of the time. The art was as good as in Volume 1 and had some great standout panels particularly during some of the later emotional scenes. Whereas at the end of Volume 1, I wanted the next part of the story in order to learn more about Camille now I'm left hoping to read Volume 3 in order to dig into not only Camille's story but the broader witch politics and more info on side characters and demons.
Thanks to NetGalley and Ten Speed Graphic for the ARC to review, all thoughts and opinions my own. As requested, reviews will be posted externally during the week of publish date across platforms.

I’m loving this story! I love the art style and the characters. I’m fully invested and I can’t wait for the next volume!

This is my second time reading Muted - I read it in the original webtoon format the first time. As an adaption of that format, I think it does a decent job updating the paneling for book readers. I feel the thoughts characters have is quite realistic, especially when it comes to grappling with anger, grief, and regret. It's always been really stellar at showing that. The art style is beautiful. However, this volume suffers from some awkward pacing that makes it feel like not much progress is made over the course of the volume, despite big events happening. Still worth a read imo (obviously, I've read it twice!)
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Teen Speed Graphic for the arc of this graphic novel!
Just like the first volume, Muted 2 completely pulled me in and I loved it! Miranda Mundt continues to deliver a story that’s rich in atmosphere, magic, and character growth. The world feels even more layered this time around, and the artwork is just as stunning, moody, expressive, and beautifully stylised.
The relationships deepened in really satisfying ways, and I loved seeing the emotional stakes rise. There’s a great balance of tension, tenderness, and intrigue that kept me turning pages. If you enjoyed the first volume, this is a must-read continuation, which of course I do not want to go into too much detail since this is volume 2!
Can’t wait to see where the story goes next!

Muted Volume 2 by Miranda Mundt was truly a beautiful and heartbreaking read. Camille finds herself struggling between finding herself and sacrificing herself more for those she loves. However, in this volume she seems to be on her way to finding herself more, but she can barely find control over her forbidden powers which poses another hurtle for her to overcome. Setting up boundaries (and not magical ones) is new for Camille, but she is finding her way through it. Dendro, Nyra, and her Aunt Sylvie are helping Camille along the way by providing her a strong foundation of care to stand on, but her Aunt Athalie still tries to weasel her way through to continue to control Camille and her cousin Avaline. I cannot wait to read the next volume for more! I found myself consuming this graphic novel in one day because I couldn’t bear to put it down. The story and the artwork are beautiful and it brings many good messages to the forefront.

I love how the story continues. the art stays amazing just like in the first novel. It seemed to take a bit more of a serious and exciting turn then the first volume which got me even more in a grip to keep reading. The situational face expressions are great to lighten the mood from time to time. I was sad to see that it already ended. I am already waiting for the third volume to come out!

Muted Volume 2 felt a bit different compared to volume 1. We learn a lot more about Camille's past, which is a welcome addition to the story. We also see her explore her powers and really grow as person. While the overall plot did move forward somewhat the pacing felt slightly off. Simultaneously a lot happened, but the overall plot didn't move forward all that much. Some parts felt like they were more there for exposition rather than woven into the story as was the case in the first volume.
As always the art is gorgeous and portrays the range of the character's emotions. It was good seeing Camille grow closer to both Dendro and Nyra. I'm ready for more answers like learning more about Athalie's past and her reasons for doing what she thinks is right. This mostly feels like one of those middle volumes that is setting up for what is next, and I am eagerly looking forward to volume 3!

Muted: Volume 2 picks up just after the last installment, and just as exciting, The plot thickens just as our protagonist finally gets a break, the characters are great. We get to know some very important backstories/lore, so I can't wait for the next volume please!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this graphic novel. While I did enjoy the continuation of the story, this volume fell a little short for me when compared to the first. It felt like an interlude before something big happens. I did like the exploration of the relationship between the cousins and the family dynamics involving the aunt. I have some…thoughts about that aunt smh. She is a piece of work.

I was so excited when I got the email from netgalley that I was approved for volume 2 after I fell in love with volume 1! I will say, volume 2 didn't feel as exciting to me. Not sure why, but it just felt like the stakes were lower.
I did enjoy seeing Camille and Nyra's relationship progress a bit! And I liked learning more about Dendro, and the demon following Camille!
I think that the ending felt a bit disappointing and I felt like it didn't wrap up all the way (hoping this means there will be a volume 3?)
I would like to see what happens to Aveline, more of Camille and Nyra's relationship, and more of the Leroux...
Overall I thought it was good, but not nearly as captivating as volume 1. Once again, the art was absolutely beautiful!

Volume 2 of Muted was just a stunning continuation of Vol 1. You begin to see the setup for relationships for Camille and you get to see some of her joy - but there is such a harsh juxtaposition in some of the darkness that this graphic novel holds.
As a long time lover of the Webtoon I love the updated illustrations, layout and that there are new panels I have not seen before. The very last bonus pages about Dendro's home planet were just so, so pretty. Dendro is my favourite character - and this volume is pretty heavy in her development which was just extra nice for me.
This volume gives you more of an insight on the demons found in the series and really sets up the big intrigue of who is the mastermind behind the deaths of Camille's family for new readers. It pulls you in and just makes you want to continue, and the final page before the cut to Dendro is just perfection.
I yet again highly recommend this to anyone who loves queer romance and dark stories. A+
I will say my downloaded copy had what looked like a layout error on page 171, unsure if that is just an error on my end though and I spotted a spelling mistake - but I'm certainly not a stickler for a single missed letter at the end of a word. This is more of a heads up to the publisher just in case.

I’m falling in love with these books and I’m in desperate need of the next one ! Some of the scenes in this book had be laughing out loud, had me feeling for these characters, had me loving these characters and wanting to protect them. I’m gonna need the next installment or I fear I might explode
