The Plot Twist is an absolute gem—funny, heartfelt, and brimming with charm. Eleanor Goymer takes the best parts of a romcom—sharp banter, swoony romance, and quirky twists—and combines them with a love letter to writing itself.

Allie is a lovable heroine whose struggles with writer’s block feel instantly relatable, and her unlikely partnership with Martin was one of my favorite parts of the book. Their dynamic—equal parts witty, tender, and inspiring—brought so much warmth, and I loved how Martin evolved into a true mentor and father-figure. The “switching plots” premise was clever and gave the story a unique, fresh spark.

And then there’s Will—the charming caterer who slides perfectly into Allie’s life, filling that hero-shaped gap with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. Their chemistry is delightful, and it’s balanced so well with Allie’s personal journey of growth and self-discovery.

This story has everything: laugh-out-loud moments, touching emotional beats, and a romance that leaves you grinning long after you’ve turned the last page. It’s a book for readers, writers, and anyone who loves the magic of stories—and the unexpected ways love can sneak into our lives.

Witty, warm, and wonderfully romantic, The Plot Twist is an instant favorite and a must-read for romcom fans.

Behind the scenes in publishing seems to be having a little moment in books currently and this one rings true in many ways, especially the writer’s block element. Allie - the blocked writer - has a host of men to see her through as she struggles to write her on-deadline book; the ex, the love interest, the mentor – and it all leads to a well-rounded story of self-discovery, re-finding one’s mojo and true love. An enjoyable read!

I had really high hopes for this one but had to DNF at 40%. Not enough was happening to make me intrigued and the FMC was irritating. I was expecting more romance and interaction between the two characters but so far it's mainly been the FMCs internal dialogue. Unfortunately this one isn't for me.

I really liked the character in this story. There was something about them that made me want to know more. But, honestly, I felt like I needed a deeper connection to fully get invested. It wasn’t that the character was bad – I just wished there was more emotional depth to make me care a little more.

That being said, the concept of the story was pretty great. The idea of swapping plots was a cool twist and honestly kept things interesting throughout. It was something I haven’t seen much of before, and it made the whole experience feel fresh. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I think with just a little more connection to the characters, it could’ve been even better.
