We’ve all known massive snorers or perhaps been the snorer ourselves. Snoring is frequently joked about but the disruption it causes to our sleep is no laughing matter.
In Snore Wars, Dr. Oko outlines the importance of sleep and addresses the issues preventing us from getting a good night’s sleep. This message is delivered by outlining the research into sleep and sleep disordered breathing, anecdotes from Dr. Oko’s career treating sleep disordered breathing and case studies. The informal, chatty style of writing will appeal to the layperson reading it.

There is an element of information being repeated frequently in the book. I found the fact that the author opens chapters of the book with quotes from himself a little cringy. As someone who has treated patients with sleep apnoea for over a decade, there are parts of the book that I don’t necessarily agree with, especially around mask fitting, but the understand I am not the target audience and elements have been simplified for a general audience.

Would I recommend this book? Yes if you are looking for initial information and case studies you can relate to, as well as information about sleep apnoea.

This book was silly but also helpful. I found myself laughing at some of the obvious tips but also realizing that people probably don't follow this.

A quick but robust read on sleep, snoring, sleep apnoea, and a couple solutions about it written by an ENT expert.
Finally, someone gets it (those who suffer from snoring loved and snorers) and gets this right.

A good book with lots of information more about sleep apnea which could be a life saver. The author takes you through step by step from doctor to sleep clinic. But this book doesn't help for people who just snore. Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this review ARC.
