This book set in the 1750s was a good read and a palette cleanser from what I typically read. I am not one to typically read historical romance so this was a nice change of pace for me. I also am not one to enjoy third person POV but this book was written in a way that it did not bother me. The disability representation with the MMC having clubfoot was great to read about especially from the point of view for the time period this book was written in. When requesting this book I wasn’t aware that the book was the second in the series so I believe I would have liked this book a little more if I had known that and read the previous book. I enjoyed the humor and banter and the way the book talked about heavy topics without being overly deep.

This book is a lot of fun! I enjoyed it thoroughly, even if it is somewhat predictable and the mystery part not the most mysterious out there.
That said, the romance was swooning, even if the main couple were a little insta-lovey. I listened to this audiobook in a busy time, and it was perfect for just turning my brain off and enjoying Georgina and Alexander’s (mis)adventures.
Georgina is a nice fmc; she is of her time, but still modern, and the back-and-forths between her and Alexander are hilarious and/or swooney.
Alexander is also a great Mmc, and I love the disabled rep he brings to the story!
I must also confess my love to the entire ‘fashion rooster’ subplot. It was hilarious.
The side characters were also nice, and the villain(s) made for an intriguing love story to say the least.
I do, however, also have some more negative critique. Firstly, the chapters are VERY long. Now, I don’t mind a long chapter every now and then, but a lot of the chapters could easily have been split into two. However, that’s a minor thing.
It would also have been nice to get to now the side characters better.
Further, the actual crimes are resolved pretty easily, where I wouldn’t have minded a few more complications, but honestly, I enjoyed the book nonetheless.
I listened to this book as an audiobook produced by Hachette Audio, narrated by Marisa Calin, and I enjoyed it a lot. Calin kept up a nice pace, making it possible to listen to the book while doing other things and still feeling the emotions of the characters and the story.
Overall, this is a great book for when you want to turn your brain off and just escape the real world into a regency romance with a touch of mystery.
3.5 stars rounded to 4.

Love the depiction of a character who has spent most of her life living on the outskirts of society and not used to being a part of a friend group as well as having a male mc who lives with a cane yet the fmc instinctively understands some of the more physical difficulties he deals with when it comes to supporting not only his frame but also hers. The audiobook narrator did a wonderful job of whisking me away to the point that I felt like I was just listening in to a conversation happening nearby. Her voice gave me the same vibes I get from actually reading a fun romp of a romance novel.

What a fun and fast paced historical romance for our dear Miss H!
Georgina and Alexander are both outcasts in their respective families but driven in their passions for life. Georgina was relegated to living with her cold step brother and sister in law while pursuing a secret career of archeological discovery. Alexander was born noble but with a deformity refused to accept he cannot be successful in "sport".
When Georgina's cousin who is Alexander's friend goes missing we get our cast of characters on the case. This was so fun to read that I devoured it while laughing and falling in love with most of the cast.....Alexander's parents are terrible 😒
If you enjoy books with animals in them pick this up, they are a cast in itself. All I can say is "Making Chickens a fashionable pet" 🤣🤣
I'm looking forward to continuing this fun series...can't wait to see what comes next ❤️

This book is a relatively fun romp with interesting characters, but there's too much focus on some aspects of the misogyny of the era while ignoring the other aspects. Being alone with men who are not members of her family would be just as damaging to the heroine's reputation as dressing as a man would. It was fine, but I won't seek out the other books in the series.

Lot's of fun!! This was a really fun mystery with likable characters. I encourage others to try it out! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

This has ended in a DNF for me, and I am quite upset about it. As usual, I review the audio version of books, and this is one of the (thankfully few) times the wrong choice of narrator has spoiled the entire listening experience. I feel bad reviewing not the book, but the narrator!
Ms. Calin has a distracting way of ending almost every sentence in a kind of...vocal tapering...? She starts normally, but by the end of each (EACH!) sentence has decreased to a near whisper.
I dislike a cadence in narrators and I write that too much, but AGAIN the cadence is so distracting! The listener starts out hearing a rhythm rather than words. It's sometimes difficult to mentally put that aside and concentrate on the story. I just began this one, so I still have time to get into that "just ignore it" mindset this issue requires.
If I get to chapter 3 and it's still a bother, I'll have to give this one a miss. It's so upsetting when a narrator with an otherwise enjoyable voice keeps me from finishing what is likely a VERY enjoyable book!
I've decided to set this one aside. I can't help but hear the odd way the narrator reads. That is a pity and very annoying as I think this book is one I might've liked a lot. (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ
As always, thank you to NetGalley for allowing me early access to this audiobook in exchange for a (brutally) honest review!

This book started slow for me. It was around the 30% mark where it really picked up, and I was intrigued as to where the story was going.
This is a slow burn, witty historical romance with mystery and a lot of fun. I found myself laughing a couple of times.
Georgina Harrington is a 25 year old unmarried archeologist. After her father’s passing, she was under the guardianship of her horrible half-brother and sister-in-law. They can’t wait to marry her off and will do anything to make that happen. Georgina was left a plot of land from her father and spends her time digging up antiques and letting her cousin Perry take the credit. After Georgina found a relic that caused her cousin to go missing, Georgina is desperate to find him and teams up with her cousin’s friend Alexander to do so.
Alexander is heir to a dukedom. Like Georgina, Alexanders family (mother and father) treats Alexander less than because of a disability he was born with. Alexander’s parents are desperate to find him a wife with a strong blood line to produce an heir to right the family name they believe Alexander put shame on for his disability and his sister’s marriage to a Doctor.
Georgina and Alexander are both strong in their own ways, and because of that, they are an unstoppable force. They both break the social norms and get everything they deserve in the end.
I received this as an audio book, Marissa Calin did a great job at narrating and made it easy to keep track of who was talking by which voice she used. The audio is clean, I really enjoyed listening to this narration.
Thank you, Hachette Audio and Forever Publishing, for this audiobook.

Our Dear Miss H is on the Case by Violet Marsh is a delightful mix of mystery, romance, and rebellion that will have you swooning and laughing all the way through😍 thanks to the AMAZING audio production that transports you into the story!
Georgina, an intelligent archaeologist, is living in a world where women’s work is often overshadowed by their male counterparts. Her cousin Percy gets all the credit for her discoveries, and let’s just say, the world isn’t exactly kind to Georgina. 😤 Enter Alexander, a brooding and scarred future duke (who is so much more than his exterior suggests 😏), and you've got an unlikely duo ready to uncover family secrets and save the day. 🕵️♀️🕵️♂️
As Georgina begins her search for her missing cousin, the chemistry between her and Alexander is undeniable... but neither one wants to admit it! Their attempt at repressing their feelings is both hilarious and swoon-worthy—especially when a few passionate kissing scenes speak louder than words. 💋🔥
Georgina’s undercover mission in pants (YES, pants! 🎉) is a revelation, and it’s amazing to see her embrace her freedom and defy expectations. As the two of them confront past traumas, there are some truly sweet, heartwarming moments that will have you cheering for them. 🥰
But it’s not just Percy that Georgina needs to save—she’s also fighting to protect the home her late father left her from her greedy brother, who may be involved in a cult plotting something sinister 🤯 Will Georgina and Alexander be able to crack the case and save Percy... and maybe their hearts too?
With a perfect blend of light suspense, romance, and laugh-out-loud moments, total winner, absolutely loved it! Thank you NetGalley for making this production available for review!

This was a cute and breezy listen. Which was perfect for a day when my brain needed something light and low stakes. The romance is a classic slow burn, but also kind of a head-scratcher... they’re constantly fighting it and constantly making out? Pick a lane, folks! Still, it was fun enough, and I absolutely adored the supporting animals. They honestly stole the show. Not a forever favorite, and I don’t think I’ll go back and read the first book but a sweet little distraction when I needed one.

I very much enjoyed both this lighthearted mystery romance and the first in the series. The characters are very likable and you are rooting for them the whole way through the book. I found the romance portions well-written. The plot moves quickly and there is a great mix of action, mystery, and romance scenes. Overall - a fun read and I will look forward to the next in the series.

A very cute, fairly fast-paced read, Our Dear Miss H Is On The Case follows a side character from Lady Charlotte Always Gets Her Man and keeps up the fun energy with two new romantic leads! This was great on audio! I thought the story and the character growth (particularly for our lead, Georgina Harrington) was really sweet as she comes into her own with archeology and discoveries.
If you want something lighthearted with a bit of mystery and intrigue (Georgina's cousin and confidant, Percy, is missing!), with a sweet, somewhat slow burn romance, then you should give this one a go! Though it is somewhat a second book, it works just fine as a standalone!
Thanks to Netgalley, Forever, and Hachette Audio for the e-ALC!

I'm here to tell you, yes, read it. It is fabulous. There is a little bit of everything in this story, executed in the best of ways. With storylines that include dealing in antiques, a mysterious disappearance, hidden agendas, and families trying to arrange marriage for ill gotten gains, this story is fast paced, exciting and loads of fun to read. It reminded me why I love the mixed genre of historical mystery and romance.
The characters in this book were so loveable and brought to life by the narration. I truly enjoyed listening to this one and will likely pick up the print version and read it again.

I enjoyed listening to this highly entertaining historical romance/mystery! I thought the narration was performed well and kept my interest throughout the story. An enjoyable listen!

A delightful, historical fiction mystery with bits of romance and comedy.
You will become completely invested in this cozy adventure!
The main characters, humans and animals alike, quickly feel like old friends that you’re rooting for.
Filled with fun twists, meaningful insights, found family, female empowerment, and love.
If you enjoy stories like Enola Holmes, Miss Fisher, Miss Scarlett, or Bridgerton… this is the perfect read to check out next!
The beginning of the book felt a bit slowly paced, but once the scene had been set and the adventure began, the pacing was perfection!
The voice actor does an excellent job in depicting each unique character with the audio production feeling seamless.
The first few chapters, the narrator pacing felt rushed, but quickly settled into a natural rhythm.

An awesome audiobook. The narrator did a great job. I really enjoyed the mystery and there were some funny parts. I look forward to more in this series.

The narrator was a good choice to tell this story.
This story wasn't for me at this time. It wasn't; holding my attention and I lost what was going on. I may give this book another chance at a later time.
I didn't know this was the second in the series and maybe I should read the first to better understand the characters.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

More historical romance! The genre is most certainly not dead! But OUR DEAR MISS H. IS ON THE CASE by Violet Marsh just came out and does have an element of mystery if that’s your jam! The main character is the brains and true author behind scientific and archaeological writings in her cousin Percy’s name, because a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do in a man’s world. When Percy and her most recent artifact find go missing, she enlists an unlikely ally (enemies to lovers!!!) to help her find him. Highly recommend and it was a great time on audio!

I enjoyed this audiobook SO MUCH! I loved the plot-it felt very original and unpredictable! I also loved the fast-pace of the romance and book itself! the narrator did an incredible job of bringing out each characters personality! and ugh-Alexander is the sweetest and most charming MMC!! loved it!

The book itself was interesting, but there wasn't enough romance for me to consider it a pure romance book. I loved how the FMC was so independent that she had to realize that she could love the MMC while still being herself. I also appreciated that the MMC didn't wallow in his struggles with his club foot and family.
The narration left a lot to be desired. I felt that this would have been much better as a dual narration, since there were many points where the MMC was speaking, it was weird to hear that in a female voice.
