A good book that quickly caught my attention. Scottish nurse Sorcha is in London for two reasons - to apply for a job at one of its hospitals and to get to know her birth mother. When her time with her mother implodes, she decides to return home. Her trip is interrupted when her train is cancelled, and she encounters a man with a medical emergency. Richard, an ER doctor, joins her in her efforts. After the crisis, they share dinner and an unexpected night of intimacy. Sorcha flees the next morning when she discovers Richard is married. A couple of months later, Sorcha accepts the job she applied for and learns she will be working with Richard. Their reunion is awkward, with Sorcha understandably hurt and angered by his actions.
I ached for Richard, who is in a heartbreaking situation. I liked how he cleared the air with Sorcha about that night and where he stands, but it doesn't solve their problem. Matters become more complicated when they discover that Sorcha is pregnant. Now they must figure out how to coparent their baby while fighting their chemistry and growing feelings for each other.
I enjoyed watching Richard and Sorcha work through the obstacles that kept them apart. It isn't easy, and each must face their own troubled pasts before they have a chance for a life together. Their support for each other eased their way, and I loved seeing them navigate their way through the obstacles. The ending was very well done and realistic.

This is an emotionally charged, right-man-wrong-time romance that delivers on both drama and heart. Carol Marinelli skillfully weaves a story of missed chances, complicated pasts, and the life-changing surprise of an unexpected pregnancy.
Sorcha is a sympathetic heroine—vulnerable but strong—as she navigates not only a painful encounter with her birth mother but also the aftermath of a brief, passionate night with ER doctor Richard. The revelation of Richard’s marital status adds a punch of heartbreak, and the story doesn’t shy away from the emotional complexity that follows. Their workplace tension crackles with chemistry and unresolved feelings, made even more compelling by the looming reality of parenthood.
Richard is a layered character, caught in a no-win situation yet desperate to do the right thing. His journey toward redemption and responsibility is one of the book’s strengths.
Ultimately, this is a heartfelt medical romance about love, consequences, and second chances.

Her Nine Month Surprise by Carol Marinelli is a right man, wrong time story with a consequence. Sorcha is in London to apply for a nursing job at the hospital, but more importantly, trying to connect with her birth mother. When things go south with the birth mother, Sorcha decides to return home. At the train station she discovers a man having a medical emergency, immediately giving CPR until ER doctor Richard appears to help. Afterward the two share dinner and an unexpected night of passion. Awaking the next morning, Sorcha learns that Richard has a wife. Devastated, she flees. After being offered and taking the job at the London hospital, Sorcha learns that she will be working with Richard. Tensions rise despite the chemistry sparking between these two as together they learn of an unexpected consequence of the evening together months before. Richard is in a no win situation, dealing with a painful past but wanting more than anything to be there for Sorcha and their baby. It might just take a few miracles before that can happen.

This was a very quick read, I just unfortunately only had an okay time with it. I don’t mind the “surprise pregnancy” trope, it was more the background storyline involving the MMC that I didn’t really jive with.
I don’t think the story was awful, I just don’t think it was great either.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the eARC for my honest review.
