Coy Tedford is a retired bull rider who’s traded the rodeo circuit for quiet days working at his family’s campground in Coronado, Arizona. Since his wife Becky kicked him out, he’s been drifting—unsure of his purpose, except that he knows one thing: he wants her back. When Becky unexpectedly returns to town for the summer, now a veterinarian and carrying divorce papers, Coy is jolted into action. What starts as a standoff soon becomes a slow, hopeful journey of rediscovery.
Becky, torn between her obligations to her family’s ranch and her own career, is equally unsure of what she wants. As the two navigate the complex emotional terrain of their failed (and secret) marriage, they begin to understand what went wrong—and what might still be right between them. Both are strong, stubborn characters, which makes their emotional growth all the more satisfying to watch.
This is a story grounded in realism, especially around the theme of miscommunication—a problem that derails many relationships. With a warm small-town setting, endearing animals (especially the horses!), and an authentic emotional core, Her Hometown Bull Rider is a heartfelt and quietly powerful second-chance romance that explores what happens when two people grow up—just a little later than expected—and realize love deserves a second look Overall it is a sweet, uplifting read about second chances, personal growth, and finding your way home—to both a place and a person.

Her Hometown Bull Rider by LeAnne Bristow is a lovely story of two people entering adulthood, maybe a little later than they should have. Coy is a retired bull rider. He had returned home to his father’s campground where he is doing general maintenance under the supervision of his cousin who is running the store. Both had been their grandfather’s and been passed down. Coy has been there ever since his wife kicked him out. He didn’t have plans, except not to go back to rodeoing. He didn’t really get why she’d kicked him out but he wanted her back. And then, all of a sudden, there she was. Becky was a vet now and worked for the summer nearby. The only bad news was in the envelope she handed him. Divorce papers. He crumpled them up. She was in Coronado more than in the office, so her let her stay in one of the empty cabins. He didn’t see her as often as he had hoped. Then it came to him what he wanted to do. He cleared the desk and the wall and started a brainstorming board. He was excited for the first time in years.
Becky’s parents owned a ranch and her father wanted her to take over for him when the time came. She struggled with that. As time when on she began to understand what had gone wrong in her marriage and why. No one knew they were married so things should be easier than they were. Both strong characters, it is no wonder they struggled. It was a realistic story about something that plagues many relationships: lack of communication. Coy’s excitement over this ideas for the campground excited most that heard them, and he was sticking to his plan. It was exciting. What a fun read this was, watching these two grow up and find their ways back to each other. Good read. Good characters, good plot, excellent setting. Love those horses!

Her Hometown Bull Rider is the fifth title in the Coronado, Arizona series, and brings us Becky’s and Coy’s often tumultuous romance. In love with Coy and secretly married, Becky had followed her husband on the rodeo circuit until it became too obvious to ignore any longer that Coy loved the rodeo more than he loved her. She packed his bags and moved on.
Time has passed, and now Becky is filling in for the local veterinarian and has a secret mission; it’s time to end this marriage. She wants a divorce. Coy is no longer part of the rodeo scene; he has returned home to the family campgrounds where he’s building a different life. Losing Becky was a wake-up call that came a bit too late.
I enjoyed Her Hometown Bull Rider by Leanne Bristow. Two people realize that love takes work, and when only one is willing to do that, well, it’s time to move on. Watching them reconnect, re-evaluate what they mean to each other, and finally get the happy ending they’ve always deserved was a delightful journey. I admit, there were times when I wanted to reach into the story and give them each a stern talking to… but, frankly, when I feel that way, it just tells me I’m completely engaged in the happiness of this couple. If you love a well-written, emotional, sometimes angst-filled romance with believable characters that you’ll want to see work out their differences, then you’d love this one.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own.

Veterinarian Becky Maxwell to Coronado, Arizona, she has just finished her degree and is going to fill in for the town veterinarian for the summer. Coy Tedford has been living in town now for a few months and working at the family campground. At one time Coy and Becky for inseparable until it fell apart. Coy is no longer a bull rider and has retired, but Becky has difficult time believing he will not return to the traveling lifestyle. Becky at one time followed him everywhere and took care of all his traveling and managing his career.
Coy is still in love with Becky and is heartbroken when she left his suitcases outside their apartment months ago. Can he get her to open up and give him another chance.

Very cutie! This is a perfect little summer read.
Spoiler ahead!!!
I liked Becky a lot and loved that she was a vet. Coy (although having a character arc) was annoyingly clueless. The way he treated Becky in the past but was somehow all-in on the marriage even though he did absolutely nothing to repair it before it broke was hard for me to jive with. The boy was a dreamer and turned likable but I'm not sure I ever really connected enough to not be a tinnnny bit annoyed until the very end.
I understand this take may be a little too critical of me and honestly is a likely a pretty good representative of a real man and not the book boyfriends I dream of.
