This was a gripping, twisty read that had me hooked from the start! My Loving Husband is a domestic psychological thriller that slowly builds tension until it explodes with secrets and shocking reveals. The story follows Maddie, who begins to question everything when she gets a message warning her that her husband might be trying to kill her. With the story told from multiple perspectives—Maddie, her husband Cole, and their daughter Ellie—it gives a deeper look into the cracks forming in their perfect family life.
I really enjoyed the suspense and the way the author kept me second-guessing every character. There were a few slower moments, but it all paid off by the end. Sheryl Browne knows how to write an addictive thriller, and this one didn’t disappoint. Full of drama, lies, and tension, it’s a perfect read for fans of domestic thrillers that keep you guessing.

Reading in Between the Wines book review #35/125 for 2025:
Rating: 3.5 🍷🍷🍷
Book: My Loving Husband
Author: Sheryl Browne
AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Sipping thoughts: I was so engaged in this book. It started off strong and then slowed down a little bit to a slow burn. One of the characters was insufferable, and I wanted her to get her comeuppance. There were a lot of twists and turns and switches in the story I did not expect. It read as domestic suspense, and I enjoyed the multi-person point of view. I always enjoy Sheryl Browne books, and this one was right up there.

Cheers and thank you to @Netgalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @MyLovingHusband.

This one is an intriguing and engaging psychological thriller. It’s cleverly written and keeps you guessing throughout. It has a well developed storyline and characters. The characters are likeable for the most part but like any good thriller there are some despicable characters. Just when you think you know where it’s going your sent another way and all your hard work goes out the window. There is many a twist and turn. The storyline moves at a steady pace and gives you just enough to keep you engaged. The outcome is definitely not where I thought it was going 😉…

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review #MyLovingHusband

I couldn't put it down. Twists, turns, red herrings, it has it all. Absolutely fantastic story. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

This book was pretty good. I didn't realize the twist until I got more into the book. The Author did a good job hiding it through the first part of the book. I found Maddie's character to be strong at first but towards the end I wanted to shake her. I really did enjoy this book though and would recommend it to others.

My Loving Husband started out with us questioning if Maddie's husband a renowned neurosurgeon (hello Derek Shepard) is cheating on her. Maddie receives a mysterious text about her husband cheating and plotting to kill her, this proceeds to ignite the fire for the rest of the book. Told in dual perspectives of Maddie, Cole (husband) and their oldest daughter Ellie. This is more a domestic suspense story I would find rather then a thriller. The twist I caught early on but as this is a domestic suspense I wasn't expecting a big reveal or twists to change the story up. This is all about how the choices you make affect the people around you. Its a story of family and telling the truth. I did find myself rather bored until the end. I wanted the story to wrap up as I felt it was a bit drawn out. A bit more character development would have made this story a bit more believable as well. Overall it was a good story to curl up with and get away from my own problems into someone else's problems! lol

My Loving Husband is such a brilliant psychological thriller that I ended up reading it in one sitting. It’s one of those books you will not be able to put down once you start it. Well I certainly couldn’t I was that engrossed in each chapter. I love a book with unexpected twists and this one had plenty of them. Of course I was sure I had it all sussed about half way through and was feeling quite proud of myself but I was completely wrong, I love this in a book when I think I know the outcome but the author has tricked me . This book had me in a head spin at times and I found myself not knowing who to trust or believe. From start to finish this was a perfect psychological thriller that pushed all the buttons for this genre

Thank goodness I read this book in the sunshine, which was the perfect antidote to Sheryl Browne’s latest psychological thriller.

Sheryl is a go to author for me and I jumped at the chance of an early read without reading anything about the book beforehand.

Imagine you’re part of a happily married couple and then every moral and value you’ve based your family life on is tried and tested - the very foundation of family life rocked on its axis.

This was an absolutely intense read that pulled at the heart strings, it is a multi-faceted story that centres around the family. Maddie props up the family, wife of Cole and mother to three gorgeous children - Ellie and twins Jayden and Lucas. They are used to the long and unpredictable hours that Cole works as a neurosurgeon, it is the norm, the status quo of their lives, accepted and never questioned until Maddie starts to get some very strange messages at the same time as Ellie starts to retreat into herself both of which makes Maddie begin to question everything she thought was true.

Sheryl Browne has pitched the tempo of this book like a storm rising in the ocean with the waves gently rolling in until they are crashing the beach in the wildest storm imaginable. It was ironic that I was sat in the sun near a surfers beach whilst reading this book! My opinion of the characters alternated between loving them to disliking them immensely and everything inbetween. there are so many twists and turns with the characters and their lives inter-twined, some obvious, others I had no clue about. It was definitely an adrenaline rush read for me,

This is another book that built momentum, I found myself reading quicker wanting to get to the end in order to get to the truth! Another Sheryl Browne story where a happy, connected family become separate entities repelled from each other like magnets. A twisted story that has reality at the heart of it - so many incidents and things that makes everyone question the truth. Keyboard warriors tapping out their poison, through and lies so intrinsically entwined it was impossible to know who to trust or what to belief.

Thank you so much Sheryl for writing another totally absorbing read that fully engaged my vivid imagination and sense of judgement - a story that once again shook my values to the core. Oh to open up your mind and look inside, I’m not sure where you get your inspiration and I think I probably don’t want to know either.

I read a lottt of domestic thrillers, so it takes something extra to really keep me on edge—but this one delivered.

From the outside, Cole seems like the golden husband: a successful surgeon, picture-perfect family, the works. But from the very beginning, you can feel that something’s...off. And then comes *that* anonymous message: “Your husband is planning to kill you.” Uh, what!?

I was hooked. Just when I thought I had a handle on where it was going, the story flipped again. It’s twisty, unsettling, and taps into that creeping fear of not really knowing the people closest to you.

4 stars from me—definitely enjoyed the ride. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC!

I am a seasoned reader of Sheryl Browne, this is my 10th book by her, and she never lets me down and once again she definitely didn’t with this book. Completely deserved 5 stars…. What a story!!

Cole Chase is an eminent specialist Neurosurgeon and thought very highly of at the hospital he works at. Maddie, his wife, is very proud of him, and they are still very much in love even after being married for 18 years. With their three children, Ellie and twins Jayden and Lucas, Maddie feels they have built a good life together. However, when one night when Cole is working later due to an emergency at work, Maddie gets a WhatsApp message from an unknown number saying, “Are you sure your husband is where he says he is tonight?” and then a few days later a phone call saying, “He’s lying, Be careful”, Maddie starts to worry. When Maddie raises both the message and phone call Cole easily dismisses them both as just a hoax or crank caller but then a more sinister message arrives saying, “Do you realise your husband is planning to kill you?”. Cole starts to behave strangely but before Maddie has the chance to talk to him about these further messages, phone calls and his strange behaviour, he gets a call from his mother saying she’s had to call an ambulance as his father isn’t well. His father and he haven’t had a good relationship as he was emotional and physically abusive, not only to Cole’s mother, but to Cole as well. Despite the conflict of interest, he ends up in theatre with his father trying to save his life. Unfortunately, Cole’s father dies, and an investigation is launched which means Cole’s career is on the line. At the same time Maddie discovers evidence that seems to point to Cole cheating on her…. When Cole’s mistress starts sending Maddie death threats, Maddie feels she has no choice but to go to the police and report her for herself and her children’s sake. With Cole, Maddie and their children’s life in tatters what other secrets will come out now the police are involved?! And is Maddie getting the full story about Cole’s infidelity?!

What a great read this was! I absolutely adored hearing the story from the different characters, I really felt for Ellie and would have happily punched Luke for her. It’s amazing how Sheryl Browne can make me have such feelings about a completely fictional character, brilliant writing. I also loved the characters of both Ellie and Maddie; Ellie because, being a teenager still trying to find her way into adulthood, she behaved very maturely and I loved her mum Maddie, for trying her very best to keep her family together and protect her three children at all costs. I was suspicious about one character right from the very beginning however I did find myself flipflopping over whether I thought they were bad or not, and I enjoyed that as I wanted to be surprised. All the theories that I came up with were totally wrong and this shows just how good a job Sheryl Browne did.

Overall, another smashing story from Sheryl Browne, she did an excellent job and deserves nothing less than 5 stars for this read. I highly recommend this for any psychological thriller fans, you will not be disappointed!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sheryl Browne and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Who doesn't love a Sheryl Browne book? She's fast become one of my immediate read authors!

Maddie and husband Cole both work within the medical sector and appear to have the perfect life... although life behind closed doors tells a different story.

Is he having an affair or IS he planning on killing the woman he professes he loves?

I love a good thriller that throws up questions like this. They're usually followed with secrets and lies and truth always outs eventually.

The pace is fast, it's twisty, has some great characters and an ending that completely bulldozed me!

An intense and entertaining thriller.

I really enjoy Browne’s psychological thrillers. I’m drawn in right from the start, and then kept interested in the book all throughout. Browne gives us a slower build up, and then all of a sudden the pedal gets pushed down and the story and the action take off and high speed!

This book is filled with secrets, lies, and deception. Did I suspect who was behind the messages that Maddie was receiving? Yes, and I was right. But there was a few other twists and turns that I did NOT see coming at all. So while I was able to guess one of the twists, not being able to guess them all means that I was surprised and shocked, which is always a great thing when I read a thriller book.

I enjoyed that we got different perspectives of the characters in the book, and the fact that the book stayed in the present. It really all helped with how nicely the book flowed. It made it so easy to follow. Oh, and THAT ENDING!!!! What an ending!!! I can’t wait to read another book by this author, because I really do enjoy them!

My Loving Husband
by Sheryl Browne
Pub Date: Apr 07 2025

My Loving Husband is an intensified and unhinged psychological thriller packed with secrets, lies, danger and lots of plot twists that will keep you guessing and wondering who to trust. A very toxic read! It kept me turning the pages until the chilling ending! This was my first book by Sheryl Browne and I look forward to reading more in the future.

Synopsis: I take a sip of coffee as I plan my day. My surgeon husband, Cole, slept at work last night, so I had to get the kids ready on my own, again. I can’t complain, though, I’ve loved him ever since we met, long before he became a famous surgeon and the papers started calling him the pride of the hospital. Now, as my phone buzzes on the glossy white kitchen island, I read the message from a withheld number, and nothing could have prepared me for what it says. Your husband is planning to kill you…You might think you know what I do next, but you’ll be wrong, because Cole isn’t the most dangerous person in this family…

Thank you #MyLovingHusband #NetGalley and #Bookouture for providing me an E-ARC of this 5 star psychological thriller!

A physcological thriller, this was a page turner! Cole is a prominent surgeon and Maddie his wife a paediatric nurse. They have a great life.
Then Maddie starts receiving text messages of an unknown number about her husband. Who is sending them and why? Things escalate further and the messages become more personal, indicating Cole is having an affair and is planning to kill her, is he really plotting that? This book had me mesmerised and I certainly didn't see that ending coming. Highly recommend

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for My Loving Husband' by Sheryl Browne.

Wow!!! What did I just read!!! What twists and a half fair play, I most certainly was NOT expecting any of that!!! Anyway, we shall return to that!!! This book is extremely well written and completely drew me in from start to end. The synopsis, title and cover worked perfectly with the storyline.

Yet another absolutely addictive psychological thriller by this absolutely incredible author!!!

The storyline was extremely compelling and I was completely addicted from the beginning starting with a prologue putting my heart in my throat to absolutely explosive ending!!! I started it this morning and finished it in a day!! It was filled with mysteries, drama, family, secrets, cover ups, twists, lies and surprises and and had me completely absorbed throughout. This book ticked absolutely every single box!!! It was filled with suspense, lies, twists, heartbreak, deceit and shocks!! It had me on tenterhooks on the edge of my seat and biting my nails to get to the truth. I absolutely loved how it completely shocked me at the end!! There's not much worse in a book than when you have already figured out what is going on by 50%!! This book is told from multiple perspectives which gives the reader a huge insight into what is going on and how the different characters are feeling without giving too much away and Sheryl weaves the different chapters told by the different characters together perfectly at just the right times. It really is one of those books that I kept telling myself one more chapter as I was walking around with the kindle glued to my hand but each and every time the chapter ended in a way that there was no chance I could end there so I just had to read another and another until I completely devoured it in one sitting in the end!!! The storyline is multi-layered, twisty, complex, suspense rammed and just seriously everything you could ask for when looking for a show stopper!!! Honestly just grab your copy now and I can promise you will not regret it!!! This book is not only an epic psychological thriller filled with twists and turns that I would have never expected all the way to the end. A huge well down to you Sheryl you should be extremely proud of yourself!! I would love to see this book turned into what would promise to be a massive hit movie!!

Absolutely addictive, unputdownable and most definitely EXPLOSIVE!!!

The characters were vivid, realistic, unique and very compelling. Throughout the book I liked, disliked and questioned most of the main characters unsure of who was to blame and who was doing what wrong and right. After I had done all that I was still wrong!!! Sheryl's fantastic evocative and emotive descriptions really does ensure the characters and what they are thinking and feeling jump out of the pages at the reader. This really is one of those books who you really have no idea who to trust and because I have finished the book I have different feelings on some of them so I won't say anymore as I don't want to risk dropping any hints that may spoil the storyline for future readers. However I do want to say a HUGE Well done Sheryl!!! Sheryl has created the perfect eclectic mix of strong and realistic characters came together to make this book a real page turner!!! Each of them played their parts perfectly and Sheryl's evocative writing skills really did bring each one of them to lore!!!

This book would make a truly captivating movie which I would love to see and I am definitely looking forward to reading more books by Sheryl. Congratulations Sheryl on yet another amazing read!!! Here's to your next success 🥂

This is exactly why Sheryl is one of my favourite authors. I love every book yet she still manages to make them better and better which is not an easy feat!!

Overall a page turning, gripping and addictive psychological thriller that will shock you at times and break your heart on others!!

Perfect husband...or perfect liar?

You won't know who to trust in tense psychological thriller. Everyone is just a little bit mad, with the exception of the twins and Ellie.

Maddie has been married to successful and highly respected neurosurgeon Cole for 18 blissful years with three children Ellie (17) and twins Jayden and Lucas (6). But the nature of his profession sees him rarely spend a moment at home, always on call and working late at the hospital. Maddie is an agency nurse so she understands the demands of his work and that of the NHS, and its inadequacies. But lately Cole has seemed distracted, often angry. And Maddie begins to wonder - should she be scared of her husband?

When she begins to receive anonymous text messages - alluding to her husband not being where he says he is, that he is a liar and then that he is planning to kill her - Maddie first wonders who is behind the messages and then if there is any truth to them? As the messages continue, the intent is clear. Cole is having an affair and is planning to leave her for this woman...or do away with her, should he have to.

When Maddie first broached the subject with Cole, he dismissed the messages as a crackpot but suggested she take them to the police. Goodness knows why she never heeded that advice. Silly woman. Could have saved herself and her family a whole lot of bother. But no. Instead she took the bait and began to believe the messages and in the end threw Cole out.

Now there is a whole lot of crazy going on in this book. Even Ellie began a little deranged but in the end she was probably the only voice of reason present. The accusations, the threats, the bitchiness, the abuse, the tirades...OMG! drama central! Brimming with secrets, deception, tension and threats, I just wanted to slap the stupid out of everyone. For goodness' sake, Maddie was willing to believe an anonymous messenger over her husband of 18 years? She was willing to throw everything away on the word of some threatening messages? She wouldn't even give Cole the chance to defend himself and then when he finally humbled himself to confess what he had been keeping from her, she didn't believe him? Why not? What made the ludicrous ramblings of some delusional seem so rational over Cole's almost unlikely story? I say almost because I believed him at once. I believed him from the start. I didn't think he was guilty of anything that he was being accused of.

And the characters? Grade A crazy nutjobs, the lot of them. I didn't sympathise with Maddie at all. I thought she was unreasonable to not even give her husband, who she'd been married to for 18 years, some benefit of the doubt and listen to him without going off half cocked over the ramblings of the said delusional text messenger. I was frustrated beyond measure at her behaviour.

Another crazy read by Sheryl Browne that will leave you annoyed and a little irritated with the characters but satisfied with the end, all the same. As always, I wonder what she has in store for us next.

I would like to thank #SherylBrowne, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #MyLovingHusband in exchange for an honest review.

The book started out with promise, with the mysterious messages, a seemingly perfect marriage, and an undercurrent of danger. It was more of a psychological drama than a thriller, and I wish it had stayed that way. I was intrigued, especially by the psychological depth of the characters. But the story dragged. It felt too long, too repetitive, like it kept circling the same plot point without really moving forward. The entire narrative hinges on a miscommunication, and after a while, that got frustrating. The ending was way too rushed. I had to read it twice, and I’m still not sure I fully understood what happened. For a book that took its time getting anywhere, it sped through the conclusion in a way that left me unsatisfied. Still, the character psychology part worked for a time.

ARC Review: My Loving Husband by Sheryl Browne

4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Wow, this book took me on a ride. From the first chapter, I was hooked—and the suspense seriously didn’t let up until the very last page. Sheryl Browne knows how to keep you second-guessing everyone, including the person you think you can trust the most.

The story centers around a seemingly perfect couple whose marriage starts to unravel, and the deeper you go, the more disturbing things get. There are some really sharp insights here into gaslighting, emotional manipulation, and the masks people wear. I had a theory or two early on, and while I did guess one of the twists, it still landed hard.

This is the kind of domestic thriller that keeps you flipping pages late into the night. Super tense, emotionally charged, and just dark enough to leave you feeling a little uneasy (in the best way). If you like your thrillers twisty and psychological, definitely give this one a go!

"Your husband is planning to kill you…"

You might think you know what I do next, but you’ll be wrong, because Cole isn’t the most dangerous person in this family…

This read was enjoyable and fast paced...however, that came at a fault in the ending for me. When the ending came it felt rushed and needed a few holes filled. Overall, the read was engaging and felt similar to some of the popular thriller works right now (McFadden) while still holding some concept of originality. Overall, I am thankful for the ARC read from Netgalley and found the book to be something I would reach for again.
