I've been reading this series for almost a year and a half, waiting not so patiently for each release. I-marked-the-release-day-on-my-calendar kind of excitement. So you can imagine how special this series is for me.

After reading the third book and seeing Bruce's reaction to meeting Farrah (Go read Betrothal or Breakaway!!!), I couldn't stop thinking about how incredible a romance between them would be. He was speechless! The boyish funny goalie and the captain's little sister that just got divorced? Amazing!
But what I didn't expect was that they had a past. More specifically, the night before, they shared the best kiss of their lives, but not their names. C'mon, doesn't that sound like the best book ever?

This book is more than a simple hockey romance, although the romance is just perfect. The found family in this series is unmatched. We've been seeing the team friendship grow through the previous books, so at this point, they are just a big and loud family. It was amazing to see the girls forming a sisterhood and how they cared for Farrah even though she wasn't officially part of WAG.

It is important to note that this book also deals with some serious topics, mainly related to Farrah's PCOS and infertility. It is wild that so many women are led to think themselves damaged just because they have fertility or health issues. Thinking about that makes me sad about how society perpetuates those stigma. The author was very careful and sensible when discussing this topic, mainly because of her own experience. She also did a great job when talking about adoption, which shows how extensive her research was. I would recommend checking the TWs.

To wrap it up, this book was a delight. I read the whole thing in a day and couldn't recommend it (or the series) more. It's kind of bittersweet to think one of my favorite series is over, but the ending was amazing! Also, don't forget to check the bonus epilog at the end of the book!!

The D.C. Eagles is a closed-door hockey romance series, but the books can be read as standalones (just do yourself a favor and read the whole thing, you'll love it!).

Thank you so much to Leah Brunner and the Netgalley team for access to this ARC. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

- [ ] This is an ARC Review. I want to thank Leah Brunner and LBP LLC for allowing me the chance to read this book ahead of release day! This is such a good wholesome read! I love this is a book with an older FMC who also just happens to have health issues. I can see how readers could easily connect with Farrah one way or another. The slow burn effect within this book is perfect. Iโ€™m not usually a slow burn loving reader but with the first kiss out the way so early it made me yearn for more Farrah and Bruce moments. Getting pieces of the friends group as a whole it was great to see them carried over to this book as well and how each character truly brings in a different dynamic to the group.

โ€œAnd let me tell you, people who say they love working out are big, fat liars. Or skinny, fit liars, I guess.โ€

I loved this so much. Farrah and Bruce had a journey to find their way together. I love Farrah because she rightfully was protecting her heart. She honestly was never to over the top dramatic or unreasonable she was 100 percent real. Bruce was one of a kind. He stood by her and I love that about him he was a caretaker. Just enough of everything for me to love this one. Where can I get my own WAG jacket?!?!

It was a cute read. Slowburn vibes for sure. Farrah could be so stubborn and frustrating but I understood where she came from because of her past relationship. Bruce was so sweet and patient with her. Would recommend if you like slowburn, tension, and no spice.

Iโ€™ve been waiting rather impatiently for Bruce and Farrahโ€™s story, and it did not disappoint! Leah Brunner definitely saved the best for last in this final story in the DC Eagles Hockey series. Bruce has been showing up more and more in the books, and during Ford/Remy and Amberโ€™s book, weโ€™re left with a cliff hanger between Bruce and Fordโ€™s sister Farrah. They clearly have some kind of a pastโ€ฆbut what happened?

The chemistry between Bruce and Farrah is off the charts, but the best part of this book is the gentle kindness with which Bruce approaches her. Thereโ€™s something that is just so sexy about a man who knows how to be patient and WAIT for something that is worth waiting for. I love the way that he steadfastly supports her while she works through the emotional trauma caused by her former husband. Bruce is just so kind, and that is why we root for him when heโ€™s working to win Farrahโ€™s heart.

Tropes Include:
- Best friendโ€™s sister
- Older FMC/Younger MMC (but only by a few years)
- Hockey players!
- Baggage from a divorce
- Hidden romance/sneaking a little bit
- He falls first and hardest!

This is a great end to a really fun series, and I adored it!

Romance: 4/5
Chemistry: 4/5
Spice: 1/5 (it's a closed door)
First kiss: chap 1
Humor: 1/5
Cry factor: 1/5
Drama: 2/5
Suspense: 0/5
Foul language: 1/5

I absolutely loved this one. The chemistry was off the charts and the emotional load was awesome - as expected in a prohibited love.
This is a closed door romance, with a very flirty MMC who has fallen hard for the FMC and doesn't give up. He is patient with her and fights for something he knows will be good and last forever.
The FMC goes through some episodes of PCOS and it's heartbreaking, but so heartwarming when we see MMC take care of her.
The team's bond and family is a wonderful thing to see, they support one another and are there when you need them.
A fast and easy read. Watch out for the triggers in this one if you're triggered by infertility problems.
This is not a book for the clean audience.

I am a fan of Leah Brunner. This is a cute romcom. Believable characters with depth. Sweet storyline. Similar to other stories but feels fresh. Definitely recommend this closed door romance.

I read this in less than 24 hours and absolutely ate it up!!!! I love a hockey romance, I love the found family, and I loved the romance in this book. Iโ€™ve been waiting for this couple since I finished Betrothal or Breakaway and it was everything I hoped for!!! The perfect amount of pining, angst, but no spice. I absolutely love this closed door series and highly recommend!!
