I would like to thank Netgalley and Cider Mill Press for the opportunity to read the advanced reader copy.

I requested this book because it's name and cover were so appealing, I was happy to discover that to be the same about the entire book! The photographs were lovely and the recipes were very easy to follow.

I really enjoyed how the author had categorized the many recipes found in this book. It was sectioned by holidays, event, season, etc. I haven't seen a book separate recipes like this before and I found it to be very helpful. All of the desserts looked amazing and were very well presented. I would absolutely recommend this book.

Anyone who enjoys cupcakes (and that includes most of us) will want to give this book a look. It is filled with information, tips and techniques, and, of course, many recipes. Learn about batters, buttercream and more.

The recipes are organized by occasion, season, holiday, those for kids, and more. The illustrations are mouthwatering.

Those who want to bake will definitely enjoy this title.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

There’s a new cupcake baking cookbook coming out in April 2025!

“Let Them Eat Cupcakes: 100 Cupcake Recipes to Rule Them All” is by Gabrielle Cote (Cider Mill Press, April 8, 2025)

Chapters include:

Essential Techniques & Tools
Fundamental Recipes: Buttercreams & Batters
Weddings & Other Special Occasions
Big Fish Classics
Modern Twists on Tradition
Spring
Summer
Fall
Winter
Holidays
For the Kids
The Weddings chapter offered a delicious sounding champagne cupcake recipe, and there’s a lovely recipe for Bridal Cupcakes. I giggled when I saw that she’d included a Pupcakes recipe – perhaps we’ll celebrate my puppy’s housetraining with a pupcake treat. (Hopefully soon!)

There are some quirky cupcakes, like Coachella Cupcakes, Whenevah Cupcakes, and Heiress cupcakes.

The “Modern Twists” chapter offers Cannoli cupcakes, Bananas Foster cupcakes, S’mores cupcakes, and Creme Brulee cupcakes. I’ve promised my boyfriend I will make him the Key Lime cupcakes soon. You can really tell that the author had fun creating these fun recipes!

I really enjoyed previewing the seasonal cupcake recipes, such as Strawberry Rhubarb cupcakes and Blackberry Crumble cupcakes in Spring; watermelon cupcakes and Margarita cupcakes in summer; and Maple Pecan or Caramel Apple cupcakes in fall. (Yes, you guessed correctly – there’s a recipe for Pumpkin Spice cupcakes!)

For winter, there are recipes for orange & cardamom cupcakes, eggnog cupcakes, and pear and ginger cupcakes. There are peppermint cupcakes for Christmas and New Year’s cupcakes to celebrate the end of the year.

It’s nice that this cookbook offers a recipe for vegan buttercream, and for vegan and gluten-free batter.

Measurements are given in metric and imperial (cups and grams).

The photography is lovely, the recipes inventive and cheerful, and I can’t wait to bake my way through this cupcake baking book!

If you love cupcakes, but you aren't a professional pastry chef, this book is for us!

Beautiful and timeless cupcake recipes that are easy to follow and don't have a lot of weird ingredients.

There are 100 different cupcake recipes and they are all exceptional. We started with the vanilla and they were moist, full of vanilla flavor and loved by the grands.

This is one of those books you keep and pass on to your daughters.

Everything looked delicious and I was in heaven! Can I immediately eat them all? Honestly, baking isn't one of my strongest methods, but I want to give it another shot when I see delicious recipes like these. The pictures were all vivid and eye-catching, while the recipes were straightforward and sounded like they'd be mouthwatering. I can't wait to try some!

This is a lovely book of cupcake receipes. It gives good tips and instructions for getting the best results. However most of the receipes are for 36 cupcakes which is a large batch if you are only cooking them for 1 household. If you are cooking them for a party it is fabulous. Also she does not tell you how to create the designs in buttercream, there is a fabulous pink flower design and it just says apply buttercream to cupcake, it does not say what nozzle to use or how to recreate it. It would be good to know if you could half the 36 cupcake sponge receipes so that there is less waste in both batter and cake. I don't think every household has 3 cupcake baking tins if you are a homebaker. There are a few receipes for 18 and 24 cupcakes but it would be good to make all of the receipes you are buying the book. I love the receipes but the amount of cakes the receipes are for rules me out buying this book.

This is a fantastic book for people who want to make specialty cupcakes. I must say that these recipes beat the local cupcake shop in my town that does a huge business.

This book begins with the basics including tools and materials. But the really special parts are the multiple recipes for buttercreams, the tips on creating beautiful colors for the buttercreams, the batter recipes, and then all the incredible recipes for different occasions and seasons. Many of the cupcake recipe names wouldn't mean much to you but some will make you want to try them - Cannoli cupcakes, Bananas Foster cupcakes, Creme Brulee cupcakes, S'mores cupcakes.

The book does assume that you know how to pipe the buttercream frosting, but the fillings and decorating ideas are really extraordinary. Photography is wonderful. If you want to bake cupcakes professionally, this is a book you're going to want to consider purchasing.

What's not to like about cupcakes and this book/cookbook made me hungry for more from the very first phot/recipe! There is a recipe for every occasion and for every craving. From fairly basic and well known flavours to more exciting and interesting ones, this book will have you cooking and experimenting. And you can then enjoy the tasty creations yourself and with you family and friends. YUM!

Thank you NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Let them Eat Cupcakes focuses on creating classic cupcake flavors to more creative cupcake flavors. Many of the cupcakes has similar base batters and buttercreams which makes it easy to get creative after you perfect them. The only downside is some of the cupcakes focus on the decorating rather than the flavor, so I wish the cookbook focused more on how to decorate the cupcakes too.

The Sections are
essential techniques & tools
fundamental recipes: buttercreams and batter
weddings & other special occasions
big fish classics
modern twists on tradition
spring
summer
fall
winter
holidays
for the kids
appendix

Each recipe has recipe yield, active time, total time, a recipe blurb, ingredients, and directions. Most of the recipes have photos the exception are the basic buttercreams, batters, and appendix.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a well illustrated cookbook for gourmet cupcakes. There are photos for almost all of the recipes. There are standard recipes for the cupcake batter and frosting, and then each recipe just tells you to use the base recipes and add various ingredients. The recipes are a little too extravagant for me, with ingredients like silver gelatine sheets, vanilla paste and specialty flavors. Ingredients are given in precise weights and multiple measurements, which I know many people appreciate but always makes recipes seem overly busy and fiddly to me (sorry, I will always prefer measurements like 1/4 cup and a dash to 38 grams). There really aren’t instructions for the decoration and that seems to be a big part of what makes these cupcakes special. Even telling us what tip to use for her piping would be helpful. This is still quite a fancy cupcake cookbook for people who want to make bespoke cupcakes though.

Note: I am taking part in the boycott of Amazon and its products, which includes Goodreads. I will post a public review at the end of the boycott period.

This book has an unbelievable number of different cupcake recipes to try.

The introduction is helpful, followed by the buttercream and batter recipes, and then the possible options and variations for the cupcakes.

The recipes are clear and easy to understand (with weights / amounts in grams as well as cups) and the photographs are lovely.

They look and sound delicious and I'm planning on trying out the tiramisu version soon.

I think any keen bakers would enjoy looking through this book and trying some recipes.

As a huge fan of cupcakes, I'm always on the lookout for new ways to make them and fresh recipes to try. This book definitely hit the mark! The author starts by sharing her personal backstory, which I thought was a delightful touch. It's always nice to get a glimpse into the creator's life and journey.

What sets this recipe book apart is that it's more than just a collection of cupcake recipes. The author also includes several pages of invaluable tips on everything from stenciling and piping to baking techniques (like how to maintain moisture and the ideal baking time) and prep basics (like ingredient order and mixing). I think this book would be great for bakers at any level, from beginners to advanced. There's truly something here for everyone. The recipes are easy to follow, and I love that many of them include photos, so you can try to recreate the cupcake designs too.

This book would make an excellent gift for any baker in your life!

** spoiler alert ** This cookbook is absolutely amazing! Well i guess it would actually be a baking book. It would be great for beginners (like me) who want to get into baking but have no idea where to even start. Yes, some of the recipes are more advanced than others but there’s also really great tips for beginners. Before even getting to the recipes, it gives you tips for mixing your ingredients, creaming methods, gluten free methods, and piping bag tips for icing. It gives you tips on baking times and temperatures, tips for filling your cupcakes, mixing icing colors, and using stencils. If you’re a SUPER beginner it even lays out what ingredients are considered to be wet vs. dry.

The first set of recipes is butter cream recipes, and these are all laid out and ranked on their level of sweetness, which is good for someone like me cause I don’t like my buttercream super sweet. So it’s nice to have options like that.

In the back of the book there is a conversion chart and an index. So if I was wanting to bake cupcakes for Father’s Day, I could go look for “Father’s Day” in the index and go to the recipe. If I wanted to use dates as an ingredient in my cupcake, I could look up “date” and go to the recipe for cupcakes using dates.

A great variety of flavors are explored in this book. Floral flavors like rose, sweet flavors like blueberry lemon, and different flavors like Thai tea and there’s even cupcakes sorted by season!

For dog lovers— there’s a recipe for you! Pupcakes.

Amazing. The author and her partner really thought of EVERYTHING when writing this book. & I am definitely going to use it to bake cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday next month!!

Let them Eat Cupcakes by Gabrielle Cote is sweetness embodied! Just when I thought my own creativity was sufficient in the kitchen, I was introduced to 100 other variations. There are not enough calories in any given time period to sufficiently sample all of these in a regular cadence, but I sure will have fun trying! So many occasions and seasons are covered in addition to some twists on classics. You will also find dietary alternatives and accommodations, so there really is something for everyone included. The pictures are really helpful, whether you are novice or expert, in helping to home in your techniques. The pictures of the final products are inspiring, especially if decorating is not naturally your specialty. Get ready to have a blast trying these creations and maybe even adding your own personal touches.
