This book is a powerful wake-up call for Black women tired of being overlooked and undervalued. Dr. Donna Oriowo breaks down how society’s biases have shaped our self-worth and offers bold, practical tools to reclaim our confidence and joy. Drink Water and Mind Your Business isn’t just a guide—it’s a movement to put self-esteem back where it belongs: with us. Honest, empowering, and unapologetically real. A must-read for anyone ready to prioritize themselves and live boldly.

This book was uplifting and inspiring. Too often we are our harshest critics and put others first while ignoring our own needs. We focus on our perceived flaws, shortcomings, and what the world says about us and ignore everything that makes us unique and amazing. This book is a blueprint for loving and respecting ourselves and honoring everything that makes us special. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with self-esteem and loving themselves the way they deserve.

This was a breath of fresh air I feel seen and heard now after reading this. Society will have you to believe if you dont look like a model your not valuable. I've never really thought about ways to embrace the feelings of self esteem and how I could portray outwardly how I felt inside. This book created the framework for how I will teach my children how and what matters most and that Societal norms are not real. This is definitely on my recommend list thank you to Source books and NetGalley for this ARC all of this is my honest opinion.

I got this as an arc on Netgalley and it will come out in May. This is a definite recommendation. This book about gaining self esteem is so important in a society where self esteem is treated as a privilege not everyone is allowed to have.
