Set in an amusement park, this is a story of murder and mayhem amongst the rides and entertainment of the park, but who is killing staff and investors, and why, and who will they kill next?

Tanith is trapped in the amusement park while her work colleagues are being picked off one by one. But who is the murderer and will she be next? This was very entertaining with bright artwork and a great sense of unease. Lots of running and screaming moments although the heroine seems to run towards danger instead of away from it. The story is engaging with good artwork.

I found this comic to be so unique. The art style is very distinctive and colorful. The story itself is a murderous combination of fairytales, and amusement park, and a serial killer on the loose. It is a very entertaining and even slightly psychedelic read.

There’s a mixture of different kinds of mystery. The murder mystery, the mystery of the park itself, and the mystery of the timing of our heroine becoming a part of this strange ride. The art and the writing work together to tell a story that is truly fascinating and I greatly enjoyed my time with this comic.

Murder Kingdom by Fred Van Lente was...not for me, unfortunately. This is an adult murder mystery graphic novel set in a sort of parody Disney World. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but everything happened so fast with little explanation, and it seemed like some pages were out of order or missing, which made the second half very confusing. It was fine, but the characters, plot, and even the color scheme didn't really jive with me this time. I'm sure this will work for others though.

This was super fun. It gave major murder at Disney World vibes and alluded to it a few times in a very tongue in cheek way. Quick and engaging read.

I liked the Grimm fairy tales theme of the murders but I struggled to get into the story. Most of the characters were pretty unlikeable so I think if I felt more of a connection to them I would have been more drawn into the plot/cared more. If you like murder mysteries and theme park settings, then this one might be a good fit. The artwork is colorful which I liked and each scene is very detailed.
CW: It's definitely gory and there's a lot of murder.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a drc from Mad Cave Studios via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A nice little, creepy murder mystery set in an amusement park that is NOT the happiest place of Earth. I liked the illustration style of Chris Panda.

This was a DNF at like 30%. Absolutely nothing against the story or art I just never got into it despite it seeming to be right up my alley.

Brilliant interweaving of fairy tales. Vibrant art and strong characters. The dual time periods add another fun layer. I was hoping for a little more with the fractured fairytale concept. Perhaps Vol 2 will go deeper.

There were a few intense moments. Very murdery. It seemed like the story was just murder after murder which I really liked. The art was so pretty the bright colors vie it the fairy tale feel which was a nice contrast to the dark story. I really wanted more.

Murder Kingdom offers a fun, gory twist on fairy tales, setting its bloody whodunit in the warped, candy-colored world of a Florida theme park. The concept is delightfully twisted—cast members being killed off in gruesome ways that echo the original Grimms’ tales—and Tanith, a former princess turned detective, makes for a spirited and resourceful lead.

The graphic novel leans into satire and camp, blending horror and humor in a way that’s often entertaining, especially for fans of meta commentary and genre mash-ups. However, the pacing can feel uneven, with a mystery that sometimes gets lost under the weight of quirky world-building and splatter-style violence. The supporting cast is broad but thinly developed, which undercuts the emotional stakes as the body count rises.

The art is bold and exaggerated, perfectly suiting the theme park-meets-slaughterhouse vibe, though some panels feel visually crowded or rushed. While Murder Kingdom never takes itself too seriously—which works in its favor—it also doesn’t leave a lasting impression beyond its premise.

Final verdict: Murder Kingdom is a macabre and imaginative ride with plenty of style, but the storytelling doesn’t always live up to the brilliance of its twisted idea.

This is a wild amusement park murder mystery! Set in a park that is Disneyland adjacent, the cast members begin to be murdered in the ways that their character's die in the original Brother Grimm tales. It is a action packed, campy, gruesome read that is lots of fun!

Magic Kingdom is a graphic novel that mixes corporate dystopia with sharp humor and striking visuals. Fred Van Lente crafts a fast-moving, thought-provoking story that skewers theme park culture and unchecked capitalism. Bold, smart, and visually gripping—it's a ride worth taking.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading the book, and I need to say I was positively surprised with the story. The art, mystery, and connections between the stories and murders of the cast members kept me intrigued throughout the whole book. I slightly hoped for a bit more complex and unexpected ending, however, it didn't take away much from the story. The story reminded me a lot of Scooby Doo stories and I mean it in a positive way. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes thrillers or even soft horror stories.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this story, but what I got was wild! The characters all work at a theme park that's run like a kingdom, where everyone has to stay in character while on the job. But things take a dark turn when a murderer is on the loose—and the park’s knights seem to be covering it up. The art perfectly complements the underlying darkness creeping through the story. It’s a gripping and unexpected read!

Was great! Really enjoyed, will be reading the continued instalments.
Disney like tales with grim tales vibes. Murders that try to mimic to an extent.

Thank you net galley for sending me this arc.

This was interesting. The concept was interesting, the art was gorgeous, and the entire thing fast paced (as most comics are). However, the story didn't really deliver to its fullest potential.

Thank you to NetGalley and the authors for letting me read an ARC of this comic.

Overall: 2/5 🌟🌟

- Art? Fun.
- Plot? Out there.
- Characters? Honey, what are you doing?

Why should you read? 🌟🌟

- You want a comic where you can shut off your brain.
- You like fun art.
- You like characters that make you happy when they die.
- You hated the latest Disney movie and now want to read about fairy tale characters dying.

🌟🌟🌟🌟
I wasn't a fan in the end. The plot felt like it was supposed to be a satire, but it just fell flat.

Another case of “great concept, poor execution”. The whole theme park setting was interesting, but the plot was too messy and the story didn’t hold my attention.

I was really excited to read this. The blurb and the cover really sold me, but upon reading it I was was left dissapointed. There were so many things/ concepts that didn't make sense or confused me. Some things weren't explain properly and felt rushed. This book is gonna be a no for me. IT has potential, it just wasn't executed in a good way.
