He did it again!
This was my second book that I have read by Steve Cavanagh. I am aware it is out of order but it doesn't matter. I was very intrigued to read this book based on the synopsis, and it delivered.
Korn is a DA in the state of Alabama, and he feeds on the death of others. He seeks out the death penalty on any crimes and murders he possibly can, even if he knows the man in question is innocent. Guilty or innocent, he needs his fix on watching people die. Is he killing people too and framing others?
Despite being a lawyer in New York, Eddie is called upon by Berlin to come down to Alabama and take the case of defending Andy Dubois, where odds are looking slim to none. Andy is accused of murdering Skylar Edwards, a co worker at the bar that they both work at. Eddie caves, and brings his team with him. Will justice be served?
I absolutely love Eddie and his team and had faith that they could get the job done, but with all the criminal activity going on in this city, it was making me suspenseful a number of times, thinking at least one of them would lose here. They were not given a warm welcome and had their odds stacked against them in every situation. I had no idea how they were going to get out of this one. Would the good guys come out on top this time? It wasn't looking good.
I can't say that many books make me nervous and full of suspense, but this one sure did! I was nervous more than once, but could not put the book down. It was chilling so many times! As usual, Cavanagh threw me off guard. I thought I knew the culprit several times and I was still shocked with the outcome. There were so many bad people, that it could have been anyone.
This book is definitely heavy, comparing it to real life events. I was starting to get annoyed with the politics coming up as reading is becoming one of my only escapes, but the writing is so good it is easy to stay into the story. I did find it shocking when I read the author's notes that a lot of these things really happened in history. I did not know that there were areas with very high death row rates, with people in power taking advantage of it for a fix.
I think that the book could have been shorter, and sometimes I was confused a bit on some of the characters because there were so many, but I still really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.
Thank you NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another great read from Steve Cabanagh! Eddie Flynn is back in this fast paced crime thriller and this time he’s going after a corrupt DA that loves to hand down the death penalty. This book was exciting and had just enough suspense to keep me guessing. Thank you to NetGalley and Steve Cavanagh for an advanced copy of The Devil’s Advocate. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I love legal thrillers so I still enjoyed the story despite the over- the-top villian. Korn might as well be Satan himself and had the power to light people up in flames with a click of a wand or something.

Great thriller that gave me ALL the Squid game vibes! I highly recommend this one. Author has done it again! He's one of my faves.

I read this back to back with Fifty Fifty and I couldn't put this one down either. Steve Cavanagh has a way of writing suspenseful reads that just digs it's nails into your skin and doesn't let go. I loved how intense this was and cannot wait to continue on with Eddie Flynn!

In Eddie Flynn’s 6th book, we are following a murder trial involving death row. In a small town, Andy is wrongly accused of being behind the murder and con-artist lawyer Eddie Flynn most defend him before it’s too late. As usual, the drama is on point and keeps you reading so you stay up way past bedtime turning the pages. 4/5 stars and highly recommend.

I love Eddie Flynn and this book was no exception! His con-lawyer character is always so well written that you’re always rooting for him and his partners to come out on top in every case. I absolutely love this series by Steve Cavanagh and binge all the books!!

A case to save an innocent teenager from death row takes Eddie Flynn and his team to the south. A town and DA that take their beliefs very seriously. The case may just cost Eddie and his friends their lives.
I was captivated from the first page and have to say this may be one of my favorite Steve Cavenaugh novels. Fast paced and thrilling to the last page!

Another fantastic book by Steve Cavanagh! This is the third Eddie Flynn book that I have read so far. It has been awhile since I’ve read a series that was crime/thriller. I like how he gives you little pieces that make you think you know what will happen but not enough to give anything away. The cast of characters that make up Eddie’s team are interesting and easy to root for.

New York attorney Eddie Flynn and his team travel to Alabama to take on the deadliest prosecutor in the country. After a young woman is killed, Andy Dubois faces the death penalty for a murder he didn’t commit as corruption runs rampant.
This was my first Steve Cavanagh book, let alone my first Eddie Flynn book, and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of this series from the beginning. The characters and the story were compelling and emotional, and I literally said “WHAT!” out loud at the big reveal! This was fast paced and just complex enough without overbearing law procedure, an easy 5 stars.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Steve Cavanaugh writes such a riveting and intense ride of law and justice with the thrills you expect from a full-blown action thriller. The Devil’s Advocate is raw, personal, and en enthralling tale of doing right against all odds.

Another Cavanagh slam dunk for me. I absolutely love these characters. I also love all of the twists and turns every case takes that makes it impossible to predict anything. I also love how Cavanagh writes the characters we are meant to hate. He gets me to truly despise them.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Another wonderful addition to the Eddie Flynn series! It can be read as a stand-alone or within the series. It is filled with corruption, small town secrets, and a big city attorney who is ready to go to battle. The amount and variety of rollercoaster emotions that this book made me feel is hard to put into words. This is why Cavanagh is one of my favorite thriller writers.
Masterfully written, this is an absolute must read and addition to any thriller collection! It is fast paced, shockingly suspenseful, courtroom extraordinaire you don't want to miss.

This book gave me the chills. While this author is relatively new to me, he is quickly becoming a favorite. This book hade holding my breath to the end. Would they save him? Who.was the Pastor? It was a back and forth of me guessing right up till the end. I read this book in a day, it had me devouring the story. Cantwait to read more of his work

Fantastic locked room thriller with major Squid game vibes! Love this author and highly recommend this one.

Wow! Any emotion I could feel was felt reading this book. From laughter to tears to white knuckling the edge of my seat. Easily a 5 star read! The evil, corruption and racism left me feeling sad and angry. It was as disturbing as the crime itself. I absolutely love Eddie Flynn, Kate, Bloch and Harry. Their characters never disappoint. Thank you Atria Books for this ARC I could not put it down... absolutely phenomenal writing Mr Cavanagh.

At no point did I know where the book was going. It was full of emotion and great writing! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Let me start by saying that The Eddie Flynn series is my favorite legal thriller series. Eddie and his sidekicks are unmatched in being down to their last cards and pulling an inside straight. The legal words play is always fantastic. I’m a huge fan.
This book, not so much. I thought the over the top corruption was too much. Yes, small towns, especially in the South, have a history of racial corruption but to think this amount could exist today bends believability. Social media alone could have made this a national scandal and brought some accountability. This story was just too cynical for me.
I hope the next book in this series gets things back on track.

Steve Cavanaugh's *The Devil's Advocate* is an essential read! I found it impossible to put down. This novel is a captivating addition to the Eddie Flynn series, featuring the charismatic criminal-turned-attorney Eddie Flynn and his dedicated team. The story evokes elements reminiscent of *To Kill a Mockingbird*, as Eddie and his colleagues travel to a small town in Alabama to defend a young Black college student wrongfully accused of murdering a fellow student with whom he worked. As the plot unfolds, more lives are lost, and Eddie and his team find themselves in escalating danger, keeping the suspense at a fever pitch. This book masterfully combines thrilling elements with an exceptional legal procedural narrative. Cavanaugh has undoubtedly secured a spot among my favorite authors. I give it a well-deserved 5 stars!

Read This!!!!! Steve Cavanagh is a favorite of mine! This like any other book I've read from this author did not disappoint. What better way to win a trial than to know everything about it!
