This is one of my favorite series. I love all the characters. The stories have grown so much with character development. I always feel like I am a part of the gang when reading this series. I can just picture myself in the kitchen immersed in the conversation during one of their meals. Mia is so determined and has so much support. I find that I get lost in the day to the day part of the story because it feels so comfortable to me and forget we are there to solve a murder. I hope there is more to this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this! It was super cute and Halloween so it is perfect for the upcoming season! The structure of the book is great. You get a certain clue to interpret as you want and then attempt to piece them at the end.

This is book 7 in the Kitchen Witch series. I have read most of them and while Ms. Cahoon does a good job of giving background you might want to read some of the previous books to get full enjoyment. Trent's hellhound, a baby Maltese flunks out of training camp and brings home a dragon. Mia has her magic test coming up and now the magic council has sent an investigator to look around town. Also discover an incubus living outside of town and a murder. Good story.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

We return to Magic Springs, Idaho, shortly before the important All Hallows Eve. Mia is busy with her kitchen witch training and will be completing her apprenticeship with Grans, and could join the coven on Halloween. First, she must pass her Kitchen Witch exam. She is also still working at the Lodge, now with a new boss, and while Abigail manages her catering business, Mia’s Morsels, it is important she remains involved in the overall focus. Add to that, Mia is planning not 1 but 2 engagement parties for Christina and Levi.

Mia’s boyfriend, Trent’s familiar Cerby, a cute little Maltese, is truly a hellhound with powers that need refinement, but he has flunked his training at the werewolf camp and has come home with a new friend. To make matters worse, an investigator from the National Office of Magical Creatures has been sent to Magic Springs to check out some irregularities regarding Trent and the pup.

Before the investigator can start his full investigation, he is found dead, floating in a river behind Trent’s cabin, with pawprints around the body. Soon, Trent and Cerby become top suspects, and Trent’s brother Steve arrives to take control of the situation. This doesn’t sit well with Chief Mark Baldwin or Mia. Mark knows he’s going to need Mia’s help with the magical case, and she is determined to use her powers to clear both Trent and Cerby of killing the bothersome investigator.

The characters Ms. Cahoon has crafted for this series continue to grow throughout this story. Joining them are some fascinating new characters that bring entertaining and intriguing moments to the book. Mia has evolved by leaps and bounds since book one, and Grans always surprises me. Trent and Levi’s brother Steve arrives to shake things up, and Abigail has hired Finley Shiley to replace Christina as she and Levi start a new adventure in Oregon. Cerby’s new friend is extraordinary and fun.

Ms. Cahoon’s imagination brings the world of Magic Springs to life in wonderful ways. So much happens within the pages of this book, but it is never overwhelming; it truly flows magically between the main plot and each subplot.

Investigator Alfred Howard was a peculiar, diminutive man who had more connections in Magic Springs than anyone knew, leading to a variety of suspects. Mia and Mark teamed up to follow every clue while juggling everything else going on in their lives. I was completely taken by surprise when the killer was revealed, and Mark even commented to Trent that “your girlfriend has a knack for being exactly where she shouldn’t be at the exact wrong time” as they were surprised too.

The school is such a marvelous setting, and in every book we learn new things about it. There are some changes coming, and who knows what the Goddess and Ms. Cahoon have planned for Magic Springs and its delightful residents and familiars. All I know it I don’t want to miss a minute of it.

Seven Secret Spellcasters is a sensational addition to the Kitchen Witch Mystery Series. The charming characters draw you into their lives with ease for a delightful lighthearted foray of mystery, romance, humor, and magic. Ms. Cahoon never disappoints. I highly recommend the entire series!

This was awesome! Probably the best in the series!

Filled with characters I have come to love [and now BUDDY!!! IYKYK], and some very interesting new ones, this adventure with Mia & Co. is fantastic from beginning to [almost] end, with a HUGE shocker at the end that I certainly didn't see coming and left me wondering JUST how that is all going to play out.

My *ONLY* quibble [that is how good this book is, I literally have only ONE quibble] is this: whilst I NEVER saw the killer coming, or the why, after all the running around [I am sad that Mia doesn't really get to cook anymore] and all the drama, the reveal felt very rushed and really anticlimactic. It just lacked the "well that was scary/crazy/intense" feeling that I love with a reveal; I just wanted a little more oomph. Like that very unexpected ending. That was crazy unexpected. SO FUN!!

This series has become one of my all-time favorites and I cannot wait to see how Ms. Cahoon gets everyone out of the trouble that waltzed in at the end of this book!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Lynn Cahoon, and Kensington Publishing/Kensington Cozies for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This series is becoming my comfort series. I love how determined Mia is and how she has amassed her found family around her (in additional to her Gran). It's amazing how Mia is able to run her academy, her planner job at the local lodge and her food delivery service. Her passion for food and making people fell better with her kitchen witch abilities shines through so much and I was so excited to see her path to her powers progressing in this book! I also love her and Trent; they care so much for each other and their pets and its so soothing to see their interactions. I also love how she works with human law enforcement and how they have come to an understanding and I love the mix of the magical and mundane in various aspects of this book. I was SHOCKED by the ending of this book, it had me on the edge of my seat!

And wow I am SO exited to the next one!!

I love this series and this book is a wonderfully cozy and magical installment. Yes, you can read as a standalone but it may help to read the prior books to have more background info.

The Kitchen Witch series has always entertained. As the stories have evolved, Mia has learned and accepted being a kitchen witch but has tried to avoid being too formally connected to her powers and the local coven. But it is time for her to step forward and embrace it and all that it entails. It helps having so many friends and family who are also witches and have helped her through many challenges. On the flip side, she has made an alliance with local cop Mark, who is married to a witch but has tried to maintain his disbelief. Now he reaches out to Mia as his guide in navigating the waters that humans cannot fathom.

As her ceremony approaches there are other big events including Christina’s engagement party to Levi. She wants everything to be perfect but there are things that are out of her control. For instance, more people seem to know that the sweet little Maltese Cerby is actually a hellhound and Cerby has discovered a new friend- a purple baby dragon. And both of them are highly protective of those they love. Plus a half leprechaun who has come to check out Cerby and why he was sent to Trent, who is supposed to be a non practicing witch., has been murdered on Trent’s property Oh yeah, Mia’s cat Mr. Darcy, is no longer sharing his body with a ghost.

Looking for a fun read, look no further. You could read this as a standalone but why miss out on the fun of the previous books. Five purrs and two paws up.

An entertaining original mystery with a magical element that is fun and made me want to start the series from the beginning, because, despite being readable as a standalone book, it sometimes felt as though I was missing out on some background info. Turns out I do have the first two installments in my huge TBR, so I'll definitely move them up the list and enjoy the series from start to finish! :)

This is the seventh release in this delightful paranormal cozy series. Lynn Cahoon is one of my favorite authors and this series is always fun and intriguing. Thank you to the publisher, Net Galley and the author. My review opinion is my own.
This was such a a fun read with action galore and new additions to the series. Halloween preparation is exciting as Mia graduates from magic school. Her catering business is very successful. Her boyfriend has a naughty Maltese familiar causing trouble and soon they are suspected of murder. The victim was a part leprechaun who was sent to investigate the familiar.
Mia , Gran and friends are determined to clear her boyfriend as they investigate both the magical and mortal. The excitement builds to a thrilling conclusion.
I enjoyed this new release cover to cover. The characters are wonderful, the action intriguing. The author has a winning series here. I look forward to the next in series.

This story was all over the place and was here for it. Chaos ensues with so many events, so much information, and an extra magical animal.

Mia and Granny's research reveals several surprises, great ones too. This installment moved the plot quite a bit and I cannot wait for book 8 where many changes should happen.

I adore this series. A fun and lighthearted cozy mystery with magical elements. The family and friends' relationships really draw you into plot, like visiting old friends.

Seven Secret Spellcasters

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“ Besides her witch’s training, Mia has a lot on her plate with her catering business and cooking school in the Idaho town of Magic Springs. As All Hallows Eve approaches, Mia has almost completed her apprenticeship with Grans and must decide if she will join the coven. At the same time, her boyfriend Trent’s familiar, Cerby—an adorable Maltese whose powers are far greater than his six-pound fluffy body might suggest—has flunked out of hellhound training at the werewolf camp. Something about a dragon?”

Wow! This one has to be my favorite of the whole series so far. I loved Mia working with Mark so much. The mystery was just that a big mystery I couldn’t figure out until it was revealed, I didn’t want to put this one down. The ending was awesome and I cannot wait to see what is coming next to Magic Springs. I highly recommend this book and this whole series.

I loved this book! Mia is preparing for parties galore. Three engagement parties, Halloween, and then there’s the lodge. Mia has a new boss at the lodge and Mia isn’t sure she likes her. Trent has been gifted a hellhound as a familiar who’s a little Maltese dog, Cerby. But wait, Trent gave up his magical abilities. And Cerby has a pet!, a little purple dragon. Oh and Mia has to take her first witches exam. Of course, there has to be a murder. A half-leprechaun came out to investigate but before he has a chance the dragon finds him dead. Did I say that there’s a lot going on? Read this book now! #NetGalley

Lynn Cahoon has chosen to make Seven Secret Spellcasters extremely cozy with leaning on the supernatural to carry the plot. Still a decent read as the characters are fun to follow. Mia has graduated as kitchen witch with a very high score, but her boyfriend's familiar, a cute dog who is also a hellhound has flunked hellhound education and adopted a dragon. A visiting half leprechaun nosing around is found dead. Mia learns that Cerby and Trent are suspects in the murder; what else can go wrong? Her grandmother is overdoing her magic and Mia has to fit in with the coven. Cheers.

"Seven Secret Spellcasters " the 7th instalment in the "Kitchen Witch" Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon . As Mia prepares for her transfer of powers on Halloween Eve, a murder implicates her boyfriend and his familiar . . .

I love visiting Magic Springs, Idaho and catching up with Mia, Grans, Christina and Abigail. This time it’s All Hallows Eve , what could go wrong…

I adore Trent’s familiar, a cute little Maltese Cerby and the things he was getting up too. Can’t wait to see what Cerby gets up to in the next book as they learn to raise a hellhound and a dragon…

I found the mystery very interesting as well as entertaining, full of twists and turns that kept me guessing till the very end. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Mia and Mia’s Morsels in book 8.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

Seven Secret Spellcasters is the seventh cozy mystery in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries series. All Hallows Eve is approaching and Mia is preparing for her transfer of powers. There is already enough on Mia’s plate when a dead body turns up and Trent, Mia’s boyfriend, is implicated. Knowing he’s innocent, Mia will stop at nothing to prove his innocence.

I have read this series at the beginning and love how it’s all unfolding. Each installation gives us more insight into the world of magic Mia lives. I enjoy the characters in this series and the magical elements. This latest mystery kept me engaged and guessing until the very end. I liked the twists and turns the reader was taken on. This is a fun cozy mystery series and I look forward to what comes next for it.

Seven Secret S[ellcasters is the 7th book in the Kitchen Witch Mystery. I have read all the books in this series. It takes place in the town of Magic Springs, Idaho. Mia Malone is the main character. She owns Mia's Morsel's, a catering business housed in an old school She lives on the 3rd floor above her business. She is a kitchen witch. Other characters from the first book to the present are: Abigail Majors - current manager of Mia's Mortel's. Trent's and Levi's mother; Trent - Owns Major's Grocery Store and Mia's boyfriend; Christine is Mia's friend and fiance of Levi; Gloria is Mia's kitchen witch doll; Mr. Darcy is her cat. The new characters that are added to the story add so much to the story.

Trent has asked Mia to go with him to pick up his dog, Cerby, a 1 year maltese dog who is at werewolf camp. The trainer has asked Trent to come and pick him up as he has levitated the trainer. The trainer felt that he was not ready for his hellhound training. Because he was homesick he got Buddy, a large green dragon as his pet. When they get there Cerby takes his lamb toy and blanket to Trent's truck as well as Buddy who lives in trees. He is invisible to humans.

Blake Sandberg is the new director and Mia's boss at the Magic Springs Lodge. James Holder is the head chef at the lodge and kitchen manager. Mia and James are upset as Blake has installed new catering proposals speculations. James in speaking with Blake got her to agree that he could his old supplier for the Christmas holiday - Trent's grocery store. Mia has an office at the lodge.

Mia is studying for the Coven's National Council test. Her training as a kitchen witch would be complete. Her grandmother, Mary Alice, is going to come and stay with her to help her get ready for her test and her transfer ceremony party would be the next Thursday as well as the coven's halloween party. Mia took her test and passed to be a kitchen witch as a level 3. Being a level 3 Mia would be expected to work with the hierachy. The potion lab had been set up for Mia. Mia was impressed. Mia thought that her grandmother would be passing on her powers to her but was told that her grandmother would keep her powers until she died and then it would be passed on to her. The Goddess would do it.

An inspector named Alfred Howard is coming to interview Trent and Cerby as it is very unusual that he would have a hellhound as his pet. The coven canon said that only one child in the family could have powers. Because of that Trent had given his powers to Levi overseen by the coven. For some reason all his powers have not been passed on. Trent had the Goddess's familar - Cerby. Levi had not found his familar yet. The coven can't know that Trent has his powers still. Because of the letter sent to Trent by the coven leadership called together Mia's mini coven. Both Trent's parents - Abigail and Thomas were there. Christina and Levi were in Oregan setting up their new life there. To everyone's surprise, Christina and Levi arrived to be with everyone.

The doorbell rang and a small man in green was at the door. It was Alfred Howard. He had arrived early in the week. he wanted to see Trent and Cerby but when he reached out to the dog he growled. He was from Ireland and was part witch from his mother and [art leprechan from his father. He told Mia that maybe the powers were passed on to Levi or maybe not all. Howard told Trent that everytime he used magic it was recorded in athe logbooks and that the goddess had given Trent a hellhound. Normally they were only sent to witches. He left his card with Trent when he left. He would be staying at the lodge.

This is where the story takes off with all the twists and turns that make the story come alive. There is so much going on that I will leave it to the reader to enjoy to the exciting and surprising ending.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I look forward to the next adventure for the mini coven.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Group for this ARC.
