If this was a young adult novel I would have thought that was right but I couldn't see it as a children's fiction. I thought it was a great idea for a talking about grief and taking care of a loved one for their terminal illness. Barry Jonsberg wrote this well and hope to read more from them.

This was an interesting read. I wasn't sure at first what age the kids were supposed to be.
I liked the magic and how the friendships developed and changed throughout.

Bringing up porn in the first chapter of a middle-grade book that’s going to be published for children and young teens is a weird and horrible choice. It doesn’t go into detail about what it is but it shouldn’t be included as a word at all because it will make *children* look it up online. DNF’d right away because of that.
