I will start with I liked this story much more than I did the first in the series (which can be read as a standalone). This one was steamy, with romcom energy we're used to from Amy.

Some of the humor was crazy, but I liked it. Their banter was sharp and funny. They would fight, flirt, and...combust. I also liked the vulnerability both characters showed. Between Dakota's journey after her divorce to Calder letting his walls down, there were some touching moments.

I do feel the miscommunication was a bit annoying near the end, but I guess most stories have to have some form of drama thrown in.

All in all, this was a good and quick read. Now to see what's in store for Luke's story!

When our main male character refers to the main female character as a “bitch” within the first half hour, you know that this book is not going to be for you. Why are these “mountain men of Colorado” so utterly toxic? I used to enjoy Amy Daws’ books. These mountain men have absolutely nothing on the Harris brothers. Disappointing.

Calder fails to find a plus one to his brother’s destination wedding and he is trapped into sharing a room with his sister-in-law’s best friend, Dakota. Dakota and Calder have known and hated each other for seven years. Dakota is recently single and looking to gain back her confidence after a messy divorce and she falls into an arrangement with Calder. The line between arrangement and real feelings quickly blurs while the two spend all their time together.

This is book #2 in a series about brothers from a small town. It is steamy and hits the enemies-to-lovers trope. The writing fell flat for me and I did not connect well with these characters. It is a quirky read with many uses of slang and modern references, if you are ~chronically online~ this might be the book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and Canary Street Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had mixed feelings about The Seven Year Itch; while I enjoyed it, I wish there was a more drawn-out enemies-to-lovers arc. It felt a little like insta love to me. Despite that, the witty dialogue and back-and-forth between the characters was absolutely hilarious and made me laugh out loud. Overall, this was a very fun read despite my personal preference for a slower romantic build.

Heat: Inferno ☕🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Recently divorced Dakota Schaefer hopes to take control of her life but in order to do that must work through the emotional damage, insecurities and other unwanted baggage her douchebag ex-husband left behind. Dakota will need to build up her self-confidence and put her needs first. Everything seemed to go according to plan until she runs into Calder Fletcher who unexpectedly stirs up all kinds of trouble...with a capital T!

Calder Fletcher puts everyone else first, and is always ready for a good time. Looking for a night out to blow off a little steam he runs into the one woman who still elevates his blood pressure after all these years. If he thought their last encounter was explosive...this time she’s going to rock his world. Will Dakota be the one to tame the Mountain man and bring him to his knees?

Fletcher men are loyal to their brotherhood, family, and the mountain over all others. If Calder is going to find love and settle down It will take a little family meddling to make that happen.

It's time to find out what happens when a Power Point Presentation brings two enemies together for a joint mission. If your idea of a book escape is spending a few hours with a Mountain man who has a sense of humor, puts your needs first, and has a loveable cat named Milkshake the go grab a copy of Seven Year Itch. It’s never too late to find love.

I received an advance reader copy from HTP Books for an honest and fair review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.75⭐️

For the past 2 days, I have been listening to the audiobooks for Nine Month Contract and Seven Year Itch and let me tell you I do not regret a single second and would love it do it all over again.

This was my first experience with Amy Daws and I don't know why I waited so long! This book was fantastic and I'm such a sucker for a book with stellar banter between the MC's. And as a bonus, this book has so many of my favorite tropes.

I did not have the ALC for this book but I would love to say that Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon are a fantastic duo and I would cry happy tears if they could just read all audiobooks until the end of forever.

The absolute perfect small town enemies to lovers romance. Witty barbs tossed to one another that will keep you absolutely desperate to find out what happens next. Amy’s series is definitely a must read!

The Fletcher Mountain men and the meddling niece can absolutely do no wrong, and neither can Amy Daws! This book will make you laugh so hard your ribs hurt, the characters are easy to love and the chemistry is amazing! Amy always finds a way to make her characters personable, even the ultimate cat daddy’s and sassy women.

This was even better than the first in the series! Impossible to put down, I devoured this in one afternoon. Spice, heart, amazing mid-size rep and a driven FMC- we love to see it!

This book was so much fun to read and I loved it the whole time. I loved the dual POV and seeing Dakota learn to love herself again. I also loved seeing Calder grow more into himself as well! I loved hearing about the found family aspect with Dakota becoming accepted into the family and just the whole family dynamic of them being so close. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a very spicy romance that has a good plot!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of Seven Year Itch!

Amy Daws delivers an absolute knockout in this steamy, hilarious, and surprisingly emotional enemies-to-lovers romance. Packed with sass, spice, and heart, Seven Year Itch is the kind of book that has you cackling one minute and swooning the next.

Our grumpy, bearded mountain man hero is the perfect blend of dirty talk and soft heart—think rugged cinnamon roll with tattoos and emotional depth. And Dakota? She’s fierce, fiery, and just freshly divorced, determined to reclaim her confidence. Their banter is elite, their chemistry is off the charts, and their history? Deliciously complicated.

Tropes you’ll find (and love):
🔥 Enemies to lovers
🔥 Forced proximity
🔥 Second chance (with a twist)
🔥 Brother’s wedding drama
🔥 Confidence glow-up
🔥 Grumpy x fiery

From tropical tension to mountain-side revelations, this book nails the emotional beats while still delivering laugh-out-loud lines and scorching heat. If you love your romance with bold heroines, bearded men who secretly catch feelings, and just the right dose of chaos, Seven Year Itch is a must-read.

3.5 Stars 🌟

If I was marking for writing and story telling it would be an easy five stars however…..I’m probably not going to be very popular here when I say I wasn’t that keen on Dakota…but I’m sorry I wasn’t!
The sad thing is, I did start to like her in the middle but then I changed my mind again by the ending!!
I feel she was pretty hard on Calder and seemed to blame him for all the things that had gone wrong in her own life, without actually taking any responsibility for her own bad choices and inability to stand up for herself. She was selfish and self-centred …so what if she had become a little bit more curvy…women are meant to have curves, but only she can either do something about it or just fully embrace it! I just felt like she was constantly moaning about her life!!

Calder was always honest about his lifestyle, his choices and I felt he got some pretty harsh judgement from not just Dakota but also his family. Yes, the way he lived wasn’t for everyone, however he was always up front with his expectations and the fact that he was out for a good time!
I’m pleased he finally told them how he felt but it was certainly no thanks to Dakota! I wasn’t overly taken with the whole ‘cat in a carrier’ thing though….

This was a mixed bag for me. There were moments that had me chuckling but also parts that made
me a little frustrated!! The writing style is great and the supporting characters bring quite a bit to the story but it is quite lengthy …. I’m still looking forward to Luke’s story and finding out how his marriage of convenience arrangement goes…with his best friend!!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and Harlequin for the chance to read this advance copy. Seven-Year Itch by Amy Daws sizzles with spicy chemistry and humour, making for an entertaining read. However, the miscommunication and third-act breakup scenes veer into excessive immaturity. At times they feel over-the-top and stretch credibility. Despite that, the magnetic leads and witty banter kept me hooked. It’s a fun, steamy romance that never quite reached its full potential to me. 3.5/5

I received this book as an ARC. I have read other books by this author. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into this one. The characters did not draw me in and there just wasn't enough dialogue.

3.5 stars

Another Amy Daws book that has my feelings all over the place. Let’s start with the characters, because that’s a positive. I love Dakota and Calder; both are fantastic and thoughtful people, no matter how they may come across at times. You cannot judge them by their interactions with each other as they are stuck in a sort of rivalry, but there’s nothing to fight over. When it comes to loyalty to their loved ones and taking one for the team, Calder and Dakota are who you turn to. They get things done. On paper, they are perfect for each other. Yet when they are put together, it’s like trapping two cats in a bag.

Of course, part of their “hatred” for each other is not liking the feelings they get when around each other. For me, this was both a good and a bad thing. First, this is a dual POV book, but we don’t get Dakota’s POV until the 7th chapter. Then, it takes so long for them to finally hook up. I get that it’s an enemies-to-lovers type thing, but it started wearing thin. To add insult to injury, they go back to fighting after their tryst, and it takes a bit more to have them regularly on page together in a fashion that is not fighting or being mean and being petulant.

When it comes to Calder’s feelings about life in general – his work, his home, his family – this story is fabulous. I love that Calder opens up to Dakota and she becomes so protective of him, understanding him in a way nobody else does. Nobody but Dakota seems to look past Calder’s laid-back ways and willingness to help anyone at any time.

With as much as both characters grew throughout this story, especially with each other, I was disappointed on the way the third-act break-up played out. I felt the characters reverted to their bad habits too quickly and didn’t hold onto what they really knew about each other when it counted. Instead, they were once again judging each other by their previous thoughts and interactions. It was frustrating for me.

As I said, my feelings were all over the place. Ultimately, I did enjoy this story and will pick up the next book in the series.

I really liked Dakota as the FMC but Calder drove me absolutely insane. He redeemed himself a little in the end but this man is in his 30s acting like a petulant teenager. He reads like a man written by a man, not a woman. Overall Dakota’s story of finding herself post divorce was great, and I loved her coming into her own. Him though? Ick.

Love Amy Daws and this series!

Amy Daws is wonderful and I haven’t read a series of hers I didn’t love and fall in love with the characters.

Seven Year Itch follows is a fun enemies to lovers/one bed trope! It is a standalone, but this series is better if you read the first book(which is wonderful)!

Please read Calder and Dakotas hilarious trip to Mexico.

I loved book one in the Mountain Man series and book two did not disappoint! Seven Year Itch is a hilarious, heartfelt and spicy enemies to lovers romance that had me fully hooked from page one.

Calder is the grumpy, tattooed, emotionally walled-off mountain man with layers… and snark for days. Dakota is the loud, fiery, newly-divorced best friend of his sister-in-law and she’s finally rediscovering herself.

Forced to share a room on a tropical getaway? Cue the fireworks. The banter is electric, the tension is off the charts and their chemistry? Unmissable.

I loved watching Dakota step into her confidence and Calder slowly unravel in the best possible way. Their dynamic is chaotic, hilarious and so full of heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC for my honest review. This is officially one of my favorite Amy Daws reads!

This book had me laughing a lot out loud because the banter was so on point. Definitely a step up from Book one and I love when a series gets a little bit better with each book.

Calder and Dakota’s no-strings fling had me laughing, swooning, and yelling at the FMC to open her eyes. Some really fun and funny moments for sure!

Calder as we saw in the first book is funny, I love the whole cat Daddy and the carrier he had going on, like talk about a secure man. It just had some great emotional ups and downs, with a balance of laugh out loud moments and also that spice everyone craves.

Can’t wait to keep reading the series !
