Ghost is just a little different then the rest of the ghosts. She doesn't say "Boo"! She says "Meow" instead! Owl "hoots" like all the other owls, Witch "cackles" like all the other witches, skeleton "rattles" like all the other skeletons, and Bat "screeches" like all the other bats. They just don't understand why Ghost doesn't BOO!
Cute little story about being true to yourself, and the friends that except you for who you are.
This is perfect for toddlers and pre school ages. They can say the words with you out loud as you are turning page. Meow, moo, etc. are all words that they'll easily memorize. The more they read the book, the more they will interact. The illustrations are very cute and perfect for the Halloween season. Thank you to the author, publisher, and Nergalley for letting me read advance copy of this book.

This adorable Halloween-themed picture book delivers an important message, that we should all be ourselves! Ghost doesn’t want to solely say “Boo!” when she has so much more to say, and she encourages others to try something new as well. This book can also be a fun hide and seek for children as they find Ghost in her various outfits on each page. Would definitely purchase this for my own library!

Ghost Says Meow! is a cute cozy Halloween picture book about the different sounds Halloween creatures make. After ghosts says 'meow' others start to try to different sounds than they usually make. This is another book I think would be perfect as a board book for toddler's storytime and have the children say the sounds out loud.

A Halloween story full of Halloween figures like ghosts saying animal noises. A cute picture book to blend Halloween and learning about animals. Recommended for ages 2-4

It's Halloween, and a ghost wants to dress up and try different costumes, but everyone around them expects a white sheet and the cliche "boo." This is Ghost's dilemma in Lauren Kukla's picture book Ghost Says Meow! Follow the rhyming prose as Ghost tries to persuade their friends that Halloween is a time for creativity and expression. This adorably illustrated holiday book is perfect for the littlest trick-or-treaters who want the sweets without the scares. It would pair nicely with cookies, hot chocolate, or apple cider.

This book was so cute and silly! Love the underlying message of being true to yourself! Its going to be such a fun add in to boo baskets and kids halloween tbrs. And I can see it being a very fun read with the kids!

Ghost Says Meow! What I love about this book are the themes! This is a great book for practice the early literacy skill of background knowledge with young readers, because it is a great way to prep for the fall season full of orange leaves and halloween costumes. The meowing ghost is silly, and it helps break up repetitive nature of the book, in a way that can help the reader understand pattern disruptions. This change of pace can help young readers engage more with the title. Readers can also play the game of "who does ghost think they are?" and test out readers on what animal noise they are making! Overall, this brightly animated book has endless possibilities for a child's early literacy and development. I also love the ending promoting a positive message that you don't always have to stay in the "norm"

It was cute, but very basic. Good for babies and toddlers, but likely would bore anyone older. Not interesting.

Great addition to holiday picture books that all.kids will love! Will make a strong read aloud! The color palette sets it apart from other Halloween books.

For me theses types of books need to be really visually compelling, and this just didn't do that to me. The illustrations felt lazy, especially within the "story" as a whole. This was a miss for me.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.
A cute little ghost story for the little ghoul in your life. The massage is a good one and I love costumed ghosts..
Not just a Halloween book, an all year round book

Well, this is adorable, my Halloween Heart is happy, and my faith in the world is restored.
This will be the perfect Halloween read-aloud!

Ghost Says Meow! is an adorable book that's perfect for Halloween or really any time of year. In this book, our main ghost defies the expectations put upon her and decides to walk her own walk and completely be herself.

"Ghost Says Meow" is a short children's book that I know my group of preschoolers will love! The rhymes fit well together, nothing felt off or like a tongue twister to say. Even I got a chuckle from the unexpected sounds made by Ghost. This is a book I will keep my eyes out for once it's published!

Thank you to NetGalley and Jolly Fish Press for the ARC of Ghost Says Meow! This is sure to be a Halloween Storytime favorite at our library! There is so much opportunity for engagement reading this story. The artwork is so adorable and I love all the costumes our ghost friend wears.

Such a sweet story! I can imagine this book being a very fun read aloud. The silly storyline and "plot twists" will delight readers of all ages. However, the only thing holding this book back are the illustrations. They seem very amateur, like a high school final project rather than a professionally published book. If the illustrations were elevated, I think this book would become a must have for libraries and classrooms during spooky season.

This short and text-light book follows a little ghost who insists on being silly, despite protestations from his spooky friends. Rhyming text and illustrations with a muted fall palette pair up to share the ghost's lesson that trying something new and playing pretend. Young readers will likely get a giggle out of the first half of the story, where the ghost appears at the end of each chunk of text with a new animal sound. The rhyme scheme offers some continuity, but without a strong sense of meter, this book is slightly less enjoyable to read aloud than other children's books in rhyme.

All the creatures are gathering on a fall night to celebrate when Ghost says Meow.
Why I started this book: Trying to clear my TBR pile and ARC list.
Why I finished it: This is the perfect book for Story Time. Plenty of fun sounds for the children to repeat and great illustrations. Plus the littles will love making sure that everyone says the right thing.

This a cute and fun read, perfect for young children. There are a limited number of words on the pages, which makes it easy for children to read on their own. It's a quick read, probably taking only a few minutes to read total and is perfect for a quick storytime in the fall. However, since there's limited words there isn't much of a plot to the book other than the ghost wants to make noises other than "boo", which while cute, doesn't really make it all that interesting other than kids probably finding it funny that the ghost is saying things like "moo".
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC read! All opinions are my own.

This was a super cute and fun read! I can see it going well during a children's storytime, especially if you get kids to join in with the noises! The art style is sweet and charming, and it would go down well at Halloween. It also incorporates the message of being yourself in a way younger children (3-5) can understand. I did find that some sections didn't flow during a first read and I had to re-read a sentence or two a few times to get a good rhythm, especially when emphasis was placed on non-rhyming words. Overall a wholesome picture book perfect for spooky season!
