I thought this book was fine. The pictures and the story are very cute, but it does not always quite rhyme, and sometimes the meter is a little off (some lines follow a different beat than others).

A cute little Halloween book! Perfect for storytime ages 3-5. Bring on spooky season with a ghosty who likes to say anything but "Boo!"

This is such an excellent title for my library's family storytime programmes. The suspense followed by the interactive sounds of the characters will encourage the young readers to engage with the story as it unfolds. It's ideal for reading aloud with children. I had a good laugh at the reveal of what the ghost was going to say next. While pictures without text typically don't go over well with groups in a story time, the reveal of the ghost trying to be a frog and a cow will hold their attention with a good laugh. I do wish the colour palette wasn't so muted and offered more vibrant fall colours to catch reader's eyes when they browse the book on the shelfs. That said, I think this will be an ideal choice for Halloween-themed storytimes and the greater message of celebrating someone's unique perspective rather than forcing them into a box of how they should act is quite relevant. A boo-tiful concept for a ghost story indeed!

Ghost Says Meow is a fun and charming Halloween story. It’s cute rather than scary and carries a gentle reminder that there’s always an opportunity to try something new. I enjoyed the concept of different types of ghosts, and the book is a playful way for children to learn the sounds that various animals—and in this case, Halloween creatures—make. Reading it was a lot of fun, and it’s definitely suited for younger children.

Cute story, read it with my daughter who thought it was very cute cute as well. Good for Halloween or anytime really.

I read this book with my four year old son. He got a lot of enjoyment out of this book. He interacted very well with the story. He enjoyed trying to read along with me and pointing out the funny or cute things he saw as we were reading. He absolutely loved the ghost meowing, ribbiting, and Mooing. He was able to quickly guess which sound the ghost was going to make next. And thought the last page with everyone making different sounds was hysterical. Overall he says the book was “CUTE!” And I can’t say I disagree!

A fun Halloween book to remind readers, young and old, that different can be good and to have a little fun in your life.
The rhyming was good and the pace of this book is quick. The illustrations are vibrant and inviting. A fun addition to any library.

An adorable book about a ghost who sounds a bit different. A rhyming book that doesn't always rhyme. Has a charming story for a young audience about being you even if that's a bit unexpected.

Our family loves Halloween and loved this story too! My 5 year old laughed at the silliness and it was a great conversation starter about being yourself. We will be reading this one again and again because you can never have too many Halloween books!

Ghost needs a bit of spontaneity in their life, instead of the old humdrum “Boo” all the time. Ghost starts to make different noises and when others look poorly on Ghost, he positively encourages the others to try something different. This would be great for toddlers and younger.

What a cute story to spark your little one’s imagination. I loved this story and how adorable the graphics were. It is so sweet and gets your child’s imagination going. Letting them know you can be whatever you want. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I will be adding this to my collection as soon as it’s available for purchase

What a sweet little story! Perfect for Halloween time, I would recommend for kiddos from one to two years old. Would love to grab this one for my youngest when it’s published.

This is an adorable book with a wonderful message. I love all things Halloween and while this is a Halloween story, I believe it goes a long way in encouraging children to step outside the box and do brave things, even when other people try to discourage you from it. The graphics are simple but beautiful, and I know my grandchildren and littlest library patrons would adore this book. Recommended!

Ghost says Meow is such a cute book that teaches kids about being unique. I thought it was a very cute kids book that is one that my three year old wouldn't be afraid of. It might help make Halloween less scary for him.

This is a fun little rhyming book about Ghost who wants to say anything but boo! This book is perfect for younger readers who are learning about themselves and where they fit in the world. I think the message behind the story that you don't have to be stuck in the box people make for you just because they have a preconceived idea about who you are and what you should be doing (or the noise you should be making in this case) is very important for children. This a book I will be buying to use for a resource in the classroom.

Omg this books was absolutely adorable! I will definitely be purchasing it for my nieces! A little ghost is having fun making noises that is theirs. Other ghoulish animals and friends say ghosts don’t say meow. After being sad about not saying things probably the little ghost ask why not try something new and went on to have a spooktacular night. This was absolutely a cute book and I am go grateful I got to read it!

My thanks for the ARC goes to NetGalley and North Star Editions | Jolly Fish Press. I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

GHOST SAYS MEOW! is a delightful book where a ghost explores Halloween noises.
I thought the message was fun to try other things. The friends figure out how to be together.

Such a cute children’s book! My son loved it. He is always pretending to be a ghost and found it hilarious when the ghost would say something other than boo. It will also be easy to read in dim lighting. All the words are high contrast in color, no dark blue backgrounds with black text. That is a big win in my book as we like to read before bed in dim lighting and not all books are able to be read in low light.

My kids and I loved this cute little story about a ghost, that is unwilling to fit in! Why should we all just say one thing, if there are so many to choose from? Cute illustrations and a quick read for littles.

Adorable story about a Ghost who realizes that it is okay to just be yourself. The ghost in the story says many things, but does not say BOO. Others find it to be wrong, but the ghost shows them that is okay to be different. Featuring adorable illustrations, cute rhymes, and a great lesson that would benefit all readers.
