My son thought this book was absolutely hilarious. We loved guessing what was under the ghost costume each time.

Such a fun, silly little Halloween book! In the spirit of Sandra Boynton, this book begins with our ghost saying silly sounds rather than ‘Boo!’ until, soon enough, all the Halloween characters join the ghost in being themself and being silly. A cute, wholesome Halloween book for littles.

A cutesy little tale about a ghost who goes around on Halloween saying things other than "Boo" and gets admonished for it by the other Halloween creatures. It's a light tale intended to tell young kids it's OK to be who you are, not what everyone says you should be. I don't think the Kindle ARC did the artwork justice, so I can't really comment on that, though the various characters were fairly cute.

My 4 and 7 year old daughters loved it! They liked guessing what the next rhyming sound would be. The artwork is cute. This is a fun new take on a Halloween book.

I received an ARC of this children's book from NetGalley in exchange for a review. This book is a cute way for children to learn that expressing themselves in different ways is okay. As a digital book, it is read one page on screen at a time so the unmatching backgrounds of each page kind of threw me off. I also wasn't a fan of not having a uniform font and also lost the text on the page. The ghost also appeared in different "costumes" in the story which had little to do with the theme and I found that a little off-putting. I thought there was going to be more connection with the ghost relating to a cat but many different animals and spooky themed friends were in the book instead. It was a cute read and I would have definitely read it to my preschool class during fall season. I just wish the illustrations and text represented the overall theme a little neater because it felt a little disjointed.

This story offers a fresh and unique take on Halloween, celebrating the importance of being true to yourself—even if that means standing out from the crowd. It gently teaches young readers that they don’t have to follow social norms to be accepted or happy. Embracing what makes you different can be a source of joy, and when you’re genuinely enjoying yourself, others often will too.

The illustrations are just as whimsical and distinctive as the story itself. Honestly, what’s a Halloween book without a ghost, a black cat, and—of course—a ghosticorn? Every spooky tale could use a little more magic like that.

Don't ever let yourself shine less to please others. Sometimes you just need to think outside of the haunted house and shine brighter then the full moon.

Thank you Net Galley for this eARC of Ghost Says Meow in exchange for my honest review.

My five year old and I really enjoyed this cozy little Halloween story with themes about individualism and creativity. The illustrations were cute and charming and my son really enjoyed the rhyming cadence of the story.

My biggest complaint: It was difficult to get the full pictures of the illustrations on our iPad and kindle so I feel like we missed part of the experience.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.

The illustrations are very simple — perhaps too much so — and would have benefited from more attention to detail. The story is also quite basic. It seems to aim at teaching children that differences are not flaws, but rather what make us unique, and that we should feel free to be whoever we want to be. However, the way this message is presented might not be entirely clear to younger readers.

That said, since it's a Halloween-themed book, I’m sure it will still attract attention and be widely read. We'll have to see whether it truly connects with its intended audience.

Ghosts Say Meow is a mischievously clever storybook about a ghost trying new things. The entire story takes place at Halloween, making it the perfect seasonal read with your littles. It does a great job of being silly, adorable, educational, and heartfelt. I recommend it for teaching your littles new Halloween-themed words, and also a good lesson.

Divertida y espeluznante historia acerca de ser diferente e intentar cosas nuevas.

Ideal para la temporada de otoño, y para los chicos y grandes que disfrutan con historias de fantasmas.

Ghost Says Meow! is an absolutely adorable Halloween picture book with a wonderfully sweet message at its core. It follows a little ghost who chooses to say “meow” instead of the traditional “boo,” much to the confusion of her spooky companions. It’s a charming story about individuality, creativity, and the joy of being true to yourself.

The artwork and illustrations are lovely and perfectly matched to the gentle, whimsical tone of the story. It’s ideal for reading aloud with young children, especially those just beginning to learn about animal sounds or the excitement of Halloween.

My wife and I are expecting our first child early next year, and this felt like exactly the kind of book I’d want on our shelf for bedtime. With its sweet message and cute ghost-cat twist, I know my wife (a huge cat lover) would adore it too. I’m really hoping it will be released as a board book in Australia. It’s one I’d love to read over and over again.

A heartwarming, cozy little book with big personality which I’d absolutely recommend for any young family who enjoy spooky season reading.
