This was funny, cute and festive, with all the Halloween vibes and none of the scariness. Ghost Says Meow! would be such a cute read aloud for preschools during Halloween. I love the message to be yourself, and the ways that ghost acted out a cow and a frog, in addition to a cat. I recommend this book for schools and libraries.

Ghost Says Meow is a cute book about being different. It's a fun way for little ones to celebrate Halloween. The language is simple and easy to understand. It has a good rhythm that will keep young children engaged and it offers plenty of opportunity for conversation.

"Ghost Says Meow" by Lauren Kukla is a cute tale that teaches children to be themselves. Our ghost friend does not want to be put into a box--she wants to make whatever noises she wants! Our brave protagonist shows the other Halloween creatures that they can be whatever the want to be. The simple noises also make this a great book for story time, as children can help make them too. Overall a great story about subverting expectations and being yourself.

I want to thank Jolly Fish Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This was absolutely adorable!
In this charming story, our friendly little ghost explores what it might be like to be something else, while an equally adorable cast of characters take on more traditional roles. While we anticipated Ghost was going to do some meowing, I loved the mini plot twist of her trying out different voices!
When reading aloud, a book's flow is crucial, and this one perfectly hit the mark. There's nothing worse than a story feeling disjointed or having inconsistent rhyming, but this book completely avoids those issues.
The illustrations were wonderfully done and fit the story perfectly.
My only minor criticism is regarding the recommended age range. While the book suggests ages 4-8, I would personally recommend it for ages 3-5. It might be a bit too simple for children much over the age of 5.
Side note: I read this to my three year old, and she mentioned it multiple times throughout the day, even requesting an encore. This book is officially kid-approved!

Ghost says meow is a heartwarming and beautifully written story that follows a ghost who defy the convectional ways of spookiness. The theme of celebrating individuality and creativity builds up a crescendo to establish that being different is never a flaw.
The cute illustrations are lovely and they will definitely delight the children. They are colorful and fun. The book's core concepts and ideas for individuality with Halloween's charming spooky experiences of bats, skeletons, ghosts and more are well explored. The little ghost doesn't give up on the idea and isolates itself rather it puts forward its thought and lets his friends "think outside the haunted house" as the book describes it.
Perfect for bedtime story!!! Definitely recommend this book.

As someone who loves having a holiday bookshelf I’m always on the lookout for some cute themed books for my kiddos. This is definitely one I’m going to have to check out further because my son loves making animal noises so I think he’ll get a kick out of this. The illustrations are adorable and I love the underlying message that you don’t have to be put in a box. Never be afraid to be yourself!

This is a sweet little rhyming story perfect for tiny readers--my bookstore will likely use this for a story time once it's released, and I know our toddler and 3/4 year olds will love it.

Ghost is just a little different then the rest of the ghosts. She doesn't say "Boo"! She says "Meow" instead! Owl "hoots" like all the other owls, Witch "cackles" like all the other witches, skeleton "rattles" like all the other skeletons, and Bat "screeches" like all the other bats. They just don't understand why Ghost doesn't BOO!
Cute little story about being true to yourself, and the friends that except you for who you are.
This is perfect for toddlers and pre school ages. They can say the words with you out loud as you are turning page. Meow, moo, etc. are all words that they'll easily memorize. The more they read the book, the more they will interact. The illustrations are very cute and perfect for the Halloween season. Thank you to the author, publisher, and Nergalley for letting me read advance copy of this book.

This adorable Halloween-themed picture book delivers an important message, that we should all be ourselves! Ghost doesn’t want to solely say “Boo!” when she has so much more to say, and she encourages others to try something new as well. This book can also be a fun hide and seek for children as they find Ghost in her various outfits on each page. Would definitely purchase this for my own library!

Ghost Says Meow! is a cute cozy Halloween picture book about the different sounds Halloween creatures make. After ghosts says 'meow' others start to try to different sounds than they usually make. This is another book I think would be perfect as a board book for toddler's storytime and have the children say the sounds out loud.

A Halloween story full of Halloween figures like ghosts saying animal noises. A cute picture book to blend Halloween and learning about animals. Recommended for ages 2-4

It's Halloween, and a ghost wants to dress up and try different costumes, but everyone around them expects a white sheet and the cliche "boo." This is Ghost's dilemma in Lauren Kukla's picture book Ghost Says Meow! Follow the rhyming prose as Ghost tries to persuade their friends that Halloween is a time for creativity and expression. This adorably illustrated holiday book is perfect for the littlest trick-or-treaters who want the sweets without the scares. It would pair nicely with cookies, hot chocolate, or apple cider.

This book was so cute and silly! Love the underlying message of being true to yourself! Its going to be such a fun add in to boo baskets and kids halloween tbrs. And I can see it being a very fun read with the kids!

Ghost Says Meow! What I love about this book are the themes! This is a great book for practice the early literacy skill of background knowledge with young readers, because it is a great way to prep for the fall season full of orange leaves and halloween costumes. The meowing ghost is silly, and it helps break up repetitive nature of the book, in a way that can help the reader understand pattern disruptions. This change of pace can help young readers engage more with the title. Readers can also play the game of "who does ghost think they are?" and test out readers on what animal noise they are making! Overall, this brightly animated book has endless possibilities for a child's early literacy and development. I also love the ending promoting a positive message that you don't always have to stay in the "norm"

It was cute, but very basic. Good for babies and toddlers, but likely would bore anyone older. Not interesting.

Great addition to holiday picture books that all.kids will love! Will make a strong read aloud! The color palette sets it apart from other Halloween books.

For me theses types of books need to be really visually compelling, and this just didn't do that to me. The illustrations felt lazy, especially within the "story" as a whole. This was a miss for me.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.
A cute little ghost story for the little ghoul in your life. The massage is a good one and I love costumed ghosts..
Not just a Halloween book, an all year round book

Well, this is adorable, my Halloween Heart is happy, and my faith in the world is restored.
This will be the perfect Halloween read-aloud!

Ghost Says Meow! is an adorable book that's perfect for Halloween or really any time of year. In this book, our main ghost defies the expectations put upon her and decides to walk her own walk and completely be herself.
