Unfortunately, The Case of the Tortured Souls just wasn’t the book for me. I ended up DNF-ing it because I struggled to stay engaged with the story, even though I really appreciated the author’s writing style. Travis Holley clearly has a strong, clean voice, and there’s a lot of potential in the concept.
While I loved the idea of a character-driven mystery with emotional stakes, I found it hard to connect with the pacing and plot. Even though it wasn’t a fit for me, I’m still glad I gave it a try.
Thank you to TNT HOLLEY INC. and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I think this book had so much potential that was sadly wasted due to lack of better world building. Although synopsis was intriguing, I could not connect with the main character. So it was hard to actually finish the book but still did to give it a fair chance.

The Case for Tortured Soul by Travis Holley started out with a great unique concept, but the execution was lacking. I could not connect with the main character.
In addition to reading the eBook, I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook as well. I did not like the narration by Jennifer Crosby as well. Voice was just not appealing. I ended up giving up on the narration about 50% of the way through and reading the rest.
